Why is the electric ignition of the gas stove constantly working. Gas stove ignition button not working
Scheme of a homemade ignition transformer, a source of sparks for the burner and more. (10+)
High-voltage ignition transformer, ignition block, do-it-yourself source of sparks
The most important: The scheme gives excellent spark suitable for igniter burners. It can be used to ignite household gas on the stove, ignite gas and diesel burners, ignite a blowtorch. Be attentive and careful. The device is powered by mains voltage. For its assembly and adjustment, you must have a qualification that allows you to work with mains voltage. The product must be assembled in such a way that users who do not have special qualifications and knowledge will not be exposed to electric shocks. To do this, all electrically conductive elements that are under mains voltage or have a galvanic connection with the network must be reliably insulated. An isolation transformer must provide reliable isolation of one winding from another. Using an ignition transformer instead of a regular one with an industrial burner, you void the manufacturer's warranty. In addition, make sure that the burner control is supplying mains voltage to the ignition transformer and not some other signal. |
The first time I assembled this circuit, I was pushed by a malfunction of the high-voltage ignition transformer in a diesel burner. It was possible to purchase purchased, but I wanted to experiment. Subsequently, I began to use this circuit everywhere for: ignition of a manual gas burner, ignition of the flame of an old gas stove(the ignition also burned out), igniting a home-made burner using used oil, obtaining high voltage for experiments, etc. The device turned out to be very successful, simple and reliable.

Unfortunately, errors occur periodically in articles, they are corrected, articles are supplemented, developed, new ones are being prepared.
Modern gas stoves are equipped with the function of automatic ignition of the flame from a spark. Now, to turn on the desired burner, no matches need to be lit - just press the button.
The presence of this function not only facilitates the process of using the stove, but also makes it safer. However, any mechanism has its own resource, having exhausted which, it begins to fail. Ignition button- is no exception, besides, she has to work under constant negative impact external factors - water ingress, grease splashes, heat etc.
As a result, at first the burner does not light up the first time, but over time it stops working altogether.
What to do if the gas stove ignition button is broken?
The easiest option is to try to fix the problem yourself. But for this you need to understand how the auto-ignition mechanism works. And it consists of four main elements: the button itself, a high-voltage block, conductors and a candle.
In this case, there are two types of electric ignition:
- automatic - when the piezoelectric elements start to work in a constant mode when the switch on the control panel is turned (the spark jumps at a frequency of 50 Hz);
- manual - when, when a special button on the control panel is pressed, the capacitor is charged, and when released, the spark gap produces a single spark that ignites the blue fuel.
The electric ignition system is powered by 220 volt AC and is very sensitive to voltage fluctuations, which happen quite often.
You can also highlight the main reasons why the auto-ignition system does not work.
- No spark on the electrodes;
- Contamination of the entire system or candle with grease and / or water;
- The presence of damage to the insulation of the candle;
- Transformer failure (spark generation unit burned out);
- Oxidation of button contacts;
- Soot formed on the contacts as a result short circuit.
Often, interruptions occur after washing the hob, when moisture gets on the start-up system.
In this case, to fix the problem, it is enough to dry the contacts and the candle itself. If cleaning and drying did not work, you will have to disassemble the system for a more detailed diagnosis and further repair of the button.
How to fix the gas stove electric ignition button - step by step instructions
The principle of operation for all gas stoves is the same, whether it be the Slovenian brand Gorenje or the Belarusian Hephaestus popular in the CIS countries. The ignition systems are also identical with the exception of minor differences.
Consider the process repair/replacement of electric ignition button on the example of the popular plate Hephaestus.
To do the job, you will need the following tools:
- crosshead screwdriver;
- flat screwdriver;
- new button for Hephaestus plate.
The main reason for the malfunction of the electric ignition button
Work order:
- Disconnect the cord from the electrical network;
- Remove the cooktop cover. To do this, unscrew all the screws (usually 2 of them), and remove the gas burners;
- Take out the ignition button. In many models, it is located in the same block as the button for turning on the lighting in the oven, so you have to remove the entire block. To remove the Hephaestus gas stove ignition button, you need to disconnect the connectors from both buttons, press the clips with a flat screwdriver and remove the button from the outside of the control panel;
- We install a new electric ignition button;
- We connect the connectors (it is impossible to confuse them, because 2 contacts go to the lighting button, and 3 to the ignition button);
- Close the lid, install gas burners;
- Plug the power cord into an outlet.
VIDEO REVIEW
Very often, the automatic ignition of the burners does not work due to contamination. In order for the gas stove to work smoothly, it is necessary to regularly carry out preventive cleaning of the electric ignition mechanism.
How does the electric ignition of a gas stove work.The inclusion is carried out by acting on the electric ignition button (stove handle). Due to the circuit closure, the ignition unit in the high-voltage coil windings induces high-voltage pulses, supplying them to the spark plug through insulated wires, a discharge occurs.
The gas burner is ignited by an electrical spark produced by a white ceramic spark plug that is built into each burner. A spark is applied immediately to all burners, but the one on which gas is present is ignited. In new models of stoves, the buttons are located under the handle.
The modern electric ignition circuit works if the plug of the stove cable is plugged into the outlet. The electric ignition is powered by 220V AC voltage, and "does not like" lowering. After a short circuit or a decrease in the current in the network, the electric ignition may spontaneously constantly click, which is a breakdown.
Signs of a faulty electric stove ignition
- Electric ignition does not work when pressing the handle;
- Electric ignition clicks non-stop;
- Continues to work after releasing the handle;
- Sparks constantly even when the burner is off;
- The burner of the gas stove does not ignite badly or at all;
- Knocks out the machine in the shield.
How to fix electric ignition yourself
Troubleshooting a gas stove should begin with a search for causes. It’s not worth starting repairs without theoretical knowledge, it’s better to entrust the company’s masters "GazService".
1. Light the failed burner by hand using matches. The fire should be consistently blue, evenly distributed over the entire circumference. A yellow or sluggish flame is a sign of improper combustion of the gas.
Gas burns on one side of the burner - indicates an uneven design or deformation of the divider. Violation of the proportions of the combustible mixture is one of the reasons. In this case, the burner will not ignite from the spark. Cleaning the nozzle and reinstalling the splitter can fix the breakdown.
2. The electrodes and switches are connected in parallel. All spark electrodes are powered by the ignition unit, but the unit is turned on by different buttons. If pressing the knob does not ignite the burner and the ignition does not spark, and the gas cock is open: try to ignite by pressing the next knob without releasing the first one. Thus, we confirm the breakdown of the electric ignition switch.
3. The ignition crackles continuously, due to the closing of the contacts of one of the switches. Water, grease, oxidation and bending of the contacts are the causes of this failure. Cleaning, drying, preventive maintenance can eliminate the malfunction and return work to the right track. When cleaning switches, do not forget that they operate at 220 volts. Follow the safety precautions if you are going to repair the hob.
