Characteristics of Ostap and Andriy. Comparative characteristics of Ostap and Andriy. Analysis of the story "Taras Bulba". Comparative characteristics of Ostap and Andriy
Andriy and Ostap, siblings who grew up together, were brought up by their mother in the same way, since their father constantly took part in battles. But from receiving the same upbringing, they did not grow up the same, they have completely different features that determine the individuality of each.
Studying in Bursa, where the sons were sent by their father, was difficult for Ostap. Then his father resorted to severe punishments, after which Ostap began to study much more diligently and better. Already in Bursa, he showed himself to be a devoted comrade and a capable warrior. There is kindness and sincerity in him, but this does not prevent him from showing courage, firmness and seriousness. Honoring and respecting the traditions of the Zaporizhzhya Sich, he is sure that his duty is to protect his homeland. People for him are either enemies or friends, he clearly separates them. Always ready to help a friend. Rejects manifestations of the foreign.
Andriy, on the other hand, studied quite easily, in case of any difficulties, he got out of any situation, which more than once helped him avoid punishment. Andriy is the opposite of Ostap, he has a developed sense of beauty, he is drawn to the refined, he has a delicate taste and a certain softness and complaisance. However, he is also brave in battle and strives for freedom of choice.
In the first battle after graduating from the seminary in the Zaporizhzhya Sich, entering the battle on equal terms with the Cossacks, Ostap shows himself to be a cold-blooded and reasonable warrior. Andriy shows his fearlessness, he is completely immersed in the battle, enjoying it.
Andriy's desire for beauty, his softness and sensitivity lead to the fact that during the siege of the city of Dubno, he abandons his family, the Cossacks - for the sake of a Pole who turned Andriy's head.
Andriy becomes in the eyes of his father a traitor and a traitor. Ostap, a supporter of the Motherland, the interests of the family and comrades, becomes the chieftain and pride of his parent. In battle with enemies, he shows courage, but still gets captured.
Both brothers die a painful death. Enemies execute Ostap, his death is the death of a hero who did not utter a cry or a groan, who endured all the torments. Andriy dies at the hands of his father for the shame that he brought on the family.
Ostap and Andriy, brought up in the same conditions, differ from each other in their views on life, their idea of the values of this life is different. One is a patriot and the pride of the family, who chose the path of his father and brought it to life. The second is a traitor who turned away from his family and homeland, who died a shameful death.
Option 2
The heroes of the work "Taras Bulba" Ostap and Andriy. They are blood brothers, grew up together, received the same upbringing, but have completely opposite characters. The upbringing of the boys was mainly carried out by the mother, since the father did not have time.
Taras Bulba, being constantly at war, understood that his sons needed education. He had enough funds, so he sent them to study in Bursa.
Ostap- a wonderful warrior, a devoted comrade, in everything he strove to be like his father. By nature, he is kind, sincere, but at the same time serious, firm, courageous. Ostap observes and honors the traditions of the Zaporozhian Sich. He is convinced that it is his duty to defend the Motherland. Ostap is responsible, respects the opinions of the Cossacks, but never accepts the views of foreigners. He divides people into enemies and friends. Risking his own life, Ostap is ready to help his friend. It was hard for Ostap to study, he repeatedly ran away from the bursa. I even buried my primer. But after the harsh punishments of his father, he continues to study perfectly.
Andriy- completely different, not like a brother. Andriy has well-developed feelings for the beautiful, for the refined. It is softer, more docile, sensitive, has a delicate taste. But, despite this, he shows courage in battle and another important quality inherent in Andriy - freedom of choice. Studying Andriy was easy. Even if something went wrong, he always got out of the situation and avoided punishment.
After graduating from the seminary, the brothers and their father went to the Zaporozhian Sich. The Cossacks accepted them as equals. In battle, Andriy showed himself fearless, completely immersed in the battle. He enjoyed the fight, the whistle of bullets, the smell of gunpowder. Ostap was cold-blooded, but reasonable. He fought like a lion in battle. Taras Bulba was proud of his sons.
The siege of the city of Dubno changed the lives of the heroes once and for all. Andriy went over to the enemy side. The fact is that the Pole turned the head of the Cossack. Andriy gave up everything he had: parents, brother, friends. He was soft, sensitive, so he strove for beauty.
The meaning of Ostap's life was his parents, Motherland, comrades. He wouldn't trade them for anything. Therefore, he was elected chieftain. Ostap became his father's pride, but Andy became a traitor. Ostap fought to the end with foreigners, but the forces were unequal, the hero is captured.
Ostap and Andriy died a cruel death. Ostap was executed by his enemies. His death is the death of a hero. Not the slightest scream or groan escaped his lips. He endured all the trials and torments that fate had prepared for him. He was helped by a sense of patriotism and love for friends. He brought to life all the wishes and hopes of his father. Andria was killed by his own father for betrayal. Taras Bulba took the death of people close to him, his dear sons, hard. The death of Ostap - a real warrior, loyal to his father and people, and the death of Andriy - a traitor and traitor.
The two brothers, who received an identical upbringing, had different worldviews, values, and outlooks on life.
Comparison 3
These heroes in the works are shown as blood brothers who were brought up the same way, but they have completely different characters and temperaments. With regard to worldviews, the system of moral norms and values in young men is also shifted in different directions. Due to the fact that Taras did not have time for the full upbringing of the boys, their mother took care of them. However, still the father of the family took part in their development. He believed that they should receive a good education in order to comprehend the world. Then, the boys were sent to study in Bursa.
In the work, Ostap is shown as a very skilled warrior, a devoted comrade who had the desire to be like his own father in everything. He can be described as a kind, sincere, and at the same time serious and courageous young man. For him, the traditions of Zaporozhye are fundamental, and he considers it his duty to defend the Motherland. For him, the views of foreigners are alien and incomprehensible. He does not want to reckon with his enemies, and that is why he fights with them, as with some kind of evil, that he wants to change the foundations on his native land. For him, the concepts of friendship and enmity are clearly defined. He is not afraid to risk his own life for the sake of his comrades who find themselves in a difficult situation. At first, it was difficult for the young man to comprehend the basics of science, but after the punishment of his father, he began to study diligently and exponentially.
The image of Andriy is revealed in a completely different way. He did not resemble his brother either in character or in habits. The hero knew how to appreciate the beautiful and refined. He was a softer man than his brother and tried to think freely. With all this, he is no less brave than Ostap. The young man studied extremely diligently and well, and in difficult situations for himself, he always found some solution. In one of his first battles, the young man showed himself to be an incredibly brave warrior who was not afraid to go forward to the enemy.
It is worth noting that the brothers died a terrible death. Ostap was killed by enemies, and it is worth noting that his death was heroic, as he fought for the liberation of his people. Andriy died at the hands of his own father, because he went to betray his own people. It was very difficult for Taras to accept this decision, and the death of his sons was a terrible fact for him. The work shows the images of two people who were brought up in the same way, however, due to individual characteristics, they had completely different characters and worldviews.
Comparative characteristics of Andriy Ostap in the story Taras Bulba
The Cossacks are a widespread movement that includes camaraderie, support of friends, protection and devotion to native Ukraine. As a rule, the Cossacks did not disobey the orders of their elders and followed the path that their parents passed on to them, but there were exceptions.
So Gogol in his work "Taras Bulba" portrayed two brothers who were brought up in the same way, in equal conditions, but in the end they had a different fate. Andriy grew up affectionate and had good relationship with his mother, and his brother Ostap went after his father - he did not tolerate a woman's business. Already at school, the difference in characters was noticeable, Ostap did not like to study, and Andriy worked hard. Ostap famously fought with his fists and could beat anyone who would go against him, his parents or his homeland. So, when meeting with his father, he started a fight - he was not afraid. Further, both of them are tested in battle, Ostap immediately acted clearly according to plan, and his brother completely surrendered to emotions, but was also a brave warrior.
Gogol shows in his story how Andriy falls in love with a girl who professes a completely different faith and is considered his enemy. He brings her bread while everyone is sleeping, so that she does not starve to death, and stays with her, thereby renouncing his relatives and his native country. Ostap bravely dies in captivity of enemies. Andria is killed by his father for treason.
From the very beginning, it is clear that the brothers are completely different in character, and then in their actions. They have one thing in common - courage. Andriy's courage manifests itself in hidden help to the girl he loves, while Ostap shows courage in battle and in attacking the enemy. Their differences are that they have different opinions about honor and love, and therefore everyone has their own death. Ostap decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, adhering to the old nomes and customs, Andria was led by the feelings to which he succumbed.
Undoubtedly, each hero had his own positive and negative qualities like every person

The image of Ostap and Andriy in the story of N.V. Gogol "Taras Bulba".
The story of N.V. Gogol "Taras Bulba" is one of the best works about the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, on which the writer worked for almost ten years. The author shows the fate of the heroes of the story against the backdrop of the struggle of the Cossacks for their national liberation. N.V. Gogol reflects on the relationship between people, on the relationship between the concepts of duty, honor and love. For this purpose, the writer introduces into the narrative the images of two Cossacks, the sons of Taras Bulba, Ostap and Andriy. For the first time we meet Ostap and Andrey in their native parental yard. “...Two burly fellows, who still looked frowningly, like recently graduated seminarians. Their strong, healthy faces were covered with the first fluff of hair that a razor had not yet touched. The brothers received the same education, have similar character traits - courage, determination, courage, the ability to stand up for the truth to the end, not to betray themselves, their principles. Taras managed to instill in his sons an interest in Cossack life, instill in them courage and dexterity. But these qualities of character in the brothers are completely different: although Andrei was distinguished by courage in the bursa, it always led to disaster.
“Andriy had feelings somewhat more alive and somehow more developed ... more often he was the leader of a rather dangerous enterprise and sometimes, with the help of his inventive mind, he knew how to evade punishment.” Perseverance and feigned courage were combined in him: he knew how to wriggle out, cunning, even beg for mercy. Quite different is Ostap, who still stood out from the bursa with a clear mind and strong will. Honest and brave, he appears before us as a devoted comrade: “Ostap was always considered one of the best comrades… He never, in any case, betrayed his comrades… he was stern to other motives, except for war and a wild feast… he was straightforward with equals… he had kindness ... ". As soon as the young men get into the Zaporizhzhya Sich, they immediately acquire a good reputation among the Cossacks: both are dexterous, both are brave warriors. But even here their courage is not the same: Ostap is calm and always self-confident; for his clever courage, the Cossacks value him and it is not for nothing that they choose him as a hut chieftain after the death of the Bearded. But Andrei's courage turns out to be reckless and aimless; he thinks little about what he is fighting for. He does not have sincere love for his homeland and friends, and therefore blind love for the enemy's daughter quickly turns him into a traitor. He forgets the sacred feelings of fidelity to the fatherland and society: “And what is my father, comrades, fatherland to me! … I don’t have anyone!”. And here he stands, cowardly, worthless, before the court of his father. Shameful was his life, shameful and his death. Here we see Ostap in the last battle, after which he is captured. Enduring inhuman suffering, he did not even moan; his death was worthy and majestic. After reading the story, we are convinced that only sincere love for the motherland, honest service to it exalts a person, and insidiousness and cowardice makes it worthless.

1. Historical tale"Taras Bulba"
2. Comparative characteristics of Ostap and Andriy
3. My attitude towards the main characters.
Gogol's story "Taras Bulba" tells about the heroic deeds of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, who defended the Russian land from enemies. On the example of the family of Taras Bulba, the writer showed the manners and customs of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks of those years.
There were severe morals in the Sich. There they taught nothing but discipline, sometimes they shot at a target and rode horses, and occasionally went hunting. “The Cossack loves to sleep under the free sky, so that not the low ceiling of the hut, but the starry canopy is above his head, and there was no more honor for the Cossack than to stand up for his will, there was no other law than military partnership.”
Gogol to create multifaceted and expressive images of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, a true legend of the stormy, wartime, heroic time.
The main characters of the story are two brothers Ostap and Andriy, who grew up and brought up in the same conditions, they are so different in character and outlook on life.
Ostap is an impeccable fighter, a reliable comrade. He is silent, calm, reasonable. Ostap continues and honors the traditions of his fathers and grandfathers. For him, there is never a problem of choice, hesitation between feelings and duty. He is amazingly wholesome. Unconditionally accepts Ostap Zaporozhye way of life, the ideals and principles of senior comrades. Respectfulness never turns into obsequiousness, he is ready to take the initiative, but he respects the opinions of other Cossacks. At the same time, he will never be interested in the opinion, the view of "strangers" - infidels, foreigners. Ostap sees the world as harsh and simple. There are enemies and friends, our own and others. He is not interested in politics, he is a straightforward, brave, loyal and stern warrior. Ostap thinks only of battles, he passionately dreams of feats of arms and is ready to die for his Motherland.
Andriy is the complete opposite of his brother. Gogol showed differences not only human, but also historical. Ostap and Andriy are almost the same age, but these are types belonging to different historical times. Ostap from a heroic and primitive era, Andriy is internally close to the later time of a developed and refined culture and civilization, when politics and trade take the place of war and robbery. Andriy is softer, more refined, more flexible than his brother. He is endowed with great sensitivity to the alien, "other", greater sensitivity. Andriy Gogol marked the rudiments of fine taste, a sense of beauty. It cannot, however, be called weaker. He is characterized by courage in battle and a much more important quality - the courage to make an independent choice. Passion leads him into the camp of the enemy, but there is more behind this. Andriy now wants to fight for his own, what he himself found and called his own, and did not receive by inheritance, by tradition.
The two brothers must become enemies. Both perish, one at the hands of enemies, the other at the hands of his father. You can't call one good and the other bad.
It is difficult not to bow before the courage, courage and steadfastness of Ostap. But such an all-consuming love of Andrii also cannot be ignored. You need to have no less courage to agree to leave everything for the sake of love: home, relatives, friends, homeland. I can’t say who I like more, which one of them I would choose as a positive hero. I think that in each case, the heart itself tells you what to do. And from their point of view, both Ostap and Andriy are right in their actions. This is what real men do, they die either for the Motherland or for the woman they love.
The image of Ostap and Andriy in the story by N.V. Gogol "Taras Bulba"
In the story "Taras Bulba" N.V. Gogol glorifies the heroism of the Russian people. Russian critic V.G. Belinsky wrote: "Taras Bulba is an excerpt, an episode from the great epic of the life of an entire nation." And N.V. Gogol wrote about his work as follows: “Then there was that poetic time when everything was mined with a saber, when everyone, in turn, strove to be an actor, and not a spectator.”
Using the family of Taras as an example, Gogol showed the manners and customs of the Zaporozhye Cossacks of those years. Taras Bulba was a wealthy Cossack and could afford to send his children to study in the Bursa. He wanted his children to grow up not only strong and courageous, but also educated people. Taras believed that if children grow up at home, next to their mother, then good Cossacks will not come out of them, because every Cossack must "feel the battle."
The eldest son Ostap did not want to study: he ran away from the bursa several times, but he was returned; he buried textbooks, but new ones were bought for him. And one day Taras told Ostap that if he did not study, he would be sent to a monastery for twenty years. Only this threat forced Ostap to continue his studies. When Ostap and his friends did all sorts of pranks, he took all the blame on himself and did not betray his friends. And Andriy loved to study and was the instigator of all pranks. But he always managed to escape punishment. Despite the differences, Ostap and Andriy had a solid character, only Ostap manifested this in devotion to the cause and homeland, and Andriy in love for the beautiful lady.
There were severe morals in the Sich. There they taught nothing but discipline, sometimes they shot at a target and rode horses, and occasionally went hunting. “The Cossack loves to sleep under the free sky, so that not the low ceiling of the hut, but the starry canopy is above his head, and there was no more honor for the Cossack than to stand up for his will, there was no other law than military partnership.” “The plowman breaks his plow, the brewers and brewers threw their caddies and broke the barrels, the craftsman and the merchant sent both the craft and the shop to hell, broke the pots in the house. And everything that was mounted on a horse. In a word, the Russian character here received a wide, powerful scope and a dozen appearance.
The Zaporizhian Cossacks arose in the lower reaches of the Dnieper on the islands beyond the rapids. There were a lot of people there. In the 16th century, the future Ukraine and Belarus were part of the Commonwealth. Religious persecution caused resistance and uprisings against the Polish state. It was in this harsh time that Gogol's heroes had to live.
Ostap was written by the family "the way of battle and the difficult knowledge to manage military affairs."
Ostap was written by the family "the way of battle and the difficult knowledge to manage military affairs." The inclinations of the future leader were noticeable in him. "Fortress breathed his body, and his knightly qualities have already acquired the broad strength of a lion." But fate was not destined for Ostap to become a great commander and leader. In the battle near Dubno, he was captured and, having endured terrible torture, was executed on Warsaw Square. Ostap is the embodiment of devotion to faith, duty and comrades.
Andriy is the complete opposite of his older brother. He was completely immersed in "the charming music of bullets and swords." He did not know what it means to calculate in advance one's own or other people's strength. Under the influence of his feelings, he was able not only to fight heroically, but also to betray his comrades. Love for the beautiful lady killed the youngest son Taras. Yielding to feelings, he forgot his love for the Motherland and his duty to his comrades, and a bullet fired by the hand of his own father with the words: “I gave birth to you, I will kill you,” cut short Andriy’s young life.
Gogol describes Ostap, Andriy, and Taras with great love. His story sounds like a hymn to the fatherland, to the heroism of compatriots. Andriy, for the sake of his feelings, was not afraid to give up his faith, his family, and went against his homeland. Ostap inspires respect for his devotion to the common cause, unshakable faith and steadfastness.
Gogol's story "Taras Bulba" can be compared with Homer's poems. His heroes are perceived as epic heroes: "Is there really such fires, torments and such a force in the world that would overpower the Russian force."
Ostap and Andriy "Taras Bulba"
The main characters of the story "Taras Bulba" by Nikolai Vasilevich Gogol - Ostap and Andriy
Their father, an experienced colonel Taras Bulba, had a great influence on them. Ostap fully agreed with his father, his goal in life was to visit the Zaporizhzhya Sich and accomplish a feat. Its motto is "fight and feast". Andriy saw a different meaning in life. He studied more willingly than his brother, was interested in art. He did not despise women, like his father and other Cossacks. Andriy, like Ostap, recognized his father as his only judge.
Both Ostap and Andriy are proud, with a sense of their own dignity. Both brothers are dora, but Ostap - to Andriy, his father, the Cossacks, and Andriy - even to the enemy: he took pity on the Pole. The brothers were patriots, defenders of the Motherland, but Andriy could not cope with his feelings and became a traitor.
Ostap did not want to study in the bursa and even buried his textbook four times. But when Taras got angry and said that Ostap would never see the Setch if he did not study at the bursa, Ostap became a diligent, industrious and diligent student, one of the first. He was a good, reliable comrade, the Bursaks respected him, willingly obeyed. He was honest and straightforward - when he was punished, he did not evade. Andriy was inventive, cunning, dexterous, and avoided punishment. He is the leader of the Bursaks, but at the same time secretive, loves solitude. He has developed aesthetic taste.
Already in the first battles, it became clear that Andriy was frivolous, courageous, desperate and saw in the battle "mad bliss and rapture", "passionate passion". And Ostap, cold-blooded, prudent, calm, self-confident, prudent, reasonable, thought through his actions.
"O! Yes, it will eventually be a good colonel! - Taras spoke about Ostap, - she-she will be a good colonel, and even such that even the father will shut up in his belt! And about Andriy, he said: “And this is good - the enemy would not have taken him! - warrior! not Ostap, but a kind, kind warrior too!
The Battle of Dubno is a decisive test for Andriy and Ostap. After her, at night, Andriy was the limit of the Motherland, comrades, family. And when the next day he went out to beat his own people, Taras cursed him and executed his own judgment on him - he killed him.
The writing.Comparative characteristics of the images of Ostap and Andriy.
My acquaintance with Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol's story "Taras Bulba" began with vivid impressions from the film of the same name. Well, it just so happened, I saw the movie before. The roles of Ostap and Andriy in the film directed by Vladimir Bortko were played by Vladimir Vdovichenkov and Igor Petrenko. When reading the story, I imagined these movie characters.
I noticed a big difference in the strength of the impact. Of course, when reading the episode of the execution of Ostap, you empathize and understand what kind of torment the hero is experiencing. But when you watch this scene in the film, in which Ostap, exhausted by torture and hung on a hook, desperately says: “Father! Where are you? Do you hear?”, - he catches his breath and rises a lump to his throat. And when Taras shouts back to his son: “I hear, son, I hear!” - Tears well up.
Ostap and Andriy, the sons of Taras Bulba, after graduating from the Kyiv bursa, returned home. The brothers were healthy and strong, stately and handsome. They love and honor their father and mother. This is how we see them at the beginning of the story. Over the years of study, differences in the characters of the two brothers also appear. Ostap's perseverance and pride, softness, compliance and Andriy's ability to make deals with his conscience.
Ostap has a strong character. The years spent at the academy hardened the young man. Ostap “did not get rid of the inexorable rods. Naturally, this was supposed to somehow harden the character and tell him the firmness that always distinguished the Cossacks. Ostap has always been a faithful comrade, he is simple and at the same time fair in relation to others.
The older brother never betrayed his friends. Scourges and rods could not make him do it. “He was stern to other motives, except for war and reckless revelry; at least never thought of anything else. It becomes clear to us that Ostap is very similar to his father - he is also little attached to civilian life, so he is easily ready to leave it for the sake of battles. The only thing that upsets and touches him are his mother's tears.
Andriy at first glance differs little from Ostap. He is also strong, smart and brave. But still there are differences. Gogol says about him: "His younger brother, Andriy, had feelings somewhat more alive and somehow more developed." He was very resourceful, and this often helped him avoid punishment during his studies in the bursa. "He also seethed with a thirst for achievement, but along with it, his soul was also available to other feelings." From the age of eighteen, Andriy began to feel the "need for love." In this he differs sharply from his brother. Ostap was above all a stern warrior, his view of
the world is very simple. There are enemies and friends, our own and others. Andriy, on the other hand, was more attached to a peaceful life, he was drawn to beauty and art.
In one month, young Cossacks matured in battles, and old Taras is pleased to see that both of his sons are among the first. "O! Yes, it will eventually be a good colonel! - Taras said about Ostap, - and even such that even the dad will shut up in his belt! And about Andriy, he said: “And this is good - the enemy would not have taken him! - warrior! not Ostap, but a kind, kind warrior too!
Ostap was written by the family "the way of battle and the difficult knowledge to manage military affairs." The inclinations of the future ataman were noticeable in him. "Fortress breathed his body, and his knightly qualities have already acquired the broad strength of a lion." Ostap is devoted to faith, duty and comrades. He is silent, calm, reasonable. Ostap continues and honors the traditions of his fathers and grandfathers. For him, there is never a problem of choice and hesitation between feelings and duty. Ostap inspires respect for his devotion to the Cossacks, unshakable faith and steadfastness. With dignity he meets death. The Polish executioners failed to break him.
Already in the first battles, it became clear that Andriy was frivolous, courageous, desperate and saw in the battle "mad bliss and rapture", "passionate passion". He was completely immersed in "the charming music of bullets and swords." He did not know what it meant to calculate in advance one's own or other people's strength. Love makes Andriy commit a crime. At first it is very difficult to condemn him, because he wants to help a woman who is dying of hunger. Andria is blinded by love. He commits a betrayal, goes over to the side of the enemy.
Andriy renounces his homeland, loyalty to his people, his father and brother, and even his Orthodox faith. After all, he killed his Cossack brothers, fighting on the side of the Catholic Poles. “Who said that my homeland is Ukraine? Who gave it to me in the homeland? The fatherland is what our soul seeks, which is sweeter for it than anything. My homeland is you!... And everything that is, I will sell, give, destroy for such a homeland! ”He says to his beloved. Andrii was punished by his father. He, like his brother, met death with dignity, not begging for mercy.
Did Andriy have a choice? Yes, there was. He could kidnap a Polish woman and return to the camp with his comrades. In those days, many Cossacks did this. They captured Turkish, Greek, Tatar women and forcibly took them as wives. Betrayal for the sake of love - Andriy makes such a choice. There is no justification for this betrayal.
The death of sons is a tragedy for Taras Bulba. Ostap remains a hero in our memory, and Andriy a traitor. The integrity of the nature of the brothers, their ability to uphold their understanding of the truth and their choice to the end inspires respect. Even at the cost of life.
Taras Bulba is a wonderful work of a brilliant author. this work came out from under the pen, which on the pages of the story introduces us to young people. Their images accompany us throughout the work. Important events take place around them and with their help the theme of love for the Motherland is revealed, human values are revealed. These are the sons of Taras Bulba Ostap and Andriy, whose comparison we will make.
Andriy and Ostap are two brothers who were brought up the same way. They played the same games, got the same knowledge. But, as they say, there are no identical children, and here the brothers Ostap and Andriy were completely different.
Already in the theological seminary, where the boys received their education and where spiritual values were laid in them, one could see the differences in their characters.
Ostap and Andriy a brief description of the heroes
So, giving a brief description of the brothers, we can say that the elder Ostap was a kind, straightforward, faithful comrade who never led, but did not give out the pranks of his friends. This is a man with a strong character, for whom rods were not terrible. Ostap accepts all punishments with dignity. He studies reluctantly, and even runs away several times, until his father threatened him with deprivation of the opportunity to get to the Zaporozhian Sich. After that, the guy took up his mind and finished the bursa no worse than others.
The younger Andriy, on the contrary, gnaws at science with pleasure, while study itself is easy for him. He is a dreamer and a romantic. He loves to walk the streets, admiring the surrounding beauty, he is open to love. Unlike his brother, he often becomes the leader of any undertakings, while always trying to evade punishment.
The difference in the characters of the two brothers manifested itself when, according to the plot, the guys with their father end up with the Cossacks in the Zaporizhzhya Sich. Two strong, healthy fellows, good physique. They were in good standing, were excellent shooters, physically developed warriors. And soon they had the opportunity to prove themselves in battle.
Comparing the two heroes, we see Ostap in the battle with the Poles, who calmly calculates a possible threat. All actions of Ostap are reasonable, and his behavior is calm. He manages to find a way out of any situation. The younger brother rushes into the battle with his head, forgetting everything. For him, the battle is a pleasure, for him the whistle of a saber or a bullet is like music that intoxicates. The father was proud of his sons, and despite the fact that they were different, he saw them as brave Cossacks. But in the besieged city, Andriy meets a Polish girl whom he saw earlier. Feelings for her woke up, and for the sake of love, he betrays the Motherland, becomes a traitor, abandons his comrades and goes over to the side of the enemy. Such actions are not forgiven. Killing his son, the unfortunate father did not forgive him either. Ostap remains true to his duty, and dies at the hands of the enemy in battle, like a hero.
My attitude towards Ostap and Andriy
Having become acquainted with the characteristics of Ostap and Andriy, I cannot say who is closer to me, and on which side I ended up. Both brothers are goodies with different fates. It's just that the younger brother could not go against the feelings that arose, and for his sake he decided to betray. But for this I do not presume to judge him. Who knows what we would have done, and what we would have chosen, being in Andriy's place. But the eldest son is very sorry, because he was expected by a cruel death, which he met with his head held high.
