Roses from tree leaves step by step. Do-it-yourself flowers from tree leaves: instructions. Rose from maple leaves master class
Autumn is an underestimated season. Not everyone is happy with her.
On the other hand, this is a plus, since you can make many discoveries that will make you look at this time of year in a new way.
Here we will be helped by ordinary maples, which are valued in ornamental gardening. And our discovery is maple leaf roses.
Let's look at a few step-by-step instructions for making these "autumn flowers" with your own hands.
Method one:
To make a bouquet you will need.
- Maple leaves of different colors.
- Threads.
- Iron.
- Newspaper sheets.
- Yellow masking tape (optional)
When collecting leaves, do not try to collect only the same ones. Multi-colored leaves will be better. But dry, damaged or diseased are excluded.
Small leaves are also a bad option as they will be difficult to work with. Then separate the collected colors.
For a single bud, use leaves of the same color. Let the bouquet be colorful, but it is better for the flower to be monophonic.
So, take a sheet and fold it in two. Bend line across the rachis (vein located in the middle). Moreover, the front side should be outside. Screw this bent “petal” into a roll. It should be bent parallel to the rachis. This roll should turn out to be dense; this is the core of our workpiece.
Now you need to lay out the leaves around the core. Take the first one and place the roll in the center of this sheet, with its outer side being placed inward. Next, fold the sheet in two halves outward. See that the edge of this fold is a centimeter or a half higher than the core of the flower. The bend should be smoothed out. Bend the edge that protrudes above the core outward. There is nothing to smooth out here. Wrap the sheet in this state around the roll on both sides.
For a new petal, take another sheet, the algorithm of actions is the same, although from the very beginning, place this sheet opposite to the first one. And so the same type, collect the petals in a bud. Determine the number of petals according to your desire.
Use threads to tie the bud at the base, thereby securing the flower. The number of flowers is also determined at your discretion.
Part two making “leaves” from leaves. To do this, as already mentioned, take the most colorful of them.
First, make sure that the leaves do not curl up when dry. This can be prevented if ironed before work, placed between newspaper sheets, with an iron. Here another problem arises - the leaves become brittle. But beauty requires precision. Place the leaves under the buds in a circle.
Make sure they are evenly spaced. Fix everything in the same way with threads. For beauty, it is recommended to hide the knot. Do this with yellow masking tape. You will receive a neat and complete product.
Method two.
Here you need:
- Maple leaves of different colors (must be green among them)
- Threads
- Twine wire
- wooden sticks
- Sunflower oil
Regarding the assembly of leaves, the rules here are the same as in the previous method. But pay attention to the fact that you must also have green leaves. Just as in the first case, divide the leaves by color.
Fold the first sheet across the rachis. Then twist the folded sheet, but so that the core is not compressed, but voluminous.
Arrange the cuttings parallel to each other. Then form a cuff from green (and partially yellow) leaves. Fasten the cuff, buds and their cuttings with twine wire.
In order to decorate the leg, use several wooden sticks, inserting them between the cuttings.
The bouquet is ready.
But in order for it to retain its brightness and brilliance. Lubricate it with regular sunflower oil. This brings a few more positives.
When the oil is absorbed in two days, the leaves will become soft, they will be protected from drying out and will not lose their attractive shape. If you want, you can go further, spray your bouquet with varnish, or treat with special leaf glue, which, when dry, will make the entire texture of the leaf clear, all the veins will be visible to you, and the “petals” and “leaves” will play with color.
A simpler option is regular hairspray. You can also use water-diluted glycerin (may cause unpredictable discoloration) and plain liquid silicone to maintain softness and shine.
Get creative with your bouquet to make it look perfect. Try one of the suggested ways, supplement the second.
By the autumn holiday or Teacher's Day, you can make roses from maple leaves with your own hands. Thanks to the bright colors of the leaves, which can be pale yellow, bright golden, orange, red, green, the bouquet will also appear in a new guise every time.
What will be needed for work?
- Maple leaves (freshly picked);
- Threads.
Depending on the structure of the leaves, the end result is not always the same and is expected. Soft and thin leaves produce more pronounced layers and clear roses. And it happens that the sheet is harsh, it cracks during operation, so the layers of the bud will not be so pronounced, not very clear. But in any case, the bouquet is beautiful and interesting.
How to make roses from maple leaves with your own hands?
Prepare the middle. It may be from a small leaf.
Turn it with the right side towards you, then fold it in half, bending the top back.
Roll into a tube, starting from the right or left side. For convenience, you can fix this roll a little with tape.
This is the core of the rose, and the bud needs to be arranged around it. To do this, take another sheet, as in the previous case, fold it in half, then slightly, about 1-1.5 cm, bend its top back and wrap it around the core. As if you put on a blanket or start swaddling a baby.
And then all the same. Take the next sheet, a little more than the previous ones, and wrap it around in the same way, forming a bud. Only in each subsequent case, this should be done from the opposite side. That is, wrap the core with a sheet, pinch the descending sides with your fingers, and then the next sheet must be started in this area so that the tips converge on the other side. So alternately you need to add about 5-6 leaves. You can do less, but then you get very small buds. However, they can also be part of the autumn bouquet.
In the process of work, you need to firmly squeeze the stem near the leaf itself, since the bud strives to open all the time. As soon as the last, largest leaf has been added, you need to wrap all the stems well with threads. Just wind it thoroughly from the base to the middle. Optionally, the flower stem can be wrapped with beige, green or yellow corrugated paper.
Flowers can be made any number, from three or more. Then collect them together and also wrap the stems with threads, or with tape.
At the end, the bouquet is complemented by whole leaves, which can be of various colors. For shine, you can apply sunflower oil to each bud, just a little, just one drop is enough. Everything, do-it-yourself maple leaf roses are ready.

author Raud Y., photo of the authorA new autumn has come, and our golden autumn bouquet of roses made from leaves is becoming relevant again. This is just some kind of miracle! The reality of unreality - fold rose petals from a maple leaf!
The author of the idea of making roses from autumn leaves is my colleague, elementary school teacher Natalia Yakubova. Unfortunately, her lesson - how to make a rose from maple leaves - was copied from us by many sites without attribution to these materials ...
We are happy to share this art with the readers of the site site.
So, a virtual lesson from Natalia: the sequence of making such a wonderful bouquet of roses from leaves, with my photos and comments.
At the end of the article - advice from our readers who have learned how to make a bouquet of roses from leaves.
How to make a maple leaf rose step by step
We collect suitable leaves (too small, dry, diseased, torn leaves are NOT suitable for us) of various colors. For the manufacture of one flower, it is better to choose leaves of the same color.
We fold the first sheet in half, across the central vein - so that the front side of the sheet is outside.
And now we turn this folded sheet into a tight roll. This roll will be the "core" of the rose.
Now, around this "core" of the flower, we begin to lay the "petals". To begin with, we take a sheet, and in its center we place a “core” (note that the front side of the sheet is inside the future flower!).
Fold this sheet in half. The edge of the inflection of the "petal" is located above the "core" by a centimeter and a half. Smooth out the fold of the sheet.
And now this protruding edge of the sheet is also bent outward, but the fold is no longer smoothed ...
We wrap the side edges of this double-folded sheet on both sides around the “core”.
We pinch the lower edges of the leaf at the very base of the flower.
We take a new sheet for the next "petal" and repeat the operation just performed. Only this petal is now located on the opposite side of the first sheet.
Next, we perform several similar operations, adding new leaves - now the petals are going into a bud. Add leaves until you feel it is enough to complete the flower.
When the bud is ready, we tie its base with threads to secure the flower.
How many flowers will be in your bouquet - you decide. For this "photo shoot" we had three ...
Making a bouquet
Now let's deal with the "greenery" of the bouquet framing our roses. The most beautiful and colorful leaves are suitable here.
So that these leaves do not curl up into a tube the next day when they dry, it is better to iron them beforehand between sheets of newspaper. After this procedure, they will become more fragile, but with careful handling they will not be damaged.
We evenly arrange the prepared leaves in a circle, placing them under the buds in the hand. Then we fix the now ready-made bouquet at its base with the same threads.
By the way, on top of the threads, it will be possible to wrap this knot with yellow paper tape (painting tape). The tape will hide the threads and make the bouquet look neater and more complete.
Here is our autumn bouquet of maple leaf roses and ready!
I'll tell you a secret that I folded one of the three roses of this bouquet :)
But what advice did we get from the users of the forum site www.eva.ru:
“In order for a bouquet of roses from leaves to stand longer, it is necessary to smear the already twisted roses with vegetable oil (with a brush). The oil is absorbed in two days. The leaves become soft, do not dry out, do not lose color and do not shrink.
Tips from our readers:
“Indeed, flowers from the leaves lubricated with sunflower oil last much longer. Checked: our rosette has been standing for a year, and still the same beauty :)
By the way, you can add a couple of drops of essential oil to sunflower oil. I added pine - I really liked the result. And you can take orange - it has been proven that it improves mood. Experiment!".
“Sunflower oil will eventually dry out and turn into a sticky drying oil.
Florists for use.
If you put twigs or leaves in a mixture of glycerin with water (3: 1, hot water), they will not dry out, but remain soft. The only thing is that an unpredictable change in the color of the leaves is possible.
Probably, you can grease the autumn leaves with pure glycerin for softness. Or liquid silicone.
“You can go to the flower department and ask to douse all this beauty with a special varnish, which cut flowers are treated when necessary and when not necessary.”
“You can process a ready-made bouquet of roses with ordinary hairspray :)))
I watched how they make a passe-partout from autumn leaves - they are covered with some kind of special glue that makes the entire texture of the leaf clear. Then all his veins become very distinct, and the color of the sheet plays.
“At home I have a spray bottle of flower polish (well, to make the glossy leaves of houseplants shine better). So we covered our bouquet of 11 roses with this varnish, and it turned out really cool!
“I was able to secure such a stunning bouquet of autumn leaves with melted wax. Roses and individual leaves have not lost their color after such treatment and have been delighting us for the second year!”.
“We also sprinkled our roses with sparkles, and it turned out generally gorgeous!”.
“Last fall, I painted roses made from rose leaves with gold paint, and in winter I decorated the Christmas tree with them.”
Here's what happened:
“And we in Israel made roses from sycamore leaves.”
“We don’t have red-leafed maples in the area. I had to use wonderful crimson-red leaves both to make miniature roses and to frame the bouquet.
“Maple leaves for making roses must be large. Moreover, if the size of the leaves is different, then you need to start with smaller ones, because. for the growing volume of the rose, each time a larger leaf is needed.

Autumn leaves are an excellent material not only for making a herbarium, but also for creating unusual compositions, flower bouquets. From the leaves of maple, birch or mountain ash, you can make beautiful roses that will decorate both the interior and the autumn themed event.
What leaves are roses made from?
- maple;
- lindens;
- birch;
- viburnum;
- chokeberry;
- poplars.
In this case, the foliage should be intact, without obvious damage, not dry. The material must be malleable, easy to take a new shape. The leaves should be aesthetically beautiful: one or a shade close in color, so the color scheme of the bouquet must be thought out in advance.
Procurement of natural material
How to make a rose from leaves so that it will stand for more than one day - prepare the material correctly:
The main thing is not to dry the foliage. Otherwise, it will break and deform when creating a rose.
Master class: how to make a rose
Master classes will help you create a rose from maple, birch leaves and chokeberry leaves with your own hands. In addition to the main natural material, you will need strong threads for attaching foliage to buds. No other special tools are required for this craft.
Please note that any leaves must be with cuttings.
from maple leaves
For roses, it is better to choose large maple leaves, too small ones will not work. Within the same bouquet, the color scheme of the buds may differ, but for one rose it is recommended to select leaves of a single tone.
Step-by-step instruction:
- Creation of the core. The first sheet is folded horizontally in half, leaving the front side on the outside. Roll it tightly with a roll and hold it firmly with your fingers, but so far they have not fixed it with anything.
How to make a maple leaf rose step by step
- Making petals. Apply a whole sheet with the front side to the resulting core. Bend it horizontally so that the stamen is 1–1.5 cm below the bend, and iron it well. The remaining protrusion is also bent, but not smoothed. The side parts of the maple leaf are wrapped around the core, as if wrapping it in a blanket. The remaining edges are pinched at the base.
- Creation of the second petal. They take another sheet and do all the same steps, but place this petal on the opposite side. Fix the petals with a thread at the base.
- Creating a button. Add the required amount of maple leaves until the size of the bud is sufficient. The main thing is not to forget to fasten the petals of the future rose with a thread at the base so that the whole bud is strong and does not fall apart.
- The number of buds determines the size of the bouquet. When all the buds are ready, they can be tied with a beautiful ribbon or decorated with maple leaves.
The shape of the wedge leaf allows you to form a flower in another way:
- the core is made as in the previous version;
- take a sheet and bend its central part inside the wrong side;
- wrap the core with this sheet so that the edge of the previous sheet falls in the middle of the next;
- continue to form a bud until it reaches the desired size;
- the base of the flower is fixed with a thread.
From chokeberry leaves
The leaves of chokeberry turn red, brown in autumn, so they are suitable for creating bright bouquets. One bud takes an average of 19 leaves, but it is better to have a small supply of them. In addition to the leaves themselves, you will need another small twig (twig) of the same tree.
How to create a rose from chokeberry leaves:
- Core twist. Take a small twig and wrap it with a leaf face inward. The base of the core is held with fingers.
- Making petals. They take the second leaf and bend around the stamen, then take the next leaf, gradually forming a bud. The front side of the leaves is facing the core.
- Creating a button. When the flower has reached the desired size, then its base is fastened with a thread or wire. Rose petals are folded back, fluffing the resulting flower.
- The twigs at the base of the core make it possible to form a bouquet that can be placed in any convenient container.
From birch leaves
Birch leaves, both in shape and structure, are well suited to create a rose. For one bud, you will need to collect 7-8 leaves of large, medium and small sizes. The color scheme of the material should match, while pale yellow leaves will create original tea-colored roses.
Flower technology:
From the leaves of different trees
When autumn has just begun and there is not so much yellowed foliage, the flower can be made from the leaves of different tree species.
To create the composition "Rose in a Pot" you will need the following materials:
- bright, beautiful, preferably large leaves (loach, maple, aspen or any other) - 15–20 pieces;
- green maple leaves - 2 smaller, 3-4 larger;
- straw for juice (medium size);
- a twig (twig) with leaves in diameter slightly smaller than a tube for juice (the tube should be put on it);
- elastic bands for weaving;
- Double-sided tape;
- Polish for hair;
- rose pot;
- plasticine or mass for modeling (for fixing a rose);
- earth or ground cones.
Step by step master class:
Making bouquets from natural materials
The resulting buds can be arranged in beautiful bouquets:
- Maple roses are decorated with large leaves of the same tree, while the color scheme can be the most colorful and differ from the color of the buds. To make the leaves even and beautiful, they are ironed, placed between sheets of paper. Maple buds are carefully wrapped with prepared leaves and fastened at the base with a thread. You can decorate the place of fixation with adhesive or rag tape of a suitable shade.
- The flower arrangement will look good in a "vase" made of natural material. For this, half a pumpkin, previously peeled and dried, or a basket woven from newspaper tubes, is suitable. You can supplement the composition with clusters of mountain ash, cones, leaves of other trees.
- If you attach stable cuttings of twigs (branches) to the buds, wrap them with adhesive or rag tape of a suitable color, then such a bouquet can be placed in an ordinary tall vase, decorating it with sprigs of asparagus, bergrass or gypsophila.
How to keep the attractiveness of a bouquet of leaves
How to make a rose from leaves is described in detail in the master classes. One more question remains: how to preserve the freshness of the bouquet, because the natural material dries quickly and loses its shape.
You can also create roses from autumn leaves. Such a bouquet will help to decorate the interior of the house or a theme party. The main thing is to choose the right material, choose the technique of execution and turn on your boundless imagination.

Bouquet of roses from maple leaves:
Autumn is golden time. Fallen leaves cover the earth with a magic carpet. Who among us hasn't brought leaves home? However, although they are unusual in color, it will be much more interesting to create an autumn bouquet of leaves and decorate your home with them.
We offer a master class with a description of several options for creating such a product with your own hands. It will not only add zest to your home, but also to the autumn photo shoot.
Memories of autumn
We will need maple leaves of various colors and threads.
Fold the first sheet in half across. And roll it into a tight tube.
This will be the center of our flower. Now we take the second sheet, apply it with the front side to the bud blank. We fold it in the same way in half, you can 1/3.
Then slightly turn off the top of the second petal and wrap around the bud. On the contrary, we attach the third sheet in the same way.
So we form the whole flower, and each subsequent row should fit a little more freely to the previous one.
We fix the thread at the base.
For your confidence, if you are making such a bouquet for the first time, you can attach each sheet to sewing.
We wrap the bouquet with a sheet larger than the flowers, we also fasten it with a thread.
You can wrap it in beautiful paper, or you can leave it like that.
Another variant
This version also consists of roses, however, the folding of the leaves is different.
Here's what we'll need:
- 10 maple leaves of different sizes and colors per flower. They should be slightly dried up, even freshly fallen, as they will be more plastic;
- right there in the forest you can pick up twigs, they will go to the stems;
- green teip tape;
- scissors.
We take the smallest sheet, turn it to ourselves with the inside. Bending the tops, wrap in a roll. We get the middle of the flower, as shown in the photo.
We take the second sheet, bend the middle top and apply it to the bud. Then, in turn, bending the edges of the sheet, we wrap it.
Thus, we attach the leaves. It is better to apply them in order of increasing size and overlap.
We can fix the finished flower with a thread. We attach a branch to it, we wrap it from the base of the flower and along the entire length of the stem with teip tape.
We connect all the received flowers in a bouquet. We can decorate at our discretion.
Adding variety
We will need:
- slightly dry leaves of birch, aspen, etc.;
- jute rope;
- balloon;
- PVA glue;
- glue gun;
- branches with rowan berries.
As you can see, it is necessary to make a ball out of jute thread. We take a balloon, inflate it and wrap it with jute, while generously lubricating it with PVA glue (you can also use wallpaper). We are waiting for it to dry. We pierce and remove the ball.
Now let's start making flowers. To do this, take a leaf and fold it into a bag, fasten the edges with hot glue.
We wrap the next sheet around it, we also use glue. Thus, we fasten all the leaves, while each subsequent one should be equal to or slightly larger than the previous one. We form a rosebud.
You can apply hot glue on the petals, imitating dew. Now we insert the flower into the jute ball, fix it with glue.
So we make out the whole ball.
If desired, at a stage while the jute ball is still wet, you can make a flat bottom and decorate only the convex part.
Now we fill the voids with rowan berries so that the jute is not visible at all.
Such a non-standard bouquet can fit on a vase, or you can provide a loop and then hang it, for example, on the door.
Fourth way
It is most likely suitable for joint creativity with a child, because it is very simple and does not require special skills and abilities.
Material and tools:
- leaves (children will be interested in collecting them with you);
- thin twigs for the stem;
- cardboard;
- PVA glue;
- green paint, acrylic is better, but gouache, watercolor are also suitable;
- tassel;
- half-liter glass jar;
- piece of fabric;
- rubber;
- satin ribbon.
On a piece of cardboard we glue the leaves in a circle with an overlap, and choose the largest ones.
We take the leaves for the next row a little less and place them in a checkerboard pattern relative to the previous ones.
The third, for our example, the last, row can be folded from three small leaves, or we can take the petals of dried flowers.
We can close the middle with a bead, a rhinestone, or we can glue a very small sheet and paint it. Here is a piece of cloth.
While our flowers are drying (choose the quantity yourself), we paint the branches green.
When all the parts are dry, we attach the flowers and individual leaves to the twig.
Now let's take a look at the bank. We decorate it with a cloth, fastening it to the neck with an elastic band, and cover the mount with a satin ribbon.
We place our flowers in a transformed jar. Although, if desired, it can be replaced with a beautiful vase.
As you can see, there is a lot of potential in autumn foliage. You can create amazing bouquet compositions by adding additional decor in the form of berries, dry herbs, cones, etc.
