Pipes necessary for the installation of the sewer system. Installation of plastic sewer pipes
Modern manufacturers today offer a very wide selection of materials for arranging a sewer system. Most of the pipes are made of PVC plastic. This material has a number of undeniable advantages over others. For example, resistance to aggressive environments and ease of do-it-yourself installation make plastic pipes a favorite when working with domestic wastewater.
Due to its low weight, special equipment is not required, and do-it-yourself PVC pipe laying becomes available to every home craftsman. The inner smooth surface of this material does not retain solids, which significantly reduces the risk of rapid wear and clogging of the drain.
An indisputable advantage is the affordable price of PVC pipes, in comparison with other materials for arranging the sewer system.
However, during the installation of sewage with your own hands, it is necessary to take into account the nuances, non-observance of which can nullify all work. Incorrect calculation of slopes, incorrect installation, non-compliance with surface preparation, and others can render the system inoperable during operation.
Due to the fact that in high-rise buildings the diameter of the pipe is higher, this can smooth out installation errors to some extent. But in a private house, all the nuances must be taken into account, because. just one wrong bend can paralyze the operation of the entire sewerage system or cause permanent blockages in this place.
Design features of the sewerage system
Sewerage can become clogged quite often and the causes of these problems do not always indicate an improper installation of the system. Residents often perceive sewers as a place to dump garbage, which naturally leads to breakage or clogging.
However, the most common cause of system clogging is installation errors. Some non-professional craftsmen use pipes with a rough inner surface, on which waste is layered during operation, when arranging sewage. A very common mistake is considered to be an incorrectly designed project of the entire sewerage system in a private house. As a result, due to large bends, all kinds of turns and ledges, the system becomes unusable.
Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to take into account all the features of the layout of the premises, calculate the required amount of materials, the method of sealing joints, etc.
PVC plastic pipes are easily processed and cut to the required size without the use of complex fixtures. This makes them convenient for do-it-yourself installation in a private house or apartment.
Cutting PVC sewer pipes
- In a convenient and affordable way for most, you can cut PVC material with a special saw. As a result, with the necessary skill, a sufficiently high-quality cut is obtained.
- When trimming at home, you can use a regular hacksaw for metal. After its application, it is necessary to further process the cut, removing burrs and leveling the edge.
- In a tight enclosed space, trimming is done with a thin cable, which has handles at the ends. To do this, the cable is pulled around the PVC pipe strictly at right angles and reciprocating movements are performed. As a result, the pipe is frayed by the cable.
Note! To create a high-quality cut, it is necessary to observe an angle of 90 ° between rope and pipe
Important! When cutting sewer pipes, burrs are always formed. During the operation of the sewerage system, this is considered unacceptable. Therefore, all burrs must be carefully removed so that the protruding plastic does not interfere with the creation of the correct tight and reliable joint, and does not interfere with the passage of drains through the pipe.
To remove burrs, take an ordinary knife and carefully trim the protruding plastic from the outside and from the inside. This procedure must be performed very carefully on the inner surface, because the functioning of the sewage system in the future depends on this and will not allow the entire installation of sewer pipes to be nullified.
Preparation and installation of plastic pipes
Preparation means fitting all the details of the future system in terms of connections and dimensions. Do-it-yourself PVC pipe installation rules also require checking the accuracy of compliance with all slopes and angles specified in the project.
Algorithm for installing plastic sewer pipes with your own hands:
- Marks are made indicating the location of each element of pipelines. To do this, use a marker;
- Preliminary preparation of parts for connection, careful adjustment and preliminary leaky connection are carried out. For a good fit of parts, it is necessary that the pipe freely enters the socket by 2/3, and with further pressure, it provides little resistance.
- Leave the inner surface of the pipe smooth, and at the joints, process to a slight roughness with sandpaper. This will create more adhesion of parts when gluing.
- Select the appropriate joint sealing material. To install PVC pipes with your own hands, use special adhesives.
Attention! Manufacturers today offer various materials for creating hermetic joints. Pay attention to which ones are suitable for PVC sewer pipes.
- Degrease and soften the edges of the parts. For example, methylene chloride.
- Connections are glued. To apply glue, use the supplied swab or a regular paint brush. Inner part the socket is smeared with a thin layer of glue, and the pipe itself is smeared with a thick layer.
- A fitting is put on the pipe, and the parts are held so that the marked marks remain a few centimeters apart.
- Next, the parts are rotated one into the other so that the marks match. If the connection is made correctly, then a small even layer of glue will come out.
- After that, the parts continue to hold for about 30 seconds. Further, in order to completely fill the joint, the joint is coated with glue.
This whole procedure takes about a minute, so assembly and installation plastic pipes do it yourself does not take much time.
Features of installing pipes of plastic pipes with your own hands
- Cutting PVC pipes must necessarily end with deburring cuts. To reduce the appearance of scuffing, a saw with a wide blade and small teeth is taken for cutting, sawed at an angle of 90 °.
- Control marks are applied at the stage of pre-assembly of parts, after which the system is disassembled.
- A metal pipeline laid in the wall is connected to plumbing fixtures through plastic pipes. To connect metal and PVC materials, there are special couplings without sockets.
- If it is required to drill a hole for the pipe, in order to avoid weakening the structure, special overlays are used for strengthening.
Fittings in the sewerage system
- Fittings with an angle of 22.5°, 45° and 90° are equipped with sockets at both ends. Transitional knees, as a rule, have only one socket. Such fittings, to save space, are usually connected to ordinary fittings (two fittings connected by a pipe take up more space).
- It is desirable to install adapter fittings with the end without a socket pointing down.
- 90° elbows are commonly used to connect horizontal and vertical branches. And to ensure the correct transition of the vertical pipe to the horizontal, use a fitting with an angle of 45 °. Small bends of the plastic structure are carried out by a knee with an angle of 22.5 °.
- Tees of various configurations can connect pipes both at an angle of 45 ° and at 90 °. Tees must be installed in two branches of the pipeline.
- Tees of 45 ° are used to connect any lines of the system, and 90-degree tees are used only for joining a vertical branch with a horizontal one.
- One tee can have different outlet diameters.
Additional necessary elements of the sewerage system, according to technology, can greatly facilitate the operation in the future. For example, cleaning hatches are necessary not only for cleaning, but also for monitoring the operation of the system.
The end hatch is mounted on a socket, most often on the upward part of a 45 ° tee in a horizontal branch. Such a hatch should have a plug, removing which you can access the inside of the sewer system.
Siphons that create a water seal are also an important part of the entire system. They protect against the ingress of unpleasant odors into living quarters, are able to collect small, easily removed, debris. These elements are installed directly under the plumbing and should be easily accessible.
Installation of external sewage
Installation of sewer pipes on the street requires compliance with a certain standard for each step. To install an external pipeline, it is necessary to dig trenches with a depth exceeding the level of soil freezing. The technology requires observing a pipe slope of 2-3 cm per meter. When connecting, the so-called socket method is used. The laying must be done so that the pipes do not bend under the mass of soil.
The sewer system is a necessary element of comfort in a private house or country house. She performs important features to clean the house from the smell and sewage. Poorly done pipe installation can cause blockages and odors.
Not everyone knows how to install sewer pipes. Most entrust this work only to professionals. But, observing the technology, you can equip the sewer with your own hands.
Basic installation rules
The main difficulties lie not only in the specificity of installation work, the correct selection of materials, equipment and components, but also in compliance with rules and regulations.
Pipeline slope
The main sewerage mechanism is a natural (non-pressure) waste flow through pipes. Proper installation is carried out with a slope of 2-15% to the internal pipeline, external sewerage and to the septic tank. The exact angle is determined individually. For these purposes, special tables are used with average values for plumbing fixtures and pipes of different lengths and diameters. The slope of the pipes is fixed with brackets attached to the walls.
Often create the desired pipe slope on ground floor and in the basement is not possible. To do this, install pumping equipment.
Pipe diameter
There is a certain norm for the ratio of pipe diameters: the difference between the diameter of the pipe at the point where the plumbing is connected to the sewer and between the diameter of the pipe that goes into the septic tank should be 2-15 cm.
Universal pipe diameters for various sections of the sewer system:
- For washbasin and bidet - 32 - 40 mm;
- For sink and bathroom - 50 mm;
- For a toilet bowl, a drain pipe for a drain - 100 mm;
- For a riser and connection points for several plumbing fixtures - 70 - 85 mm.
Insulation of sewer pipes
According to the installation rules, pipes are insulated by wrapping with glass wool or fiberglass, covered with polyethylene.
Ventilation system
Ventilation - regulates the pressure and evaporation of gases during the flow of effluents. For this purpose, hatches for ventilation, wells, valves are installed in the internal sewerage system and external.
If there are several collectors in the house, ventilation should be provided in all. Ventilation is taken out through and.
If the length of the connection between the pipeline and the toilet is more than 1 m, and all other plumbing fixtures are more than 3 m, they must be equipped with an additional ventilation pipe that removes gases to the outside through the roof.
Pipes and their elements and connection methods
Parts of the internal sewerage:
- bell-shaped connecting elements;
- special sewer connection;
- ordinary sewer riser;
- outlet pipes;
- deflector;
- ladder built into the floor.
The reliability of pipe connections in the system affects the durability of its service. Carefully study the characteristics of pipe materials, types of connections, materials and elements that you will need. These are various tees, adapters, couplings, crosses, fittings and parts of turns connecting pipes.
During installation, you can use pipes from different materials. The most popular are plastic and cast iron. Moreover, the latter are capricious in care and laborious in installation. Therefore, plastic ones are most often installed. Plastic differs from cast iron and metal products in that it does not burst, does not corrode and is quite light.
Usually for sewer systems are used:
- polyethylene (PE);
- low pressure polyethylene (HDPE);
- polyvinyl chloride (PVC);
- reinforced and non-reinforced polypropylene (PP);
- metal-plastic.
It is also necessary to know the methods of joining pipes from various materials:
- welding;
- threaded connections;
- into the socket;
- electrofusion connections;
- flange connections.
Preparing for installation
First, decide what devices and where you will install. Make a plan, think about what components will be required for the normal operation of the devices. Calculate all sizes.
You may need:
- grinder or hacksaw;
- drill or perforator;
- mounting gun;
- chisel;
- screwdrivers;
- a hammer;
- wrench.
Cutting plastic pipes
Often, special tools and fixtures are required to cut such pipes. Poorly cut and not cleaned ends leave gaps in the joints, allowing seepage of sewage household waste.
Tools used for cutting plastic pipes:
- pipe cutter Roller is suitable for cutting pipes with a diameter of up to 38 mm. It makes cuts neat, without nicks, without bending the pipe. The roller regulates the tightness of the connection of its cutting sections to the pipes. The disadvantage of a pipe cutter is the need for a large working space. If you need to cut a pipe arranged near the wall, he will have nowhere to turn around. For such sections, single-pass pipe cutters are used.
- special scissors and guillotines. They usually come with soldering irons or welding machines and are distinguished by a sharp knife with a flat, short and wide blade, and a semi-circular holder located under the knife. Good scissors cut pipes up to 42 mm in diameter. The disadvantage is a strong tension of the hands.
- beveler. Its task is to remove the edge of the ends of the pipes, to improve adhesion during their welding. Manual bevelers can work with pipes 40 - 300 mm.
- caliber or calibrator. Cleans the aluminum layer of the ends of the pipe before soldering, and also removes the chamfer, removes burrs and other irregularities. Calibrators ideally align the cut shape of pipes. In addition, each calibrator works only with a certain diameter of pipes.
Installation of plastic pipes
For the correct connection and laying of plastic pipes, it is important to keep in mind the features of their installation, for example, what:
- all types of threaded connections of plastic pipes are sealed with rubber gaskets, or FUM tape;
- when connecting to a socket, only rubber gaskets are used, and when connecting a plastic pipe to a metal one, seals are used.
- when threading plastic pipes using couplings, you need to insert the chamfered pipe into the coupling to the end, and then push it back. This will prevent the pipe from deforming as it expands during draining. hot water;
- for sewer pipes for draining hot water, it is necessary to install a movable connection of sections, for which threaded connections are used more often.
- when connecting plumbing to the sewer, you need to use a flexible connection: corrugations, hoses, soft pipes.
Installation of a sewerage system made of plastic:
- we make markings on the walls, the floor, at the points of connection to plumbing fixtures, at the junctions of pipes, and pipes that discharge drains;
- we lay and connect pipes by welding, special connecting elements and fasteners;
- bends or bends with slopes are connected to pipes or plumbing fixtures with adapters. We use fittings if it is necessary to make a branch from one pipeline to another.
Installation diagram of cast iron pipes:
- we insert the tail part of the pipe without a socket into the socket of another installed pipe;
- all gaps between the edges are sealed with a sealant (linen tow soaked in grease, machine oil or other lubricant). We hammer it 2/3 into the cracks with a wooden spatula;
- we fill the remaining distance with a non-impregnated sealant;
- then we fill the socket with cement and ram it;
- lay a damp cloth on top of the cement to prevent cracking;
- you can use a special plumbing sealant, bituminous mastic and asbestos-cement mixture for these purposes
- where a connection of cast iron and plastic pipes is required, we use special couplings and adapters.
Features of the installation of the toilet
The most important part of the work is the device of the toilet bowl. We connect it to the sewerage system using a plastic pipe with a diameter of 110 mm. Then we perform a smooth transition to a 50 mm pipe. To do this, use a short bridge of 100 mm, then go to 50 mm.
Do not use right angle adapters. It would be smarter to use two 45-degree adapters. The pipes are joined through gaskets, but it is better to additionally use silicone sealant.
The comfort of the residents of an apartment or a private house is impossible without a high-quality sewer system. Imported furniture and chic design in the rooms have no weight if the sewers are leaking. Therefore, before laying a water pipe, competent installation of PVC sewer pipes or cast iron structures is required. Consider the features of working with a plastic pipeline, since branch communications are increasingly made of PVC. Let's talk about the algorithm of work, share the secrets and tricks of professionals.
The choice of materials for sewerage
In 99% of cases, plastic pipes (polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene) are used during the installation of sewerage. The advantages of communications made of synthetic materials are lightness, ease of assembly, resistance to hydrothermal loads and corrosion, and durability.
PVC products are most often used in the laying of sewers
Note: For sewer structures, plastic parts of much thinner thickness can be used than for plumbing, since the pressure is lower.
Diameter is a key factor to focus on. This value depends on the type of plumbing equipment. Minimum diameters:
- bidet and sinks - from 32-40 mm;
- shower cabins and bathtubs - from 50 mm;
- if more than one device is supposed to be connected to the pipe - from 70-85 mm;
- main risers - from 100 mm.
Before you start installing sewer pipes with your own hands, draw up a detailed diagram of the future communications system with calculations of consumables. Calculate the number and footage of parts and fittings.
Treat joints and attachment points with a fitting with sealants for strength
Using a common drain for several plumbing fixtures will save money and space in the room, the result will be more aesthetic. Select the desired pipe diameter based on the above recommendations - sink, bathtub, washing machine can be connected to one pipe going to a common riser. The toilet must be connected directly to the riser - separately.
Preparatory work
It is possible to dismantle sewer pipes and lay new communications in a private house within a day to several days, in an apartment - from 1-2 to several hours. An illiterate approach and lack of a plan will stretch the event for weeks. Therefore, carefully prepare before starting work.
- Determine the type, location, and number of plumbing fixtures, pipes, and fittings.
- Make a diagram.
- Calculate the stock of additional parts necessary for the functioning of the system (measurement of the structure, the consumption of mixtures and fittings, consider with a margin).
- If in the future it is planned to install additional plumbing with a sewer drain, it is rational to leave a drain with a plug for it. Otherwise, you will have to change the system and carry out the dismantling of sewer pipes again.
- Buy supplies.
- According to the diagram, calculate the length of the segments, cut the pipes, taking into account the dimensions of the purchased fittings.
When marking a PVC product, make marks around the entire circumference
How to cut and strip PVC pipes
To cut plastic parts, just like when installing cast-iron sewer pipes, use a hacksaw.
Cutting algorithm:
- Mark the place of the cut in a circle - so the edge will turn out to be even, which will ensure the tightness of the joints.
- Cut strictly at a 90° angle.
- Then clean the ends with sandpaper or a knife.
Keep in mind that waste system installed at a slope, as the sewer works on the basis of gravity. Fix the slope with brackets on the walls. You need to buy them in advance along with the rest of the materials.
Installation of sewerage from pieces of PVC
To avoid leaks and inconsistencies, when assembling the sewer, it is recommended to move in the direction from the riser to the plumbing fixtures.
Fasten PVC communication to the wall every 100 cm, this will prevent subsidence and breakage.
Instructions for installing sewerage from plastic pipes:
- Mark the axes of pipelines, attachment points to walls and other surfaces.
- Assemble the fasteners from pipes, pipes and fittings using sealed rubber bands. Insert the parts into each other until it stops. Make sure the bonding surfaces are clean. Dirt will break the tightness of the connection. And this leads to leaks and the appearance of an unpleasant odor due to moisture condensation (at the joints, from sinks, baths and the sewer itself).
- Connect the structural parts, check the horizontal and vertical lines so that the fasteners are even and secure.
- Fasten products in clamps, lay horizontal structures to siphons and plumbing outlets.
Tip: to increase the tightness, the craftsmen advise lubricating the ends of the segments with non-acid sealants, soapy water, auto sealants or glycerin-based lubricants.
- When the system is assembled, connect all the plumbing one by one, including the siphons from the bathtub and sinks.
Rules for laying sewerage in the room
Try to reduce the number of joints and turns, solid communication is more reliable and durable. Each bonding point is a potential leak in the future, turns increase the risk of clogging.
For a quality result, follow the rules for installing sewer pipes:
- When working with plumbing, consider the characteristics of the material, each mixing unit has its own technology.
- When calculating the diameter of products, consider the angle of inclination and the number of connected devices. At the connection to the riser, use a diameter of 100-150 mm.
- Direct the sockets of the riser and horizontal sections towards the flow of wastewater.
- If, before laying new communications, sewer pipes were dismantled in an apartment or house, use plastic parts of the same diameter as the old ones.
- For horizontal wiring, a diameter of 100 mm is allowed, as is the case with the toilet riser, for other single fasteners, 50 mm is sufficient.
- The slope of the system should be 4-7 cm per 1 m.
- To prevent the sewer from sagging, attach the segments to the walls every 100 cm.
- Be sure to include fan ventilation in the drawing. This will help regulate the pressure in the drain compartments and get rid of unpleasant odors.
Avoid blockages in PVC pipes
Despite the fact that in the event of a breakdown, removing PVC pipes is easier than dismantling cast-iron sewer pipes, this event is troublesome and costs money. So that in case of blockage you do not have to disrupt or replace the installed communications, provide for “cleaning” with plugs. Another preventive measure is additional vertical outlets for air check valves (a diameter of 50 mm is sufficient).
To clean possible blockages, leave the revision with a plug - this will make it easier to access the clogged area
Revisions with removable covers when installing pipes for external sewerage are installed every 15 m. For internal systems - at the junction of horizontal sections with a riser. This step will make it easier to clear the drain if it becomes clogged.
How to test the sewer
Upon completion of the work, test the sewer system for tightness.
Verification options:
- turn on all existing plumbing at the same time;
- take a bucket of water, pour it in one gulp into the sink, then into the bath.
During the inspection, examine all joints and connections. If no problems are found, the test passed. If there are leaks, fix and re-treat problem areas with sealants or construction adhesive. After the insulating materials have dried, carry out the tests again.
During tests, pay attention to joints and attachments to fittings.
Video: installation of plastic sewer pipes
Sewerage in a house or apartment is perhaps the most important communication system necessary for a comfortable existence. It serves to drain wastewater from the apartment. Therefore, if your house is being renovated, before “constructing”, you should think about the drainage system.
In this article, we will describe the entire process of installing a sewer with our own hands. All instructions, tips and tricks are already collected here, so you don't have to look for any additional information.
We select and calculate materials
Plastic sewer pipes
In 99% of cases, sewer systems are installed from plastic pipes. They are made from different materials polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc.), but in general their properties are clear. Pipes for sewerage are much thinner than water pipes, because. there is no high pressure in the sewer system.
The advantages of plastic pipes for sewer installation are their lightness, durability, corrosion resistance and ease of assembly.
When choosing materials for the sewer system, it is important to consider the required diameter. Below is table, with the minimum allowable pipe diameter for a particular plumbing fixture.
Before going to the store or to the construction market, calculate the required number of certain pipes, as well as the so-called fittings (connecting parts).
By the way, study our material in order to understand exactly whether you need it. The author of the article describes in detail what it is and what convenience it adds.
If your sewer system involves "turns", then try to avoid right angles of 90 degrees. It is better to use two 45 degree fittings. This will avoid frequent blockages.
To save money and space in the bathroom, builders recommend using a common pipe of optimal diameter ( see table), for all plumbing fixtures except the toilet. Those. washbasin, bathtub, washing machine can be connected to a common pipe leading to the main riser. The toilet should be connected separately - directly to the riser.
Preparatory work
Preparatory work for the installation of sewerage in an apartment or house is perhaps the most important part. After all, neglecting a clear planning of actions or the availability of certain tools, it will drag on for a long time, although the installation of a sewer with competent actions is carried out in a few hours.
First, you need to decide where and what plumbing fixtures will be installed. Make a rough diagram on a piece of paper, determine what additional fittings or pipes you will need for the normal functioning of the devices. If you plan to install another device in the near future requiring a sewer drain, provide a drain for it with a temporary plug, because then changing the whole system will be very inconvenient.
Calculate the dimensions and cut the pipes, taking into account the dimensions of the fittings.
cut plastic sewer pipes can using a regular metal saw. Outline it in a circle at the incision site. You need to cut strictly at an angle of 90 degrees. The cut ends of the PVC pipe must be carefully cleaned with a knife or sandpaper.
It is important to take into account that the sewer must be installed at a slope, because almost any sewer system works with the help of " gravity". You need to fix the slope of the sewer with the brackets that are sold along with the pipes.
Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes
Sewer installation is carried out according to a simple scheme (see instructions)
Now that all the preparatory work is done, you can start assembling the system. Do-it-yourself sewer installation in a private house can take several days (depending on the size of the house and the number of plumbing fixtures), and in a small apartment the whole job will take 1-2 hours.
If a particularly heavy load is not expected on the sewer (in an apartment or in a house with the usual set of plumbing fixtures), then you will not need any special tools or skills. You can do everything with your own hands without any problems and efforts.
During the assembly of the pipe system, experts advise moving " from the riser» to plumbing fixtures.
The connection of sewer pipes with a fitting (connecting part) occurs with the help of a hermetic rubber band in the fitting. It is important to insert all elements evenly and until they stop. It is also necessary that the gum and all sewer elements are clean, in which case the sealing will be reliable and durable, and this is very important when designing, because. in case of leaks, the damage will be significant. Among other things, a loose connection leads to an unpleasant smell from the sewer in the bathroom.
Video with a visual image of how to properly cut and connect sewer pipes:
For greater reliability of the connection, home craftsmen lubricate the end of the pipe to be connected with glycerin grease or soapy water.
When the system is assembled, connect all plumbing fixtures in turn, while not forgetting the siphons (for the sink and for the bath). Then we proceed to the next step.
Testing the sewer
After the installation of the sewer system with your own hands in an apartment or house is completed, it is very important to test it for leaks.
To do this, it is enough to turn on all plumbing fixtures in an apartment or house at the same time. Also, “experienced” masters recommend pre-filling a bucket of water and pouring it sharply into the sink, washbasin and bath.
These actions will help determine how reliably your sewer will cope in critical situations. During the test, examine all connections. If there are no leaks, great, your job is done well! If there are still leaks, then you need to fix the “problem” places again.
If the connection is still "leaking"
There are situations when the connection is not reliable. In this case, during installation, you need to use a special adhesive-sealant. Apply sealant to the joints, insert the pipe into the fitting again (without removing the sealing gum) and let the glue dry. Then repeat the test again.

The main difference between plastic sewer pipes and cast iron pipes is the ease of assembly. If their predecessor was assembled using oiled rope and sulfur, then modern sewer pipes are mounted using rubber seals. In addition, the very weight of plastic pipes contributes to simple and easy installation, and in general, the installation of sewerage from plastic pipes can be compared with assembling a children's designer. It will be discussed in this article, in which, together with the site site, we will deal with the scheme for laying sewer wiring in a house or apartment, as well as with the principle of connecting plastic pipes to each other.
How sewer pipes are laid
Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes: device of the sewerage system
The main factor influencing the design of any sewer system is the natural flow of water. If we disassemble the drainage system from this side and draw parallels with the water supply system, then the sewage system is its complete antipode - the water supply system branches, and the sewage system, on the contrary, combines several branches into one large sleeve. But let's not get into the jungle - our task is to deal with.
So what do we have? Drain point where they go wastewater coming from all plumbing fixtures, and the siphons of the latter, which must be connected with a plastic pipe to a drain hole in the riser. In fact, this is the wiring of sewer pipes, and it looks like this. A main pipe is laid along the walls from the drain hole in the riser to the farthest consumer of water, to which every plumbing fixture encountered along its route is connected by means of tees. As you can see, nothing complicated.
Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes photo
Now the nuances, without which the laying of sewer pipes is impossible.
How to install plastic sewer you can watch in the next video.
Laying sewer pipes: connecting system elements
In principle, connecting a plastic pipe and, for example, a 45 ° elbow to each other is quite simple. Here the point is different - how well can you connect these elements?
It should be understood that the installation of plastic sewer pipes is not carried out for one year or even for 5 years - such a system is installed once and for a long time. Therefore, build quality plays a key role.
In addition, improperly assembled pipe connections will lead to minor leaks. But even worse, in these places from the sewerage system will seep, which is not eroded even by force.
Do-it-yourself installation of plastic sewer pipes photo
In many ways, the assembly quality of sewer pipes is ensured by sealing gaskets, which come in three types: single-feather, double-feather and double-feather with a plastic ring. Most novice masters do not attach any importance to this, and some specifically ignore it. The fact is that pipes with single-feather rubber bands are assembled very easily without the use of special lubricants, and pipes with double-feather gaskets, and even with a plastic ring, are very difficult to connect even with the use of lubricant. Here is your attitude to the matter - such craftsmen attribute their shortcomings to the quality of the pipe itself and fix them for some money with the help of silicone, which can only superficially seal the seam.
And we will return to the question, how is the connection of sewer pipes performed? Let's start with the gasket - a lot depends on how it is inserted into the socket. There shouldn't be any distortion here. If the rubber is initially deformed, then it is better to throw it away and put in a new and even one. By connecting pipes with a crooked or deformed seal, you ensure that this joint is leaking in advance. In general, you need to make sure that the gum is in the correct position.
Installation of PVC sewer pipes photo
Let's move on and talk a little about lubrication, which makes pipe connections easier. To make rubber slippery, you can use anything - soap, detergents, and even Vaseline, if you have one. There is only one “but” - how will the sealant you choose affect the rubber? Will you be sure that he will not change its properties? Will the rubber harden after six months? Such a seal will not be able to fully perform its tasks. For example, detergents (household chemicals) destroy seals. Soap, although it has less effect on them, creates a film that breaks down, after which a gap remains in its place. In general, I am leading to the fact that you need to use a special lubricant with the addition of silicone. Why not silicone itself? It's simple, it is aggressive and corrodes rubber even faster than household chemicals.
The biggest problem is circumcised. The factory end has a chamfer, which ensures the free connection of pipes and elements to each other - on a cut pipe, this chamfer will have to be done independently. It will need to be sharpened with a grinder and thoroughly cleaned of the resulting tatters. Such a chamfer turns out to be rough and creates some difficulties in assembling pipes, but it does not have any effect on the quality of the connection.
Well, the last point that affects the build quality of the sewerage system as a whole is the fastening of pipes. You yourself understand that if you ignore this step, then the joint will be broken and, as a result, you will get leaks and a counter slope, which leads to a fast one. Sewerage is fixed in increments of 1 m or near each socket, if it is assembled from small pieces of pipes.

That, in principle, is all you need to know about installing sewerage from plastic pipes. Following the simple rules described above, you can assemble a high-quality, and most importantly, durable and trouble-free sewer system with your own hands.
