Paronite ring gaskets for flange connections. Paronite ring gaskets for flange connections Paronite gasket DN 125 dimensions
The PROMRESURSSERVICE catalog contains a wide range of rubber products. Here you can buy GOST 15180-86 paronite gaskets at affordable prices per kg. Paronite modifications are made in accordance with the state standard and consist of a mixture of chrysotile asbestos, rubber, various fillers and a vulcanization fluid. The products are characterized by high performance and resistance to various aggressive environments.
For the manufacture of paronite gaskets, sheet paronite is used, obtained by vulcanizing asbestos fibers mixed with solvent, rubber, mineral fillers and sulfur. The components are combined by high pressure rolling. Sheets of paronite, from which gaskets are made, can be easily cut and chopped; the thickness of the sheets can reach 6 millimeters. If necessary, materials can be impregnated with special compounds designed to combat microorganisms.
Ring-type paronite gaskets are used as seals when connecting pipeline elements. Products are produced in two versions: "A" - for flanges of type "1" and "B" - for flanged "protrusion-cavity" connections. Compared to rubber models, such gaskets withstand high temperatures better and retain their properties longer. Paronite is compatible with such media as fresh superheated and salt water, steam, inert and neutral gases, air, ammonia in liquid and gaseous forms, alcohol solutions, liquefied oxygen and nitrogen, oil products.
The main characteristics of paronite gaskets

Paronite gaskets according to GOST in stock and to order from a manufacturer in Moscow |
At a specific pressure level (usually 320 MPa), paronite reaches its yield strength. What does this mean? If the gasket has sufficient thickness, then when pressure is applied to it, all loose joints are filled with paronite, thus joints and discontinuities are sealed.
And if we are talking about paronite gaskets, which are used during the workflow with rather high technical parameters, then they must be made exclusively from the highest quality raw materials. Such gaskets are characterized by a high level of reliability, as well as the widest range of use.
Here you can order high quality paronite gaskets, which are made according to all technical requirements. Our products meet all technical specifications and can serve you for many years. Testimonials from our satisfied customers are testament to our quality. The entire gasket manufacturing process is controlled by a software and hardware system, which is programmed in such a way as to optimize the material, that is, the amount of waste during cutting of solid material is reduced to a minimum. The manufacturing method itself is called industrial plotter cutting, thanks to which it is possible to produce square or rectangular gaskets (square or rectangular in shape) with holes for dowel fasteners for facade systems of varying complexity, as well as configurations.

Sealing and sealing of flange connections directly affect the operating pressure that the pipeline can withstand during operation, as well as the reliability and safety of the system as a whole.
This article discusses gaskets for flange connections, their varieties, sizes and application features. We will study metal, paronite and rubber gasket materials and provide recommendations for their selection.
Article content
Functional purpose and necessity of application
Flange gaskets are a sealing material that is in operation in a compressed position between two flanges, which, due to the pressure of adjacent mounting plates, fills the free space between the connected ends of the pipeline.
When choosing a gasket material, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the working medium of the pipeline - its pressure, temperature, corrosive and chemical aggressiveness, as well as the configuration of the mating flange plates.
The following operational requirements are put forward for gasket products:
- elasticity;
- resistance to the working environment;
- resistance to corrosion;
- absence of thermal deformations in a given temperature range;
- hardness, which should be less than that of the material from which the flanges are made, so that the gasket does not deform the surfaces of the mounting plate during clamping (taken into account when choosing metal products).
The gasket material installed between the two flanges fills in microscopic defects present on the front walls of the mounting plates - shells, microcracks, depressions and roughness, which are the cause of a leaky connection.
During operation, the flange gasket experiences constant extrusion loads, which are created by internal pressure in the pipeline. To prevent leaks and depressurization of the joint, the pressure exerted by the bolts on the flange must create a mechanical stress sufficient to counteract the hydrostatic extrusion forces.
Normative documents
Technical standards for flange gaskets provide for a fairly extensive regulatory framework that puts forward requirements for the manufacture, selection and operation of products. The main regulations are:
- GOST No. 15180 for flat elastic products;
- GOST No. 28759.6-90 for gaskets made of non-metallic materials;
- GOST No. 28579.8-90 for steel products.
There is also a separate GOST No. 10493-81 for sealing lenses intended for operation in systems with an increased pressure of 100-200 MPa.

Varieties of gasket materials
Depending on the material of manufacture, all flange gaskets are classified into the following types:
- non-metallic (made of rubber, fluoroplastic, paronite and asbestos cardboard);
- steel (divided into subgroups according to the shape of the section - oval and octagonal);
- combined type (from heat-stabilized graphite or graphite-fluoroplast).
The most common are non-metallic gaskets made of paronite and rubber. Let's consider them in more detail.
Paronite products
Paronite seals, according to specifications, can be used for sealing flange designs 1, 5, 8 and 9 on pipelines with pressure from 1 to 20 MPa. The sizes of products vary in the range of 10-3000 mm.
Paronite gaskets are designed for sealing. Such seals are used for pipelines with various working media - water, air, steam, oil products. Paronite seals are able to withstand temperatures from -50 to +500 degrees.
There are 7 modifications of paronite, each of which is used for the manufacture of seals for different functional purposes:
- PON-A - the material withstands pressure up to 4.5 MPa, is intended for vaporous, liquid and gaseous working media, heavy and light oil products, as well as for pipelines transporting ammonia.
- PON-B - has a working pressure increased to 6.4 MPa and an expanded scope, pipelines for the transportation of nitrogen, liquid oxygen and alcohol are added to the above areas.
- PON-V - the material is used for sealing systems for pumping oil products, air, liquids (including antifreeze and antifreeze) and air-fuel compositions. The PON-V seal has a maximum pressure of 4 MPa.
- PBM is an oil-resistant paronite, designed for systems with pressure up to 10 MPa. The maximum pressure is reduced to 1.6 MPa in the case of installation of seals on the main gas pipelines, also in the gaseous medium the operating temperature range is reduced to -40 +70 degrees.
- PMB-1 is a modified material, characterized by an extended operating temperature from -5 to +250 degrees and the ability to withstand a pressure of 15 MPa. It is most often used in the manufacture of gaskets for systems transporting oil, petroleum products and EPS fluids.
- PC is acid-resistant paronite, designed for the chemical industry. The maximum pressure is 10 MPa, the temperature is 250 degrees.
- PA - paronite reinforced with steel mesh. Such seals, in addition to smooth flange connections, can be used to seal tongue and groove flanges. Not used in chemically aggressive environments, working pressure up to 10 MPa, temperature - up to 180 0 .
As an alternative to paronite, fluoroplast is often used - a material with a wide temperature range, from -260 to +260 degrees. Fluoroplast is resistant to most chemically aggressive environments - alkalis, acids and solvents, which greatly expands the scope of its use.
Rubber gaskets
For the production of flange sealing elements, several modifications of rubber are used, which can be divided into the following varieties:
- frost-resistant;
- thermally stabilized (heat resistant);
- oil and petrol resistant;
- resistant to acid and alkaline environments;
- food.
Rubber gaskets have an advantage over analogues in terms of elasticity - due to the softness of the material, it is not necessary to apply significant efforts when tightening the flanges with bolts to achieve joint tightness. Another advantage is that the rubber seals are completely impervious to both liquids and gases and vapours.
The dimensions of the seals are specified in GOST No. 15180, according to which the products are produced in diameters 10-3000 mm with a wall thickness of 3-20 mm. Rubber gaskets of large diameters (from 500 mm) can be produced in a composite configuration that requires gluing when mounting on a flange. Adhesives of the BF-2 and HKS brands are used for gluing.
Due to the deterioration of the performance properties of the material under strong compression, rubber gaskets should not deform more than 50% of their original size.
Rubber products have a key drawback in the form of a limited operating temperature, the maximum of which is +50 degrees. Seals made of heat-resistant rubber can withstand up to +140 0 . The maximum working pressure is 20 MPa.
For flange connections used under high pressure conditions, it is more rational to use a copper gasket (made of copper grade M1 or M2) or annealed aluminum sheet products. Such seals provide the maximum level of tightness at pressures up to 100 MPa.
The market is widely represented by kits consisting of seals that come with fasteners - nuts and bolts or washers. Such kits available in sizes 15-1000 mm. For large-sized flanges (dimensions 1000-3000 mm), which are rarely used even in industrial areas, sealing materials and fasteners are selected separately.
The cost of the kit varies greatly depending on the size of the flange, for example: the price of a kit with a diameter of 15 mm is 250 rubles, DN 500 mm is 23,000 rubles.
The company "OBSTROYTECH" offers you, dear customers, a wide range of sealing materials: for socket connections(linen, FUM ribbon, cable), flange connections(paronite, rubber gaskets, technical plates), gland seals, putties, sealants.
Sealing materials are used to achieve the maximum level of sealing of various types of joints between individual sections of the pipeline. The choice of gasket material depends on the temperatures and composition of the working medium in the pipes, as well as on how often preventive maintenance is performed. Sealing and gasket materials of all categories offered by our company comply with regulatory documents and certificates.
Materials for sealing socket joints:
- Tape FUM - fluoroplastic sealing material, serves to seal the joints of pipelines along the thread and is intended for those pipelines through which aggressive gases and liquids are carried in the temperature range from -60 to +200 degrees.
- Sanitary flax - used to seal socket joints, is a natural product made from thin, uniform, long-staple, combed flax. It is used in heat supply, water supply, etc.
- Kabolka (resin rope) - a linen rope impregnated with a resin composition is indispensable for caulking (stuffing) socket joints of cast-iron sewer pipes.
Materials for sealing flanged joints:
- Paronite is a sheet gasket material made from a mixture of asbestos fibers, fillers and synthetic rubber of the vulcanizing group. Sheet paronite is used for sealing flange connections under the influence of aggressive media, high temperatures and pressure. The scope of paronite is quite wide, it is used in the electric power industry and water supply. Paronite is supplied in sheets with a thickness of 0.4 to 6 mm.
- Technical plate - used for the manufacture of rubber products that serve to seal fixed joints, prevent friction between metal surfaces, to absorb single shock loads, as well as gaskets and flooring. Technical plates comply with the requirements of GOST 7338-90 (TMKShch - heat and frost acid and alkali resistant, MBS - oil and petrol resistant) or GOST 17133-83 (rubber technical plate for products that come into contact with food).
- Gland packings are an impregnated inorganic type material that can withstand high temperatures. The use of asbestos as a gasket material allows its graphitization.
