How to independently tune in to satellite television ntv. The story about the installation of NTV Plus - reality
Most people who use satellite TV have resorted to the services of different companies (for example, NTV +) or individuals involved in installation, not knowing that the installation itself is not such a "tricky" thing as the "experts" say about it.
In order to save money and time (who needs it, of course), we advise you to purchase equipment and install the antenna yourself according to the scheme shown below...
Select a location for the antenna. The main criterion is a free view in a southerly direction, since the satellite is located approximately in the south for the European territory former USSR. For Moscow, this direction corresponds with great accuracy to the direction of the sun at 13:00 in the afternoon in winter time. Free vision means that there are no foreign objects on the mental line connecting the antenna and the satellite - for example, buildings or trees.
Important, but optional criteria are the proximity to the installation site of the TV and the availability of the antenna for the owner at the same time as inaccessibility to outsiders. The more accessible the installation site, the easier it is to install and tune the antenna. If at the same time it is inaccessible to outsiders, then attackers will not be able to disable it. If the TV is located near the antenna, it will be easier to lay the cable connecting them.
The best place for installation is a balcony or loggia with a free view to the south. However, installation is possible on a wall near, on the roof, on a blank section of the wall.
1. Assemble the antenna according to the assembly instructions. Fix the converter in the holder and attach the cable to it. Attach the antenna support to the wall and hang the antenna. In the case of tuning the antenna to the satellite, the converter can be mounted in the holder in an arbitrary way, but it is better to place it with the connector down - so that water does not get inside the converter. Special care must be taken with the antenna mirror, since the slightest deformation of it can lead to sharp drop received signal quality.
2. Approximately set the elevation angle and azimuth of the antenna in accordance with the table. Azimuth can be set using a compass. It is more difficult to accurately set the elevation angle, since the tilt angle of the offset antenna depends on its design, and the NTV-Plus project uses antennas from different manufacturers. For example, the exact vertical position of the antenna of the Ulyanovsk plant "Supral" corresponds to an elevation angle of 26.5 degrees. Therefore, in Moscow, this antenna can be installed vertically, in Volgograd - slightly tilted back, in St. Petersburg - slightly tilted forward (at the same time, it will look, as it were, "at the ground"). For antennas from other manufacturers, the situation may be somewhat different.
3. Connect the receiver and TV - according to the instructions for the receiver. All equipment under the NTV-Plus project is supplied with detailed operating instructions in Russian. If the connection is made correctly, then the characteristic "converter noise" will appear on the screen. On the newest models of foreign TVs, this picture is blocked by a "blue screen", which occurs when the signal level at the TV input is insufficient. And the first time you turn it on, it will most likely be completely absent. Tuning is best done on "open" (FTA) channels, for example, RTR, TNT, NTV.
Ways:
a). Capture the image on the screen and achieve its best quality. This is done by slightly shifting the antenna in the horizontal and vertical directions from the initial installation. At the same time, you need to see the picture on the TV screen at the same time in order to "detect" the satellite signal, which will appear in the form of a highly distorted television picture.
This is a coded TV signal. Approximately, one can imagine it as if all the events on the screen would take place behind a thick frosted glass. The sound is also distorted by encoding. Then you need to wait a few minutes until the decoder decodes the signal, and fine-tune the TV image, fix the antenna. Enjoy watching.
b). This option is needed if you do not have the possibility of "fine" tuning in the satellite receiver. To do this, without entering the menu, you need to select an open channel and by turning the plate to make adjustments. This method is the longest, but it is POSSIBLE to set it up, AND IT IS REPEATEDLY CHECKED BY ME!
If all your attempts at tuning were in vain, then you did not have the patience or you were not created for mechanics and technology in general, which means that you need to call a "specialist".

The choice of the antenna installation site is determined by the following requirements:
Ensuring direct visibility to the Eutelsat W4 satellite (36 east)
- reliability of the mechanical fastening of the antenna.
When choosing an antenna installation site, it is not recommended to place it near powerful sources of radio interference (radio stations, radars, antenna systems of mobile communication base stations). Due to significant losses of the satellite signal in various (including transparent to visible light) materials, the antenna should not be placed inside a glazed balcony or loggia. A polyethylene film with a thickness of 70 - 200 microns does not significantly affect the transmission of a satellite radio signal.
To make sure that there are no interfering objects (buildings, trees, etc.) in the direction of the satellite, you need to determine the angular coordinates of the satellite: azimuth (the angle in the horizontal plane between the direction to the true North and the direction to the satellite) and the satellite elevation angle (the angle in vertical plane between the horizontal direction and the direction to the satellite). Table 1 shows the data on the angular coordinates of the Eutelsat W4 satellite (36 east longitude) calculated for some Russian cities. Using the given values, it is possible to determine with sufficient accuracy the directions to the satellite for other settlements located at distances of 100-150 km from these cities. The direction to true North is preferably determined using geographical map this locality. Errors in determining the direction to the true North at the antenna installation point using a magnetic compass can be significant due to local distortions magnetic field Earth associated with the presence of magnetic iron ore anomalies and metal structures.
If, when determining the installation site, there were doubts about the possibility of providing a direct line of sight to the satellite, associated with the presence of closely spaced interfering objects, more accurate measurements of the elevation angle and azimuth of the satellite may be required. In this case, it makes sense to choose another place to install the antenna, where the requirement of direct visibility to the satellite is met with large tolerances in determining the calculated angles.
The chosen place of installation of the antenna should provide for the reliability of mounting the antenna and its elements. To prevent mechanical and corrosion damage to the antenna structure elements, it is not recommended to install the antenna in places where intense water, snow and ice can get on it (under eaves of sloping roofs and spillways).
Mounting and setting up the antenna
The design of the antenna system and its fastening device (support) must have the necessary mechanical strength to ensure resistance to wind loads and its safe operation.
Installation of the receiving antenna (support) mounting device on the selected surface is carried out taking into account the features of the installation site and the design of the antenna used. The antenna is mounted in accordance with the assembly instructions attached to it. The converter, designed to convert the high-frequency signal received by the antenna, is installed on the mounts provided for by the antenna design. The receiver horn of the converter should be facing the antenna surface.
The receiving antenna system is connected to the digital receiver using an RF cable equipped with F-type connectors. A cable is used that has a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms and has low level attenuation in the frequency range 950 - 2000 MHz. One end of the cable is connected to the F-connector on the converter, the other end is connected to the "LBN Input" input. satellite receiver. It is necessary to exclude the possibility of moisture getting inside the cable from the side of connection to the antenna to prevent its deterioration. specifications. Connecting the radio frequency cable to the converter should be done after disconnecting the digital receiver from the power supply. A fully assembled antenna is mounted on a mounting device (support), mounted and securely fixed in a selected location (outer wall of a balcony or loggia, house wall, roof or elements or structures on it, a specially prepared area on the ground).
Brief instructions for installing the antenna
Tricolor TV broadcasting company broadcasts from satelliteEUTELSATW4

Antenna installation and tuning steps
1. Determining the location of the antenna
The main criterion for choosing an installation site is a free view in the direction of the satellite, which you can roughly determine from the table in section 3 of this manual. A free view is understood as the fact that there are no foreign objects on the imaginary line connecting the antenna and the satellite: buildings, trees, etc.
The proximity of the antenna to the location of the TV and accessibility for the owner will simplify the process of installing and configuring it.
The antenna can be installed on the outside of the balcony or loggia, on the wall near the window or on the roof of the house.
The antenna is not recommended to be installed inside a balcony or loggia with glazing, in places where intense water, snow, ice can hit the antenna: under the slopes of a sloping roof, weirs, etc.
2. Antenna installation.
1. Assemble the antenna according to the instruction manual.
2. Attach the antenna bracket to the wall. Fasteners (anchor bolts, studs, nuts, screws, etc.) are selected depending on the wind load and the material of the wall on which the antenna is mounted.
3. Install the converter in the holder with the connector down so that atmospheric precipitation does not get inside the converter.
4.Connect the cable to the converter with F- connector*.
5. Attach the cable to the bow of the converter holder with plastic ties or electrical tape.
6. Seal the F-connector along the entire length with 2 layers
tape and evenly
apply a layer of silicone sealant to the insulating tape.
7. Install the antenna on the bracket. Tighten the adjusting nuts so that you can move the antenna with some effort in the vertical and horizontal planes.
8. Secure the cable to the antenna bracket with plastic ties or electrical tape. Leave a supply of cable 1 m long near the antenna, also fixing it on the bracket.
"The order of installation of standard satellite television F-connectors
1. Strip the top insulation of the cable by 15 mm without damaging the braided shield.
2. Position the braided shield along the cable.
3. Carefully position the foil along the braided shield.
4. Remove 10 mm of internal insulation.
5. Screw the connector up to the stop.
6. "Bite off" the center conductor so that it does not protrude beyond the connector by more than 2 mm.
Antenna Tuning (55cm or 60cm)
1. Approximately set the azimuth and elevation of the antenna, focusing on the data for the nearest city to you, given in the table. Azimuth can be set using a compass. It is more difficult to accurately determine the elevation angle, since the tilt angle of the offset antenna depends on its design, and the Tricolor TV project uses antennas from several manufacturers. For example, the exact vertical position of the antenna of the Ulyanovsk plant "Supral" corresponds to an elevation angle of 26.5 °. Therefore, in Moscow this antenna can be installed vertically, in Volgograd it can be tilted back a little, and in St. Petersburg it can be tilted forward a little. For antennas from other manufacturers, this situation may be different.
2. In accordance with the operating instructions for the digital terminal, connect the cable coming from the converter to it. cutting F- make the connector according to the method given above.
3. Connect the digital terminal to the TV according to the instruction manual of the terminal and turn it on.
4. The digital terminal is pre-programmed for Tricolor TV channels.
5. Slowly moving the antenna mirror in the vertical and / or horizontal planes around the proposed satellite location, achieve the appearance of a television picture on your TV screen.6. Activate the "Received signal level" item in the menu of your terminal. Achieve maximum received signal strength by smoothly moving the antenna mirror in a vertical
and/or horizontal planes. Keep in mind that the signal strength depends on weather conditions. In conditions of dense clouds, heavy rain or snowfall, the signal level may decrease until the image disappears. Snow sticking to the antenna also significantly worsens the reception conditions.
7. Tighten the adjusting nuts while monitoring the level of the received signal.

ATTENTION!
Installation satellite dish requires extreme caution.
We are not responsible for non-compliance
safety regulations in the production of work
according to this instruction.
In the previous issue, we have already published recommendations for installing a set of NTV-Plus satellite television equipment. This version of the recommendations for orienting the antenna to the Gals satellite for receiving NTV-Plus programs is given taking into account the comments received by the editors from experts, and taking into account the appearance on sale of equipment licensed under this project during this time.
Fig.1.
Let us briefly recall that the Gals satellites are located at the position of 36 degrees east longitude. They broadcast a package of four paid programs: domestic and foreign films, sports and music. The set of NTV-Plus equipment consists of a receiver, a decoder, an offset antenna with a characteristic size of 60 - 90 cm, a Gals converter and a set of cables. The set with the NTV-1000 receiver is called NTV-1, with the NTV-200 or NTV-2000 receiver - the NTV-2 set, with the NTV-3000 receiver - the NTV-3 set. The NTV-200 differs from the NTV-2000 only in the absence of its own sound level control. This does not mean at all that you (the owner of the NTV-200 receiver) will not be able to adjust the sound level. You just need to use the appropriate adjustment on the TV.
You need to start the installation by choosing a place for the antenna (see Fig. 1). The selection criteria are as follows: free view to the south, the minimum distance from the antenna to the TV (maximum cable length) is 70 - 100 meters, if possible, free access to the antenna for you and as difficult as possible for outsiders. It is best to place the antenna next to a window or on a balcony, if the Gals satellites are "seen" from this point. The farther the antenna is from the TV, the better and more expensive cable you will need. For longer distances, you may need intermediate signal amplifiers.

Fig.2.
It is also useful to think about grounding the antenna. If your antenna is not grounded, this can lead to failure of the converter due to static electricity or burnout of the entire high-frequency input path of your installation due to a lightning strike. Both occur very rarely, but the likelihood of such accidents still exists.
In the cities of Kharkov, Orel, Kaluga, Tver, the direction to "Hals" is straight south. In Moscow, the satellite is shifted by several degrees to the west (see Fig. 2), and in St. Petersburg and Kyiv - by several degrees to the east. For reference, a table with azimuths and elevation angles of the Gals satellites for a number of large cities of the former USSR is provided (see Table 1). It can be said with a high degree of accuracy that in Moscow the direction to the Gals satellites corresponds to the direction to the sun at 1 pm winter time.
Fig.3.
With some caution, you need to treat information on the elevation angles (elevation above the horizon) of the Gals satellites. The fact is that this angle determines the direction of the axis of the direct-focus parabolic antenna to the satellite, and offset antennas are mainly used in sets for NTV-Plus. The angle of its inclination to the horizon depends not only on the geographic latitude, but also on the design of the antenna itself (Fig. 3). The NTV-Plus sets use antennas from several manufacturers with different designs. Therefore, it is better to find out about the angle of inclination of your antenna in your region from the company where you purchased this antenna. It can be considered very approximately that the position of the offset antenna on the European territory of the former USSR should be close to vertical.
In the previous article, we provided an assembly drawing of a Hungarian-made antenna with a diameter of 60 cm. In addition, the project uses antennas with a diameter of 60, 110 and 130 cm manufactured by the Ulyanovsk plant "Supral", antennas with a diameter of 60 cm manufactured by the British company Strong and antennas with a diameter of 90 cm manufactured by General Satellite from St. Petersburg.
Fig.4.
We present assembly drawings of the 60-cm Supral antenna (Fig. 4, 5), which has a design very similar to that of the Hungarian antenna. If you purchased such an antenna, then for it the Supral company gives the following recommendations for installing it at a certain elevation angle. When the angle g zero(see Fig. 5), then the direction of the antenna corresponds to an elevation angle of 26.5 degrees. Accordingly, if in your region the Gals satellites are higher above the horizon, then the antenna must be tilted back (as shown in the figure), and if lower, then the antenna must be tilted forward by the corresponding number of degrees.
The second assembly drawing shows a 90 cm antenna (see Fig. 6) manufactured by General Satellite. Strong's 60cm antennas are very similar in design. Therefore, we do not present a drawing of this antenna here.
Under this project, supplies of antennas from other manufacturers are also expected. As they go on sale, we will acquaint our readers with their design and assembly recommendations.
Fig.5.
Next, the antenna must be rigidly assembled according to the instructions and fixed in the place chosen for installation (wall, balcony, pipe on the roof). It should be taken into account that when tuning, the antenna will have to be rotated slightly in the vertical and horizontal plane, and the surrounding objects (the wall of the house, the railing of the balcony) should not interfere with this movement.
It is better to place the converter in the holder with the connector down to reduce the possibility of water penetration into the converter.
It is necessary to supply power to the antenna installation site, turn on the TV and receiver. If you place the antenna by the window or on the balcony, then everything is at hand, if the antenna is located on the roof, then you need to run an extension cord there and turn on the TV and receiver. This is necessary because during the antenna tuning process you will need to "catch" the image on the TV screen and see the screen well from the antenna location.
The converter is connected with a high-frequency cable to the IF INPUT connector on the rear panel of the receiver. Satellite high-frequency connectors are screwed with a narrow end onto a specially stripped and prepared cable, and with a wide end onto the corresponding threaded connector on the converter and receiver. The central core of the cable is also the central conductor in the connector. If you have never done this, then ask the seller to show how the satellite high-frequency connector is installed on the end of the coaxial cable. This is very simple and is done without a soldering iron, using an ordinary knife.
Fig.6.
The NTV-200 (NTV-2000) receiver (see Fig. 7) can be connected to the TV in several ways. In the simplest case, the antenna output of the TV is connected to the TV OUT connector on the back of the receiver. The terrestrial antenna is connected to the ANT IN connector. Wherein satellite television will appear on channel 10 of your TV. If channel 10 is occupied by one of the local broadcasting stations, then using the CH ADJ adjusting screw, the satellite signal can be tuned to channel 11 or 12.
On most modern TV models, there are low-frequency inputs in the form of scart or bell connectors. It is preferable to connect the receiver to the TV using a cable terminated on both sides with a scart socket or two bell sockets. For the scart socket, use the TV jack on the rear panel, and for the bell sockets, use the VIDEO and AUDIO B(R) jacks. In the case of a low-frequency connection, the TV must be switched to monitor mode according to the instructions (usually called AV mode).
The first four channels in the NTV-200 receiver are tuned to programs from the Gals satellite. You can select one of the movie channels for tuning. For example, channel 4 - "Our cinema". Please note that during the day on this channel there is a break in broadcasting and the standard tuning grid is visible. Channels on the receiver are switched, as on a conventional TV, using the remote control remote control- numeric keypad or CH (channel selection) buttons.
The NTV-100 receiver model differs from the NTV-200 in the absence of a TV OUT output. In this case, the receiver can be connected to the TV only at a low frequency, that is, through scart or bell connectors. Note that all modern TV models have such inputs. Therefore, from our point of view, if your TV has low-frequency inputs, then it is preferable to purchase a set with an NTV-100 receiver, and not an NTV-200. In this case, you will save the equivalent of about $10.
Fig.7.
The NTV-3000 receiver (see Fig. 8) differs significantly from the other two models. It is much more convenient in operation, has a number of additional functions and allows you to further increase the capabilities of your installation. The on-screen menu, which can be called up on your TV screen, greatly facilitates the work of setting up and reconfiguring the receiver's parameters. The presence of a timer and a third "scart" connector allows you to record satellite transmissions on your VCR in your absence with programming the start of recording 28 days in advance. There is no need to leave the TV on.
The NTV-3000 receiver allows you to lock access to any of the channels with a password. This, for example, is very convenient if your child, when he is at home alone, has a tendency to watch action films or reports from sports matches, and not to do his homework. And the presence of erotic programs on NTV-Plus makes this function even more relevant.
In addition, the current control of the polarizer allows, after purchasing a positioner and an antenna with a polar suspension and without replacing the receiver itself, to receive signals from several satellites, without making manual adjustments to the antenna.
It should be noted that you can connect the NTV-3000 receiver only if you have a UHF unit in your TV. True, it is usually absent only in very old TV models. The factory setting corresponds to channel 36. If in your locality If this channel is busy, then using the corresponding menu item, the receiver's output can be set to any channel from 21 to 69.
Fig.8.
In general, before working with the receiver, especially with the NTV-3000 model, carefully study the instructions. NTV-Plus equipment kits include detailed instructions to the receiver in Russian.
After the antenna is fixed in place, the equipment is turned on, everything presets done, you should see the characteristic noise of the converter on the TV screen. The screen is covered with small mottled short white and black stripes. If it doesn't, it means you connected something incorrectly. Rotate the antenna and catch the signs of a television image on the screen. A 60 cm antenna has a radiation pattern of 2.5 - 3 degrees, a 90 cm antenna has a radiation pattern of 1.5 - 2 degrees. These figures characterize the accuracy with which it is necessary to "catch" the satellite "in the sky" with the antenna.
Note that during the tuning process, you can catch the signal of any other satellite. You need to find a picture with the NTV logo in the lower left corner of the screen. After coding NTV-Plus programs, the task will become somewhat more complicated. The screen will not show a normal TV picture, but only interspersed horizontal multi-colored stripes of different brightness, indicating that you "caught" the encoded signal.
The signal is found, you have achieved the best possible image. Now tighten all the adjustment screws on the antenna and route the cable to where you usually have your TV.
When you, dear readers, read this material, NTV-Plus programs will probably already be encoded. Pay attention to the following features of working with the decoder. According to the instructions, the decoder will need to be connected through the DECODER connector on the back of the receiver. The first time you turn it on, the decoder is installed, which can take up to 10 minutes until a decoded image is received. Each decoder is accompanied by a key that contains an individual subscriber code. If the decoder is stolen, you can report its number to the customer service center, and this particular decoder will be disabled. In addition, the keys can be replaced - for example, in the event of a global hacking of the system by pirates. We will be able to give more detailed information about the operation of the decoder after the start of encoding NTV-Plus channels.
At the moment, every user who is looking for a suitable satellite TV operator knows that among the variety of providers it is very difficult to choose a truly ideal one. That is why in searches it is required to build on popular providers, and already among them, knowing that the connection of the dish will be of high quality, choose the one who meets the user's requirements as fully as possible.
Among the most popular operators, the NTV Plus antenna can be distinguished. For many years, this company has been at the forefront of the market. Although recently it has had many competitors, this has not greatly affected its positions - NTV remains the leader. Users are not afraid of even the relatively high price of services. Of course, it’s not a pity to pay for such quality, and the equipment is excellent, because the installation of an NTV Plus antenna is one of the most popular services.
Widget from SocialMartHow to install NTV Plus
The process of installing an antenna from NTV PLUS consists of several stages:
- Purchase of equipment;
- Installation of purchased devices, starting with the antenna and ending with the receiver;
- Connecting the system to a TV;
- Channel setup.
Installation of NTV Plus in Krasnodar is carried out after you contact the regional representative office. For Moscow and the Moscow region, the task is as simple as for the regions, since there are NTV Plus offices in almost all cities of the country. The connection occurs after an application was left on the official website of the company, which indicated that the user wants to get the right to access satellite TV channels in the highest quality.
In addition, contacting specialists is vital, since it is professionals who will help not only choose a broadcast package, but also select equipment for comfortable signal reception. Specialists will provide Additional services, and draw up a contract without unnecessary hassle for a person.
In addition, you will need the following equipment:
- Satellite receiver;
- Cable with suitable connectors;
- It is also necessary to have a plate with a diameter of 60 cm or more;
- Access card and converter.
How to install an NTV Plus antenna
Antenna installation work is one of the most difficult and responsible. That is why most NTV Plus subscribers prefer not to risk rather expensive equipment, but to call a professional to install it. But if this is not possible, and you want to watch TV, you can install NTV Plus in the Moscow region or any other region of the country, using only your own strength.
The procedure is not the easiest, as already mentioned, but having certain tools and having an action plan, its implementation reduces most of the risks to a minimum. Here is the do-it-yourself satellite dish installation plan:
- First you need to carry out all the necessary preparations that will facilitate the process of work.
- In particular, the choice of the place of installation can be attributed to this category of work. This is very important, since the quality of the signal that will come to it depends on the place where the antenna will stand in the future. It is important not to stand in the way tall trees and especially buildings. So treat this work responsibly;
- Another important work related to the antenna is its assembly. Not everyone can properly assemble the antenna on their own. This is not a children's designer, although many models have been simplified to the maximum. Essentially, the job is to put together the mirror, that is, the disk of the dish itself, with the holder and the converter. This is done with the help of fasteners (bolts, U-shaped plates, threaded studs, etc.). Do not worry, the kit comes with instructions, where it is indicated how and in what order all this is attached.
- The installation of a satellite dish consists in preparing a holder - a curved pipe, on which the equipment will be held. The holder must be fixed to four strong anchors. If the fastening is carried out on a wooden or plank surface, then the fasteners are selected, taking into account their specifics. It is important that the antenna does not "walk". But the place can be a wall or a roof, depending on what you decided at the first, preparatory, stage of work.
- The third step is to connect the cable to the antenna, and run it to the receiver. Pulling the cable is not hard work, but the tricky part is choosing the right connectors.
- The equipment is configured on the receiver itself, since it is on it that we need to find the satellite we need and conduct a search according to the NTV Plus parameters.
But installing an antenna is not enough, because the device may not have the necessary parameters of the satellite from which NTV broadcasts in your region. In this case, before looking for channels, this must be corrected by looking at the necessary parameters on the official website of the company. Without them, it will not be possible to make adjustments.
Search for TV channels
Once the antenna is installed and the equipment connection is checked, it's time to make sure that the device works. But first of all, all newly installed equipment must be registered on the company's website so that you are granted the right to use the services of watching paid channels in high quality.
The registration process is short and easy. Although you can not waste your time on dealing with online forms, but use the NTV hotline, describe to the consultant all the necessary information. After a while, the channels will start working. If not, it means that some settings are knocked down, which is not excluded, given that you did the installation yourself, and it’s good if you used the video as an additional instruction.
There are two channel settings:
- Manual;
- Auto.
The second option is the easiest, since all the user needs to implement it is to go to "Settings", select "Search for NTV PLUS channels". If the person who installed the equipment did everything correctly, then the channels will immediately start working. And if mistakes were made, then you will have to reset all the parameters to the factory settings, find the broadcasting parameters for your region on the website and follow the instructions.
