Verily, we belong to Allah and to him we shall return. Let what is lost not upset us, and what is gained does not cause joy We all belong to Allah and to him
One of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), Abu Hureyra (radiyallahu anhu), transmitted the story of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Three Jews lived: pockmarked, bald and blind. Allah decided to test them and sent an angel to them. An angel came to the pock-marked man and asked him:
Clear skin, beautiful body. People avoid me because of my illness. The angel stroked the pockmarked skin, and the spots disappeared. The patient's body became beautiful, and the skin clear. Then the angel asked again:
- What animal do you like the most?
“Camel,” the healed man replied.
And he was gifted with a camel, pregnant in the tenth month. Saying goodbye: “May these gifts of Allah be blessed for you,” the angel disappeared.
Then an angel appeared next to the bald man and asked him too:
- What do you want the most?
“Let this baldness disappear, and let people not mock me. The angel patted him on the head, and he had magnificent hair. The angel asked again:
What animal do you need the most?
“A cow,” the former bald man replied.
And Allah gave him a pregnant cow. Saying goodbye: "May this cow be blessed for you,"
- the angel was transferred to the blind man and asked him too:
- What would you like the most?
“May Allah restore my eyesight to me so that I can see people. The angel touched his eyes, and the sight returned to the sick man. And his angel asked:
What animal would you most like to have?
“Sheep,” said the former blind man. The angel in response handed him a dry sheep.
After some time, the camel and the cow, presented to the pockmarked and bald man, calved. The blind man's sheep brought a lamb. Then the pockmarked man had a large herd of camels, the bald man had a herd of cows, and the blind man had a flock of sheep. And the angel decided to visit each of them and test them. At first he came to the pock-marked man and said:
“I am a poor and unfortunate stranger. On the way, I spent all the money and can not get back to my homeland. I ask Allah to help me get home. For the sake of the Almighty
Allah, who gave you such a beautiful face and appearance, such riches, I ask you for one camel.
The former pockmarked exclaimed:
“There are a lot of beggars here who want good things. I can’t give everyone who asks for one camel!
“I seem to remember you. Are you not the one that people avoided? Are you not the one who was poor and to whom Allah gave riches? the angel reminded him.
“No, I inherited all these riches from my grandfathers,” the pock-marked man lied.
- If you are lying, then may Allah Almighty return you to your previous state! said the angel.
After that, the angel appeared before the former bald man and tested him in the same way as the pockmarked one. He also refused the angel.
The angel said goodbye to him:
“If you lie, then may Allah make you what you were before!”
Finally, the angel appeared to that blind man, whose eyes he once touched, and said:
“I am a poor and unfortunate person wandering far from my homeland. While I was wandering, I ran out of money and did not
I can get home. Only Allah will bring me home, and I hope that you will help me. For the sake of Allah Almighty, who restored your sight, I ask you to give me one
a sheep so that I can pay for my journey home.
The former blind man replied:
Truly, I was blind. Allah has brought light back into my eyes. I was poor. Allah made me rich. You need a sheep, take as much as you want. For the sake of Allah Almighty being pleased, I cannot refuse you anything.
- May all your wealth remain with you. Allah wanted to test you three. And He is pleased with you. And those two, the pockmarked one and the bald one, found their own punishment, - having said this,
the angel is gone.
Bukhari, Anbiya, 51; Muslim, Zuhd, 10
And bn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“... The slave is waiting for the return to Allah, his true Lord and Master. A slave will surely leave this world behind him. A person will surely come to his Lord in the form in which He created him for the first time. He will come without a family, without property, without relatives. With a person there will be only his good and bad deeds. If this is the end of a man, then how can he rejoice in what he has, or despair because of what he has lost?
See Zad al-Ma'ad
2.155. We will certainly test you with minor fear, hunger, loss of property, people and fruits. Rejoice, then, those who are patient, 156. who, when trouble befalls them, say: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and we will return to Him.” 157. They are rewarded with the blessing of their Lord and mercy. They follow the straight path.
As-Sa'di: In this verse, Allah says that without a doubt He will test us with disasters and problems, this will certainly happen in order to distinguish who is truthful and patient and who is not. This is the way of Allah, because if happiness is constant, not interrupted by difficulties, then good people will mix with bad ones, they will not be able to see where is good and where is bad. This difficult examination is not needed for believers to lose their faith and destroy them, but to purify them. and society, distinguishing between good and evil.
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ- We will certainly test you
Ibn Uthaymeen:
Here Allah confirmed 3 times that he will test the believers.
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ:
1) وَ is an oath (Allah swears)
2) لَ - for confirmation
3) نَّ - truly.
بِشَيْءٍ-something (minor).
As-Sa'di:
Allah notes that it will be insignificant because if He tests a person with complete fear, hunger, etc., then this will destroy the person, but Allah only wants to purify him.
Ibn Uthaymeen
: In this verse, Allah mentions five types of misfortunes:
1. الْخَوْفِ- fear.
This includes general and particular meaning. An example of general fear, when the whole country is in fear of the enemy, and private, when an individual is afraid of something or someone.
2. الْجُوعِ-hunger
Ibn Uthaymeen gave an example of famine:
when a person does not have money to buy food, or there is not enough food, or there is none at all, or he is sick and cannot eat. No one understands how severe hunger is until he himself experiences it.
3. نَقْصٍ مِنَ الأمْوَالِ - loss of property
This is not only money, but also furniture, house, transport and other property. Example, theft, accident, fire, etc.
4. الأنْفُسِ-people
As-Sa'di:
When children die or get sick, relatives, the person himself.
5. الَّثمَرَاتِ-fruits
Not only vegetables and fruits, but also seeds. Example, crop failure, hurricane, etc.
وَبَشّـِرِ الصَّابِرِينَ - Give joy to those who are patient
As-Sa'di:-These 5 calamities will definitely happen, because Allah told us about it. When this happens, people are usually divided into 2 groups: patient and not. Allah knows who is patient and who is not, but He wants, so that it becomes clear to the person himself and to those around him.
Whoever is impatient will receive 2 types of misfortunes:
a) The disaster itself.
b) He will lose the reward from Allah for patience, his faith will decrease, and he will also lose the reward for the pleasure of Allah and gratitude to Him for the predestined.
Whoever Allah has guided and helped to be patient so that he controlled his speech and expected a reward from Allah for patience knowing that the rewards for patience are greater than the disaster itself, then this disaster will be good for him. Therefore, let those who are patient rejoice who will receive their rewards for their patience without number.
مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ و رَاجِعُونَ (156
156. who, when trouble befalls them, say: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we will return.”
This verse describes the patient.
مُصِيبَةٌ-calamity
As-Sa'di:
any kind of affliction that brings pain to the body or soul, or both.
قَالُوا - they say
Ibn Uthaymeen:
They speak both in their seat and in their tongue.
إِنَّا لِلّهِ - Verily, we belong to Allah
لِ - indicates ownership
Those. we (people, creatures) belong to the kingdom of Allah and He does with us what He wills.
As-Sa'di:
It means that we are the slaves of Allah and are in His power and under His orders, therefore we should not protest this. Having faith in this, we will be pleased with Allah and be grateful to Him because we know that Allah has done what is good for us even if we are unconscious.
وإِنّآ إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ - and verily, we shall return to Him
Means that we will also return to Him on the Day of Judgment. If we have patience and hope for a reward, we will find it on the Day of Judgment.
Ibn Uthaymeen:
It will be better than what was lost in this life.
Ibn Uthaymeen: THE BENEFITS OF THE AYAH
1) These disasters will be a test for man and a lesson for others.
2) The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “Whoever is pleased, that is contentment, and whoever is angry, that is anger.” (Albani, Hasan.)
3) Patience in adversity is Wajib. If you are satisfied, then it will be Sunnah.
The difference between the one who endures and the one who also has contentment in a predetermined disaster is that the patient suffers in trouble, and the one who is still content will not suffer so much, having peace in his soul. He will endure the disaster with less difficulty than just patient .Everything depends on a person's closeness to Allah, his preparedness for trouble.
4) Gratitude is the highest level. Gratitude to Allah for the disaster that has befallen in order to:
a) get a reward for it.
b) gratitude that worse did not happen.
Being angry at predestination is haraam, and discontent is one of the great sins.
5) One of the qualities of the patient is that they rely on Allah with all their heart and in words, meeting with trouble. The duty to say the words from the verse: “InnA lillahi wa InnA Ilayhi raji'Una-Verily, we belong to Allah and we will return to Him.” And you can add from the Sunnah: “Allahumma jurni fi musybati wa Akhlif li khaira minha-O Allah reward me in my misfortune and give me the best in return.” (Muslim.) Example, Um Salama (glad to Allah 'ankhA) said this after the death of her husband and Allah gave her the husband of a prophet.
اُوْلَئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَاتٌ مِن رَبّـِهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ وَاُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُهْتَدُونَ
.157
157. They are rewarded with the blessing of their Lord and mercy. They follow the straight path.
اُوْلَئِكَ - they are those
Ibn Uthaymeen:
it is a word for those who are far away, i.e. those people on a high level before Allah for their patience.
عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَاتٌ - receive the blessing of their Lord.
Allah praises them in heaven before the angels.
وَرَحْمَةٌ-and mercy
That is, they will have different types of mercy, and in particular their praise before the inhabitants of heaven.
وَاُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُهْتَدُونَ - They follow the straight path
As-Sa'di:
The verse shows that the impatient will have the opposite of the 3 things indicated for the patient: 1) صَلَوَاتٌ - praise, 2) رَحْمَةٌ - mercy, 3) هِدايَة - straight path.
Instead of praise, they are censured; instead of mercy, they are punished; and instead of a straight path, they are deceived.
These verses prepare a person to face difficulties and calamities before they come, so that they can be overcome more easily.
I begin with the name of the Merciful Allah. Praise be to the Almighty, peace and blessings be upon our master, the Messenger of Allah, his family and companions and all those who followed him.
Allah testify that we love You, Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and all those who love You Both.
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the women of the Ansar: She who lost three children and showed patience will enter Paradise ". One of them asked: What if two people die, O Messenger of Allah?". The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Even if you lose two ". Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is truthful. This hadith was narrated by Imam Muslim. The meaning of the words "having patience" means that she hopes for a reward in eternal life, showing patience in worldly life. This is one of the great hadiths of the Messenger of Allah, which brings up in us readiness for any situation. It teaches us the manifestation of patience, in the event of troubles, in which the eternal, divine reward is hidden. Think of a woman who has lost a child, whose heart holds a strong love for the child. The Almighty put this love in the heart of a woman.
The mother does not know where this love comes from, and people do not understand the reason for this love. But this love is real love, because true love does not ask questions “why do you love?” "What do you love for?" She loves and that's enough. And when a mother loses a child, she shudders all over. This also applies to the father of the child, but he perceives this with clarity of mind. This is the true love of a mother for her children. And if a woman who has lost a child, then a second, and then a third, shows patience, then she will become the righteous favorite of Allah and close to Him. The Almighty gave her trials, but she withstood them.
This great hadeeth teaches us patience. What is patience? As the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says about this, it manifests itself from the very beginning. Based on this, if a woman who has lost a child says: Allah is sufficient for us. How beautiful He is as a patron". That is, “I rely on the Almighty, Who gave me a child, and He took it away. I submit to His will and am pleased with His decision.” Such behavior is a great boon. And if another misfortune overtakes her, which causes repeated pain, she again shows patience, trusts in the Almighty. After all, these children were ahead of her on the way to Paradise. They will become intercessors for their mother. Her child will take her by the hand and lead her to Paradise. This is both a blessing and a test. The test is that she endured the pain of loss. The reward is that this test becomes the cause of the contentment of the Almighty and will lead her to Paradise. Ahirat is in fact real life, so it is eternal, in which there is no death. Death in the form of a ram will be brought to a place between Heaven and Hell and slaughtered, and a voice will say:
« O inhabitants of hell, this is life after which there is no death. O inhabitants of Paradise, this is life after which there is no death ».
So, before us is a temper, in the education of which there is a need. Many people oppose the will of the Almighty. They pay attention to the reward of the Almighty, they see only loss, disasters and their feelings. We live in times of turmoil. There is a lot of crime going on these days. The companions asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): What is a crime?" He replied: " Crime is murder ". The number of murders has increased, it has come to the point that the killer does not know whom he has killed, and the victim does not know why he was killed. Verily, we belong to Allah and to Him is our return. In our time, some mothers behave exemplarily, showing patience in times of difficult trials, which will be written to them before the Almighty.
Due to the fact that a woman endures the loss of a child with her whole being, because, having lost a child, she, as it were, loses herself, and therefore the Almighty, addressing her, comforts her: “ " (Sura "Production", ayat 66). The preposition "S" in Arabic carries many meanings. We are speaking: " The vizier came with the Sultan". Do not speak: " The sultan came with the vizier". Just think, the Almighty says: Indeed, Allah is with the patient ". This was not said by Muhammad the son of Abdullah (peace and blessings be upon him). These words were spoken by the Lord of the Worlds, thereby exalting the patient ones. We understand that the Almighty exalted them by the fact that the word patient is pronounced in the verse after the preposition "S". According to the rules of the Arabic language, it was necessary to say: "Truly patient with Allah." This is the correct use of this preposition. However, the sentence: “Verily, Allah is with the patient,” coming from the Lord of the worlds, indicates a special greatness. And only He who possesses this greatness can magnify the patient. The Almighty has true greatness, and all power belonged and belongs to Him alone.
This hadeeth is also relevant for our time. Many mothers have lost their sons. Someone died as a result of unrest, someone was overtaken by a violent death, someone died a natural death or for some other reason. In any case, this is a loss for the mother. We must face this loss with patience. If we show patience and contentment with the decision of the Almighty, as it says in the verse “ Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah (Sura “The Clear Sign”, verse 8), then this will eventually lead us to Paradise.
If you walk the earth, being at the same time the one who deserves Paradise, then no matter how many troubles and misfortunes overtake you, you are in the pleasure of Allah. And it is enough for you that Allah looks at you.
The short period of time that you spend in the mortal world will pass quickly. Death is predetermined for everyone. How long will you live? A hundred years? It is like three minutes for the Almighty.
« The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in (one) day, the value of which (is) (by the standards of this life) fifty thousand years. (And for the believer, the duration of this day will seem like just one prayer.) Be patient reverently, because this seems to people distant, but We see that it is close. "(Sura "Steps", verses 4-7).
If you divide 50,000 years by 24 hours, then an hour will equal 2083 years, and one minute will equal 33 years. That is, 100 years of our life are like three minutes before the Almighty. Imagine that after suffering three minutes, you will pass into the Eternal World, in which there is no death.
Praise be to God, Who made us Muslims.
Transcript of the sheikh's sermon Ali Juma
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever saves forty hadiths for my Ummah, they will say on the Day of Judgment: “Enter Paradise from whichever gate you wish.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “How wonderful is the position of a believer! Verily, everything in his position is good for him, and this is (not given) to anyone except the believer: if something pleases him, he thanks (Allah), and this becomes good for him, but if grief befalls him, he manifests patience, and that also becomes good for him.” (Muslim)
“When Allah loves people, He sends them trials. If they show contentment, then they will receive contentment. Those who show anger will only deserve anger.” Another version of this hadith: “Verily, the magnitude of the reward corresponds to the magnitude of trials and troubles, and verily, if Allah loves any people, He sends trials (troubles) on them. And the one who shows contentment (before the test), that too is the contentment of Allah. The one who is angry, to him is the wrath of Allah ”(At-Tirmizi, Ibn Maja)
In a hadith narrated by At-Tirmidhi, it is said: “Know: what has passed should not have happened to you, and what happened to you should not have passed you. And know that there is no victory without patience, no discovery without loss, no relief without hardship.”
It is reported from the words of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whatever befalls a Muslim, whether it be fatigue, illness, anxiety, sadness, trouble, sorrow or even a prick of a thorn, Allah will certainly Forgive him some of his sins for this.” (Al-Bukhari) Another version of this hadith says: “Whatever sadness, anxiety or misfortune befalls a believer, it will certainly become an atonement for his sins, even if he is simply pricked by a thorn” (Al-Bukhari)
From Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The trials will not stop befalling the believer and the believer in their bodies, in their property, in their offspring until they meet their Lord cleansed from sins” (Ahmad, Bukhari, Tirmizi). Another version of this hadith says: “A Muslim or a Muslim woman will be constantly tested by diseases, property, children, until they meet Allah clean, without any sin.” (Ahmad)
From Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, it is transmitted that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When Allah wishes good for his slave, He punishes him already in this world. If He wants bad things for His servant, then he postpones the punishment until the Day of Judgment ”(Tirmizi, Ibn Maja)
From Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, it is transmitted: “One day a Bedouin came, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him: “Have you ever been ill with a fever?” The Bedouin asked, "What is a fever?" The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Heat between the skin and the meat." He replied: "No." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked: “Have you ever felt a headache?” The Bedouin asked, "What is a headache?" The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "The force that creates pressure in the head, breaking out the sweat." The Bedouin again answered, "No." When he left, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever wants to look at a person from the inhabitants of the Fire, then let him look at him (at this Bedouin)” (Bukhari)
It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that once the Prophet ﷺ passed by a woman who was crying at the grave, and said: “Fear Allah and be patient,” to which she replied, not recognizing him: “Go away, for you have not experienced such trouble." When she was informed that it was the Prophet ﷺ, she came to him and apologized for not recognizing him. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: “The patience of a person is recognized at the moment of sending down trouble.” (Al-Bukhari)
Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her, said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:“ If any of the servants of Allah suffers misfortune, and he says: “Verily, we belong to Allah and to Him is our return! O Allah, reward me in my misfortune and give me something better in return! ”, Then the Almighty will certainly reward him in trouble and give him something better in return. And when Abu Salamah died, I said what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to say, and Allah replaced him with someone who became better for me than him - the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ”(Muslim)
“No man has been given anything better or more extensive than patience.” (Muslim)
“When a trouble befalls someone and he hides it without complaining, then Allah undertakes to forgive his sins” (Kanzul Ummal, No. 6696)
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If any of you looks at the one who was granted more wealth and who was endowed with a more attractive appearance, let him look at the one who is lower than him (for that matter)." Or in another version: “Look at those who are below you, and do not look at those who are above you. This will help you not to belittle those favors of Allah with which He has blessed you ”(Al-Bukhari, Muslim)
Attaw ibn Abu Rabah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Ibn Abbas asked me:“ Show you a woman from the inhabitants of Paradise? I replied: "Show me." He said: “This woman (Umma Zafar, may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Prophet ﷺ and said that she was suffering from epilepsy and asked him to make dua for her recovery. The Prophet ﷺ told her: “If you want, be patient and you will have Paradise, or if you want, I will ask Allah for health for you.” She said that she would be patient, but asked for a dua so that she would not be naked when an attack occurs, and he made a dua ”(Al-Bukhari, Muslim)
It was narrated from the words of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah Almighty says: “I will have no other reward than paradise for My believing slave, if I take away from the people whom he loved, and he will meekly endure the loss in the hope of the reward of Allah ”(Al-Bukhari)
Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Jibril, peace be upon him: "What was the grief of Yakub for Yusuf?" Jibril replied: "She was equal to the grief of seventy mothers who lost their sons!" "Then what was the reward for that?" - the Prophet ﷺ asked him. "Equal to the reward of a hundred who fell in the path of Allah, for he never for a moment lost hope in Allah" ”(Tabari, XIII, 61; Suyuti, ad-Durrul-Mansur, IV, 570, Yusuf, 86)
It was narrated from the words of Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “Verily, Allah said:“ If I test My servant (by depriving him) of his two loved ones, and he becomes patient, Paradise will be his recompense from Me.” By "two favorites" they mean the eyes. Another version of this hadith: “If I test My servant with his eyes (I take away his eyesight) and he shows patience, then I will replace it with Paradise” (Al-Bukhari)
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Once I went to the Prophet ﷺ, who was suffering from a strong fever, and said to him: “What a strong fever you have!” And I said, "Is this because you are destined for a double reward?" He said: “Yes, and any Muslim who suffers, Allah will surely free him from (the burden of) his sins, just as a tree is freed from its leaves” (Al-Bukhari). Another version of this hadith:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him: “Once I came to visit the Prophet ﷺ, who was ill with malaria. I told him: "O Messenger of Allah! This is a serious illness, a difficult test!" To which he replied: "Yes, I experience what two people experience." "Then, surely, and you will receive a double reward for this?" I asked. "Yes, it is so. Allah forgives the sins of a Muslim for everything that he undergoes: for the thorn that stuck in his leg, and for greater trials. And his sins fall from him like leaves from a tree" ”(Al-Bukhari, Muslim )
“When a Muslim is among people and shows patience (be patient with the troubles that these people cause him), he is better than a Muslim who is not among people (avoids people) and does not show patience (to their actions)” (At-Tirmidhi)
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said that sometimes a month passed and the fire was not lit in the house of the Prophet ﷺ. “We survived only on dates and water.” (Bukhari)
“When Allah sends punishment to any people, it strikes with itself all those who are among (these people), and then they will be resurrected (and will be judged) according to their deeds” (Al-Bukhari)
“Do not condemn or reproach Allah for what He has ordained for you.” (Ahmad, Al-Bayhaqi)
It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever is not pleased with the decisions of Allah and at the same time believes in the predestination of Allah, let him seek another master besides Allah.”
The Prophet ﷺ said: “O people, do not wish to meet with enemies and ask Allah for well-being and deliverance, but if you have already met with them, then be patient and know that Paradise is under the shadow of your swords!” (Al-Bukhari, Muslim)
From Asma bint 'Umays, may Allah be pleased with her, it is transmitted that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If the one who befell sadness, trouble, illness or difficulty says: “Allah is my Lord, He has no partner” اللهُ رَبِّ، لاَشَرِيكَ لَهُ / Allahu Rabbi, la shara lahu / then she (prayer) will save him from all this ”(At-Tabarani)
“Indeed, it may be that a person has a high position before Allah, which he does not achieve by his deeds. And Allah does not stop testing him with what is unpleasant for him until he reaches this high position ”(Abu Ya’la, Ibn Hibban). Another version of this hadith:
“When Allah predestinates for His slave a high position that he cannot achieve by his deeds, Allah tests him with something in his body, or in his child, or in his property. After that, he grants him patience until he reaches that high position that Allah predetermined for him, Holy and Great is He ”(Ahmad, Abu Dawud)
Suleiman ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Since the prophets will be those who will be rewarded more than others, they were more than others subjected to trials and tribulations, as it came in a hadith from Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him, who asked the Prophet ﷺ: “Which of the people was most tested?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: “The Prophets, then those who were closer to them (by their iman), then those who were closer to these righteous ones. And a person is tested in accordance with the degree of his religion (faith). If he was steadfast in religion, then his trials increased. If there was a weakness in his religion, then he was tested in accordance with the degree of his religion. And they do not cease to comprehend the slave of deprivation and trouble until they leave him to walk the earth free from sins ”(At-Tirmizi, Ibn Maja, Ibn Hibban)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever Allah desires good, comprehends any of these (diseases).” (Al-Bukhari)
Imam Ahmad cites a hadith from Mahmoud ibn Labid, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “If Allah feels love for any people, then He sends trials (trouble) on him. Whoever shows patience, then patience will be for him, and whoever does not show patience, then there will be no patience for him ”(Ahmad, Al-Baykhaki)
Muslims should not desire difficulties or ask Allah for trials and illnesses in order to receive the great reward that Allah gives for patience. It is reported in an authentic hadith that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever eats and thanks Allah for it, gets the reward of the one who fasts and shows patience” (Ahmad, Ibn Majah)
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “It is preferable for me to be in prosperity and thank Allah for it than to be tested and endure” (“Fathul-Bari” 6/179)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best manifestations of faith (iman) are patience (endurance, fortitude) and generosity (indulgence)” (Ad-Daylami, Al-Bukhari)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Patience (calmly overcoming difficulties without complaint, but with hope in the Lord) is a bright light” (Ahmad, Muslim, at-Tirmidhi)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “From the material costs of good deeds, wealth does not decrease, but increases; if a person is oppressed, but shows patience (does not respond to evil with evil), then Allah will certainly exalt him even more; and if a person opens the door of petition (begging) for himself, then Allah will certainly open the door of poverty for him (until the person changes himself) ”(Ahmad, at-Tirmidhi)
Az-Zubayr bin 'Adi, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "(In due time) we came to Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, and complained to him about what we had to endure from al-Hajjaj (, to which) he said: “Be patient, for whatever time comes for you, after it such times will surely come that will turn out to be even worse (and so it will continue) until you meet your Lord. (These words) I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” (Al-Bukhari)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “A strong believer is better before Allah and more beloved by Him than a weak one. Although each of them has a blessing. Be extremely purposeful in what is good for you. Ask the Almighty for help and do not show weakness! If something has befallen you, then do not say: “If I had done so, then, verily, everything would have been different.” This "if" creates a loophole for Satan's tricks. Say instead: “Thus has the Almighty determined, having accomplished what He desired” (Muslim, hadith from Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him)
Once the Prophet ﷺ came to visit a seriously ill person and, seeing that he was completely ill, asked: “Don’t you make prayers, don’t you ask your Lord?” The patient replied: “Yes, I say: “O Allah, if You punish me in the Hereafter, then it is better to hasten the punishment for me in this world.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Holy is Allah! Truly, you cannot bear it! Why don’t you say: “O Allah, grant us good in this world and in the next world, and protect us from the torment of the Fire”?!” Then he turned to Allah with a prayer, and He healed him ”(Muslim)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not act harshly towards yourself! Indeed, those who lived before you were ruined because they showed severity towards themselves. And you can find the rest of them in cells and monasteries.” (Al-Bukhari)
It is reported that Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, turned to Allah with such a prayer: “O Allah! If You wrote me down from among the unfortunate, then erase it and write me down from among the happy!” اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنِي شَقِياًّ فَامْحُنِي وَاكْتُب ْنِي سَعِيدًا /Allahumma in kunta katabtani shaqiyan famhuni uaktubni sa‘idan/ (Ahmad)
From Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If one who is troubled or sad says:
“Allah, verily, I am Your servant, and the son of Your servant, and the son of Your servant. I am subject to You, Your decisions are binding on me, and the judgment You have pronounced on me is just. I conjure You by each of Your names, by which You called Yourself, or revealed it in Your Book, or revealed it to any of Your creations, or left it hidden from everyone except You, to make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest and the cause of the disappearance of my sadness and the cessation of my anxiety!”
Allahhumma inni 'abduk, ibnu 'abduk, ibnu amatik, nasyeti biedik, madyn fi hukmuk, 'adlun fi kaada-uk, as aluka biqulli-smin hu ualak, summita bihi nafsak, au anzaltahu fi kitabik, au 'allyamtahu ahadan min halqik , auuista' sarta bihi fi 'ilmil-gheibi 'indak, an taj'ala Qurana rabi'a kalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jala-a huzni, wa zahaba hammi,
- then Allah the Great and Almighty will surely deliver him from sorrow and replace his sorrow with joy. The people said: “O Messenger of Allah! Should we learn these words?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Of course. The one who heard them should learn them ”(Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, at-Tabarani).
From ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever sees a person suffering from any disease and says:
“Praise be to Allah, Who delivered me from that with which he struck you, and gave me preference over many of those whom He created”
Alhamdu li-Llahi llazi ‘afani mimmabtalaka bihi, wa faddalani ‘ala kasirin mimman halaqa tafdylyan, this disease will not befall him ”(At-Tirmizi, Ibn Maja)
