Controls in oculus rift games
Games designed for the oculus rift are usually played while seated, as a sensor is built into the helmet to determine the position of the head, which is calculated on the fact that the user is in a sitting position. Control game is coming by manipulating a joystick or a special remote control (to control your character in various virtual non-game worlds).
We need to leave a separate word about the equipment - a system that provides tactile feedback that comes with the headset. The developers have solved one of the important tasks of their system - giving users the opportunity to experience tactile sensations.

Summing up the article
Summing up, it is worth noting that the virtual reality helmet described in this article is supported by a large number of video game developers due to a number of advantages. It has a large field of view, which provides a better immersion in the game. Next is head tracking - this option allows you to not use the buttons on the keyboard to look away in the game (unlike other Oculus Rift competitors.).
Each game is perfectly realized by the helmet thanks to the use of side-by-side development, thanks to which, separate frames are assigned to each eye.

Window to another world
The first virtual reality helmets began to appear in the 60s of the last century, but due to the high cost and primitiveness of technologies, they did not receive proper development. Making a ticket to the virtual world available to a wide audience has become possible only in our time, when the cost of components has decreased, and scientific advances have made it possible to immerse gamers in a new reality without much discomfort for their well-being.
Oculus Rift is one of the first virtual reality helmets to become truly massive. The device is available for purchase even though it is still in development and testing, so Oculus Rift games are released regularly.
The popularity of the VR device can be easily explained by trying games that support Oculus Rift. The shooter takes the gamer to the cockpit of the combat mech. MMO action will give you the opportunity to feel like a pilot of an aircraft or a tank. Network thriller will allow you to look at the battles of the "red" and "blue" teams through the eyes of the fighters. In the worlds that the games for Oculus Rift DK2 demonstrate, you involuntarily begin to believe and want to return there again. Therefore, the likelihood that virtual reality will become the leader of the gaming industry in the near future is very high.

It's an amazing thing, and this month it just got even cooler. On December 6, 2016, the long-awaited release of Oculus Touch took place, and with it came new fantastic games. Because of this, we felt it was urgent to update our list of the best Rift games to include all the new offerings.
The list includes 9 of the best games, which in our opinion are by far the best games that the Rift has to offer in the post-Touch era. But before we get started, there are a few caveats you need to know. The list does not include games like Lucky's Tale and EVE: Valkyrie, both of which are great games but come with most headsets. We also didn't include the free, simplified versions of Farlands, First Contact, or Oculus Dreamdeck.
The games in this list are in no particular order, as we encourage you to try each one. Let's start!
Windlands
Windlands is a very cool game. No, let's try again. Windlands is amazing. Still don't believe? Okay, one more try. Windlands is so good that if there weren't people in my life who would tell me: "Hey dude, we haven't seen you in a hundred years" or "You know you need to wash your clothes sometimes?" I probably wouldn't stop playing it at all.
Windlands, developed by Psytec Games, is a game that will give you everything you expect from games. Addictive gameplay? There is. Beautiful visuals? Yes. Addictive atmosphere? Oh yeah. And to top it all off, Windlands now comes with a free update for Touch, turning an already mesmerizing, eye-driven gameplay into a hands-on game. Here you can definitely feel like Spider-Man.
What really makes Windlands so great, besides being an amazing video game, is that it's an amazing VR game. It was created specifically for VR. A game where you fly through the air in first person like Spider-Man, solve the mysteries of antiquity, all this would be fun in 2D, but in VR on the Rift it becomes something completely different: it becomes legendary.
Note: This game is also available on HTC Vive, but I prefer to play it on the Rift. You will have to do a lot fast movements head in this game, so Rift's lighter headset and ergonomic design will make your game experience much more enjoyable. Touch controllers also seem to be more comfortable.
DiRT Rally
DiRT Rally has officially pushed Project Cars off this list as the number 1 racing game for the OCulus Rift helmet. Don't get me wrong, Project Cars is a beautiful game with an amazingly immersive experience, but DiRT replaces it with bold gameplay that perfectly aligns with the unique advantages of a VR headset.
The nerve-wracking turns and sequential decision-making that take place in DiRT Rally outside of racing create a completely alive sense of reality. Every sharp turn seen at the last second or the terrifying turnaround is felt inside the helmet. Each victory becomes exciting, long-awaited and difficult to achieve. Add this steering wheel to everything, and you will have an excellent option for escaping from your children forever.
And always remember: don't cut.
The Climb
If you've read about The Climb in magazines, be sure that the text is completely unable to convey the atmosphere of the game to you. Suggestions like "You look around to place your dangling hands on a rock and then grab the rails while holding the buttons" won't get your heart pumping like The Climb can.
The original gamepad-controlled layout, despite some quibbles, immerses you in incredible ways in the world of rock climbing with just 2 buttons. I held on to those triggers tighter than Rose held on to that floating door in the Titanic, which, by the way, could definitely fit 2 people.
Now The Climb also has a free update for Oculus Touch, making zooming facades more exciting and catchy than ever. Trust me, if you fall while climbing, you will definitely remember it. You feel absolutely at one with nature in this game, which seems strange for a video game, but it's really wonderful. So now you can tell your mom that you don't have to go out anymore. You have The Climb.
The Unspoken
Before The Unspoken, we were very skeptical about online multiplayer for Oculus Rift. After The Unspoken, all doubts disappeared: they definitely rule.
The Unspoken is the third game in the Insomniac trilogy that came out for the Rift this year. The game immerses you in the dark streets of Chicago, where you, in a Chuck Taylor scarf and trench coat, try on the image of a modern-day sorcerer who is trying to unravel the tangle of dark conspiracies and intrigues. Although the game's story jumps from one point in time to the next, The Unspoken is fully multiplayer. online game(with the exception of a few, limited, offline modes for practice).
You'll spend your time choosing between three unique classes, adjusting the power of spells and artifacts, and then perfecting your technique on the battlefield. The Unspoken is addictive and fun game, with a fantastic use case for the new Touch controllers. Whether you're throwing a fireball or making a police car levitate, it all feels natural and exhilarating on the new Oculus platform.
The organization of fights takes place within seconds, not minutes, which was the main concern before the launch of the game. Dive in, learn magic and who knows, maybe you will become the greatest VR magician in the world.
Arizona Sunshine
If you've ever sat down with friends and played How Would We Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?, then Arizona Sunshine is the must-play for you. Developers from Vertigo Games will take you directly to the sun-bleached deserts of Arizona. The landscapes would be very picturesque if the legions of the dead did not roam through them.
Armed with only a pair of pistols, you set out to find food, ammo and shelter through a zombie-infested desert in search of shelter from their endless hordes. The gameplay of Arizona Sunshine is intuitive, main character amazingly voiced, and the story will make you feel the desperation that comes with the end of the world.
The game has different levels of difficulty, where in order to defeat the zombies they need to deal different damage, while not spending all the ammunition. These levels culminate in "Apocalyptic Mode", which is almost impossible to complete as you'll have to think through every shot. There is also an online mode that you can play with your friends, and thanks to the shooting and reloading mechanics, you will definitely be involved in the process of your own survival.
In a market filled with zombie shooters, Arizona Sunshine is definitely ahead of the curve.
Obduction
Obduction is a game that will bring out the fear in you that you didn't know about before, the fear of windows. Developed by Cyan, Inc. - the creators of the legendary game Myst - this game exalts exploration and storytelling to new heights for the entire VR industry.
In Obduction, you explore a ghost town that appears to be plucked straight out of the old west. The only clue? You are on an alien planet and you have no chance of getting home. Here you go on a long journey of searching, solving mysteries and intriguing puzzles.
Obduction is a game for thinking. If you want to blow things up or shoot huge guns, then this game is not for you. But if you're looking for adventure, you've come to the right place. But remember, the world is not what it seems.
Dead and Buried
Let's move from the ghost town to the real wild west. Dead and Buried, the first game entirely developed by Oculus Studios, is an online multiplayer shooter with one twist: you're already dead here. You were brought back to life by a mysterious ghost to, as he puts it, "take out a couple of bad guys...or a couple of good ones."
D&B is rich in game modes, where you can organize team shootouts or cop-and-robber heists. Big choice weapons and strategies in each mode, so gather your friends and set off to conquer the phantom west with your brains, muscles, and kilos of hot lead.
Edge of Nowhere
Insomniac is one of the most prolific gaming studios today. They own such hits as Ratchet & Clank, Spyro and Sunset Overdrive. Edge of Nowhere was Insomniac's first foray into VR and is one of the few Rift games ever developed by an official AAA developer.
Edge of Nowhere is a 3rd person psychological thriller that takes you not only to the edge of the Arctic, but also to the edge of your common sense. A little bit of crypto and an unforgettable VR experience awaits you, this is not to be missed.
Damaged Core
In Damaged Core, you play as an artificial intelligence whose job it is to take over enemy robots and use their unique weapons and skills to defeat evil and save the human race. In my opinion, this is almost a masterpiece. Even though you need a gamepad to play, the jumping mechanic creates a deeper sense of freedom and immersion than most indoor games I've tried.
Combine all of this with incredible visuals, a captivating story, and interesting characters, and you have one of the most complete and impressive VR games on this or any other platform.
Now stop reading and run to play!
When purchasing an Oculus Rift now, you should think in advance how and what you will play. We know the most anticipated games for the Rift in the near future, but in addition, Oculus introduced about 30 new titles at the recent E3 2016 exhibition.
The world of indie games has taken over Oculus, but big and famous headlines are starting to take their share of the VR market fast. When you receive your headset, the first thing you want to do is try out these games - and you can access them through the standard Oculus Home app or by downloading games through the VR section of Steam.
Upcoming games for Oculus Rift
Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope
Initially, Oculus planned to buy the development of the VR game in order to make it exclusive to their platform, but the developers from Croteam refused this deal. The product will be released this year and will still support the Rift, albeit not as an exclusive. The authors promise that the game will be as fun and cruel as possible, as it offers to fight hordes of alien monsters alone.
Wilson's Heart
One of those games that definitely won't come out until early 2017. This is a stylish psychological thriller graphic novel that features Oculus Touch controls and professional voice acting for all characters by actors such as Alfred Molina, Rosario Dawson and more. The project is developed by Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios. According to the plot of the VR game, you play the role of a patient named Robert Wilson, whose heart has been replaced with a mysterious device.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
The developers of the VR game decided to make it cross-platform, so Star Trek will be released for all three major VR headsets, including Oculus. Announced at the recent E3, the game will focus on four-player co-op, whose main task will be to properly manage and control resources on the Federation spaceship. Developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, this game promises to provide quite interesting gameplay and practically perfect experience from the use of virtual reality. With the release of PlayStation VR this fall, the game is likely to release in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
superhot VR
Superhot was a web game for a while, but now it's time for the Oculus version. This bright first-person shooter stands out among others with an original way of managing time: when it moves, the whole environment moves, as soon as you stop, everything freezes. Simply put, the player needs to correctly allocate the available time and plan his actions, like in no other fps game.
Rockband VR
Oculus and Harmonix have announced Rockband VR for Rift with the ability to control Oculus Touch controllers that can track your RB guitars. Not much is known about the game, but according to the available information, the developers from Luckey have been working on this project for quite some time, giving reason to hope that we will have more to come. a large number of social VR games from Luckey.
Bullet Train
The shooter is one of the games specially designed for Oculus Rift and can be used with the Oculus Touch controller. The product will allow you to accurately and realistically feel the sensations of shooting at enemies. In addition, the teleportation and time manipulation capabilities that open up during the VR game are announced, which make Bullet Train a hell of an ambitious game. The first tech demo demonstrating the capabilities of Unreal Engine 4 was shown back in September, and during this time the developers have undoubtedly made significant progress.
World War Toons
This 3D cartoon styled virtual reality game takes you to the battlefield of the 20th century. Everything from the music and background details to the facial expressions of the characters is made funny and hilarious, but at the same time, addictive gameplay with interesting mechanics will be preserved. At first, the game was positioned as a PlayStation VR exclusive, but then Reload announced that WWT would also be released on PC with Oculus support. Plus, the game will be free.
VR Sports Challenge
Each sport is slightly different from the other. This statement is true for hockey, football, baseball and basketball in virtual reality. Early demos of the VR game looked promising, but after what Sanzaru Games showed at E3 2016, there's no doubt that the developers will be able to port the gaming experience from Wii Sports to the Oculus Rift and it will be incredibly cool.
The Witness
Jonathan Blow is a brilliant developer who gave the world the breakthrough platformer Braid. His new game, The Witness, remains true to the concept that in order to succeed, the player must think as outside the box as possible. The events of the game take place on a mysterious desert island, and in order to go all the way to the end, you will have to complete 440 different puzzles.
EVE: Valkyrie Founder's Pack
You will most likely play EVE: Valkyrie one way or another, because this game comes bundled with most VR headsets. Valkyrie had a long development cycle, so the final product must be of very high quality and will become a landmark for the Oculus Rift game.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
This game is the perfect example of how easy and brilliant it is to play with friends with just one headset. One of the players puts on his goggles and finds himself locked in a virtual room with a bomb that slowly but surely counts down. While everyone else - the experts - has to give him instructions on how to defuse the bomb. In addition, there is always another bomb hidden in the room.
The Climb
Robinson: The Journey from the famous studio Crytek was announced for PlayStation VR, but the developers changed the balance in it and called The game Climb, at the same time leaving only Oculus Rift in the list of target platforms.
Chronos
One of the best RPG for virtual reality glasses from Oculus. The game is an excellent choice for fans of fantasy and historical settings. Chronos has a very unusual mechanic: each time you die, your age and skills "grow up" by one year.
Adrift
Adrift represents space adventure from the first person. In it, you find yourself on a destroyed space station, without any information about what happened here. The game will be released before the end of this year on PlayStation VR and Xbox One, and will be available in both VR and regular versions.
Windlands
A cross between Psychonauts, Mirror's Edge and Just Cause 2, Widlands will give you the opportunity to transform into the role of some kind of superhero who can make giant jumps and move between trees through vines like Tarzan. For Oculus Rift, the game is already available on the Oculus Home app and Steam VR section.
Edge of Nowhere
This intense game from Insomniac Games has a third-person perspective and heavy atmosphere. She will tell the story of a man at the Arctic Station who is rescuing a missing expedition. Overall, the game feels more like a classic console adventure in the Uncharted vein, but in VR it will look just as exciting.
Elite: Dangerous
Just like EVE, this game has already been released. But developers continue to improve it. In addition, it is one of the most expensive and well-known examples of Oculus Home VR games, and is a must-see for space sim fans. The project is also available on HTC Vive.
P.OL.L.E.N
This is a very unusual medial first-person sci-fi VR game about human exploration of deep space. The player will be an employee of the space station built by the US and Russia on the moon of Titan. In this alternate future, Kennedy has not been assassinated and all countries are working together. P.O.L.L.E.N broke all the records on Steam Greenlight and is now available for Rift, and may soon support HTC Vive.
Lucky's Tale
There are relatively few family-friendly games for the Rift, but Lucky is one of them. From the outside, it's a 3D platformer in the style of Mario 64: the game is filled with jumps, and the environment is dominated by bright, cheerful colors.
Project CARS
Slightly Mad Studios' flagship racing game boasts insanely beautiful graphics and Oculus Rift support. If you're looking for a hyper-realistic virtual driving experience, Project CARS is your choice.
Indie - VR games
NaissanceE
One of the most interesting games in the first-person puzzle genre over the past few years. NaissanceE is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. She tells the story of Lucy, who found herself in a huge mysterious complex. Last September, the game got support for the Oculus Rift, so you can start to marvel at the sheer size of the underground cities right now.
Pixel Rift/Ripped
Created by indie developer Ana Ribeiro as a declaration of love for her favorite console, Pixel Ripped, like so many other VR games, takes you into a frighteningly realistic virtual space to quickly teach you its rules and make you follow them. Specifically, this project stands out for its extremely unusual arrangement of complex branched levels, in which even a fairly experienced player can get confused.
Surgeon Simulator
The game from Bossa Studios has passed into the status of a legend thanks to the protagonist in the face of the hapless surgeon Nigel Burke, who operates on his unfortunate patient Bob. During the game, Nigel's actions look very stupid and funny when you are covered in blood due to inexperience, trying to cure the unfortunate Bob. In September, Bossa announced Surgeon Simulator with Oculus Touch support.
Vanguard V
This game is a third-person shooter, but it differs in that the action here takes place either in the stratosphere or in the depths of the ocean. Vanguard V is a charming and colorful game that uses head tracking technologies in a way that will make you feel like you are part of what is happening.
laser face
Resembling a 3D version of the classic Atari game Asteroids, Laserface puts you in the shoes of a hero who can shoot laser beams from his eyes. Just like in Vanguard V, Laserface uses the technology of aiming with the help of turning and tilting the head. The game has a lot of potential.
