The best caliber for a sniper rifle. The best sniper rifles of our time. The best rifles. Israel
Introduction
I still do not understand the purpose of very powerful large-caliber sniper rifles. There are two official uses for these rifles, but in my opinion they were not invented by the military, but by rifle manufacturers. The first option is to fight enemy snipers from a distance greater than the actual shooting distance of the enemy sniper. But here is a little snag - if you find an enemy shooter from a distance exceeding the actual shooting range, then this is anyone but a sniper.
The second version is the destruction of enemy equipment. Here a saboteur crept up to the airfield, shot at a fighter - here's twenty million losses for you! Only I wonder how many kilometers a day a saboteur will travel with a two-meter bandura weighing twenty kilograms. And also ammo, food and other equipment.
I recently came across a third option - for the destruction of unexploded ordnance.
Here is a photo clearly showing the place of a large-caliber sniper rifle in battle. There is an airborne combat vehicle. It has a thirty-millimeter cannon that can destroy any sniper point at a distance of three kilometers and an anti-tank guided projectile that will hit any armored target. And next to him is a sniper with a large-caliber rifle. And who is he going to shoot? Just don't say that it's cheaper to hit targets with a sniper rifle. A shooter who hits one and a half kilometers is very rare and his training costs no less than an airborne combat vehicle.
True, with a large caliber sniper rifle, you can very effectively walk out of the bar and look through the optical sight in the back of the person who stole your motorcycle. YOU CAN CLICK ON THE PHOTOGRAPHS - while some of them increase to unprecedented sizes.
Here are the joyful American maniacs at the making of large-caliber weapons. How do you imagine a saboteur who sneaks with what an American comrade holds in his right hand?
It is also necessary to distinguish between large-caliber sniper rifles proper - that is, weapons with high firing accuracy, and conventional anti-tank rifles that, due to a misunderstanding, they are trying to produce in the twenty-first century. All self-loading systems made according to the recoil scheme, by definition, have low accuracy. Self-loading models made according to the scheme with the removal of powder gases from the barrel are more accurate. Well, the most accurate are single-shot sniper rifles. The magazine itself, when manually reloading, does not affect the accuracy of shooting, but with its window it reduces the rigidity of the receiver with all the ensuing consequences for accurate shooting.
American sniper rifles of large calibers
The American company Anzio Ironworks, under the leadership of a maniac named Mike Remo, produces several models of weapons chambered (although it would be more correct to say a projectile) of the VULKAN-M61 anti-aircraft gun and, later, the aircraft gun. Caliber twenty millimeters with a sleeve length one hundred and two millimeters. A projectile weighing one hundred grams accelerates to a speed of 1030 meters per second, which corresponds to fifty-three thousand joules joules.
The photo shows an Anzio-Take-Down Rifle single-shot sniper rifle. Barrel length - 1270 millimeters. The effective firing range is 2730 meters. The total weight is 17.2 kilograms.
Heavy magazine-fed sniper rifle with manual reloading - Anzio Mag-Fed Rifle. The magazine capacity of this rifle is three rounds. Barrel length - 1244 millimeters. In addition to ammunition 20x102, it can be remade under the Soviet cartridge 14.5x114 millimeters. Our cartridge accelerates a bullet weighing 64 grams a little faster than a thousand meters per second. The power, respectively, is thirty-two thousand joules.
And this is her ammo. They are blue because they are in a polymer shell. This was done so that the barrels of aircraft guns would not overheat during intense firing. The shell polymer is strong enough to go along the rifling without breaking and slippery enough not to heat up the barrel by friction. And you thought the barrels from powder gases heat up?
We also tried to make such shells.
The speed of the projectile is high, the core is tungsten - that's why the pieces of iron make holes.
Sniper rifles BARRETT
BARRETT designers keep themselves in hand, so they produce sniper weapons mainly in the fiftieth caliber. In millimeters it will be 12.7. At first they tried to shoot with an ordinary machine-gun cartridge, but the accuracy and, accordingly, the accuracy was not what. And so they quickly switched to the production of special cartridges. And having started the experiments, they could not stop and now there are a great many of these cartridges.
50 caliber cartridges
The cartridge known as .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun, metric designation 12.7x99) is one of the oldest machine gun cartridges. True, now he has modern gunpowder and a huge number of bullet options. For sniper rifles, cartridges are made to slightly different tolerances than for machine guns. The muzzle velocity of a bullet is highly dependent on its weight. A bullet weighing 43 grams accelerates to 880 meters per second, which gives a power of seventeen thousand joules.
The first was the large-caliber M-82 sniper rifle and its numerous modifications. Moreover, some modifications that differed very little from the prototype were designated by a completely different number.
1. Cartridge.50 BMG
2. Mechanism: semi-automatic, short stroke
3. Total length: 1448mm
4. Barrel Length: 737mm
5. Shop: 10 rounds, box
6. Scope: 10X
7. Weight: 12.9 kilograms empty
And this is an option for shooting from the shoulder. Probably to scare away helicopters.
It's kind of like never a sniper rifle, but it is a variant of the eighty-second model that received a different barrel. It's just that the designers decided to slightly increase the caliber. It is called - XM-109. Caliber twenty-five millimeters. A small projectile was specially designed for it.
The projectile is universal and highly advanced. The photo shows a cumulative recess, and in front of it is an electronic unit that can be programmed to a meter accurate for a remote explosion.
Apparently, there are two types of muzzle brakes - conventional and reactive with baffles deflected back. The reactive one more effectively dampens the recoil when fired, but also more effectively contuses the shooter.
1. Cartridge 25x59
2. Length 1170 millimeters
3. Barrel length 444 mm
4. Weight 14 kilograms
5. The initial speed of the projectile is 450 meters per second
6. Magazine capacity four rounds
The second was the M-90 and M-95 which differed only in small things. The main difference from the previous model was manual reloading and, as a result, increased firing accuracy. The rifle was made according to the bullpup scheme.

3. total length: 1143 millimeters
4. Barrel length: 737 millimeters
4. Shop: 5 rounds box
5. Weight: 9.98 kilograms empty
A very light M-98V sniper rifle for its caliber. This is achieved by the fact that the bolt clings directly to the barrel and the receiver is not under heavy load and is made of aluminum. The weight turned out to be not large, but the smaller the weight of the weapon, the greater the return.
1. Cartridge.50 BMG
2. Mechanism: manual reloading, bolt action
3. Total length: 1267 millimeters
4. Barrel length: 636 millimeters

4. Barrel length 838 or 737 millimeters
5. Feeding one cartridge through the window in the receiver
6. Weight 11.36 or 9.53 kilograms
This model called M-107. What can be said about her? This is just a deep modernization of the eighty-second model. For Americans, models that are different in principle can differ only in a letter, and the same ones have different numbered indices.
Note. In the photo, the M-98 model has automatic barrel recoil, and the M-98V model has a gas drive with gas removal from the barrel.

German large-caliber sniper rifle DSR-Precision DSR 50
Germany produces only one powerful large-caliber sniper rifle. This is a DSR-Precision DSR 50. In some of the photos, the knob at the end of the barrel catches the eye, many call it a silencer, but it’s more correct to call it a flame arrester. The fact is that the main sonic boom is created not by powder gases, but by a bullet flying three times faster than the speed of sound. Therefore, truly quiet rifles have up to sonic muzzle velocity.

Is it even possible to hit from a sniper rifle at long distances?
Now in the weapons press they write a lot about the achievements and records of snipers, mostly American. They give the facts of hitting one and a half, two, two and a half, and so on ad infinitum kilometers. Is it true? Truth!!! But not all. It’s just that they don’t tell anyone how many times this sniper missed at this distance. I'm not saying that the hits are completely random, it's just that when shooting, there are VERY MANY factors that can lead to a miss. And with an increase in the firing distance, these factors do not affect directly proportionally. That is, if you have a hundred meters distance between hits of one centimeter, then a kilometer will not be ten, but from thirty to infinity.
Let's figure out what we need for accurate shooting and what prevents accurate shooting. The most important thing is to achieve the repeatability of the shot. To do this, we must have bullets of the same shape and the same weight. There must be the same weight of gunpowder and the gunpowder itself must be from the same batch. Plus a good barrel, good optics and a good shooter.
What prevents an accurate shot? All that affects the muzzle velocity of a bullet is mainly the temperature of the powder charge. All that affects the bullet in flight is the value of atmospheric pressure, humidity, wind. And there is also a barrel and an optical sight, which are deformed in sunlight. When shooting at a hundred meters, this deformation is not noticeable, but at two kilometers it already gives an error. Therefore, now next to the sniper lies an assistant with a rangefinder, a ballistic computer and a small meteorological station.
A small technical digression, which will show how important it is to change the pressure on the firing range. The Kalashnikov assault rifle shoots thirty-six kilometers in airless space. Under normal conditions, the DShK machine gun reaches a height of 1500 meters. And shooting from a mountain two kilometers high, he already has a reach of 3000 meters in height. Therefore, our pilots in Afghanistan at first were very surprised when they received a bullet from the DShK at an altitude of five kilometers.
Therefore, before the shot, the sniper's assistant enters into the ballistic computer the temperature, pressure, distance to the target, the angle of the target (it can be higher or lower than the shooter), the strength and direction of the wind. This last point explains why a sniper cannot accurately shoot long distances. What wind force and what direction is entered into the ballistic computer? The same one that the sniper assistant measured AT A SPECIFIC TIME on his couch in the bushes near the ground. And the trajectory of a bullet when shooting a kilometer is six meters higher than the aiming line. What's the wind like there? Which way is it blowing? And there is movement warm air which, like a lens, changes the direction of light and in optics we see the target not quite where it actually is. And also the shooter, even if just a little bit trying to fill up the rifle.
During the First World War, there was an original way of firing at distant targets. Realizing that it was unlikely to consciously hit at such a distance, the fighters became a bunch and fired all at once, aiming to the right, to the left, above or below the target. Sometimes they hit.
Conclusion
And the topic of large-caliber sniper rifles turned out to be endless. I had to write a separate article about the MOST POWERFUL SNIPER RIFLES. And then the girls on the Internet write such nonsense about them. And I also watched the movie SEA BATTLE.
It turns out that large-caliber sniper rifles can shoot at alien ships.
But I never get tired of repeating - good weapons are good, but the main thing is the training of personnel. Here in the photo classic example divert the enemy's attention. They showed you the middle finger right hand. And you look at him with a lot of emotions. And I'm sure that ninety-eight percent did not notice where the girl is picking with her left hand.
A sniper is a military or law enforcement officer who is fluent in the art of marksmanship. Snipers must be excellent at camouflage, keep an eye on the enemy, have self-control and composure. The sniper is the real elite of the ground forces.
The main target of a sniper on the battlefield are enemy officers, machine gunners, grenade launchers, operators of anti-tank systems, signalmen. Sniper fire not only destroys the most dangerous opponents, but also undermines the morale of the enemy, sowing panic among his fighters. The task of the sniper is to destroy his target with the first shot. The best sniper weapons can hit the enemy at distances up to four kilometers.
To perform his functions, the sniper uses a special weapon - a sniper rifle, as well as other devices necessary to ensure an accurate shot. A sniper rifle is usually equipped with an optical sight and is characterized by high accuracy and accuracy of fire compared to conventional small arms. Modern sniper rifles are the epitome of the latest technologies and innovative design solutions. Therefore, the best sniper rifles can cost several tens of thousands of dollars. According to modern requirements to sniper weapons, dispersion must not exceed 1 minute of arc (MOA).
A sniper rifle requires special handling - this weapon needs to be cleaned, lubricated and maintained regularly, because even a minor defect can seriously affect the accuracy of shooting.
Sniper rifles can be non-automatic (bolt-action) and self-loading. As a rule, non-automatic rifles are more accurate, since vibrations from the operation of automation reduce the accuracy of the weapon. However, sometimes the ability to quickly make a second shot is more important than the accuracy of fire.
For a sniper, not only a rifle is important, he also needs special cartridges. In addition, for an accurate shot (especially at long distances), additional equipment is used: rangefinders, ballistic computers, sensors for determining the speed and direction of wind, humidity, and air temperature.
There is often a fierce debate on the Internet about which sniper rifles in the world are the best. This question is very complicated - it is very difficult to make a choice from a large number outstanding examples of sniper weapons. We have prepared a top 10, which includes the best rifles different countries and historical periods.
10. KORD (ASVK)
This is a Russian powerful large-caliber rifle, work on the creation of which began in the Soviet Union. In 2004, it was launched into mass production, and since then these sniper rifles have been used by the Russian armed forces.
9. M2010
In ninth place in the top 10 is a sniper rifle specially designed for the US military. It is a deep modernization of the M24 rifle, which has been used by the American army for many years.
The modernization was carried out taking into account the experience gained by the Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq. The M2010 uses a more powerful cartridge. 300 Winchester Magnum, weapon ergonomics are significantly improved, a muzzle brake with a silencer is installed.
The disadvantages of the M2010 (compared to the M24) include a brighter flash of the shot and strong recoil due to the use of more powerful ammunition.
8. SVD
In eighth place in the top 10 is the legendary Soviet self-loading sniper rifle SVD, adopted by the Soviet army in 1963. Although this weapon is not the most powerful, accurate and convenient, but because of its cheapness and reliability, the SVD is the most massive sniper weapon in the world.
The automatic rifle works by removing powder gases from the bore, the magazine has a capacity of ten rounds.
The aiming range of the SVD is 1.3 thousand meters, but at such a distance the accuracy of the shot will not be high.
Currently, SVD-type sniper rifles are called "Marksman" in the West. This term refers to the weapon of an infantry sniper operating as part of his unit. Its main task is to defeat the enemy at short and medium distances. Such rifles occupy a middle position between conventional small arms and high-precision bolt-action sniper systems.
7.PSG1
In seventh place in the top 10 is the German PSG1 self-loading rifle, manufactured by the famous weapons company Heckler & Koch. This weapon was developed after the tragic events at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Then the German law enforcement officers failed to save the hostages due to the inability to quickly neutralize the terrorists. Gunsmiths Heckler & Koch were tasked with creating a new sniper rifle for police special forces.
The PSG1 uses the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge, has magazines with a capacity of 5 or 20 rounds and an effective range of 600 meters. This rifle is considered one of the most accurate self-loading sniper systems.
6. "Vintorez"
This is a silent sniper rifle developed in the late 80s in the USSR for the needs of special units of the armed forces, state security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
5 CheyTac M200 Intervention
In fifth place in the top 10 is the CheyTac M200 Intervention large-caliber sniper rifle, developed in the USA at the beginning of this century. Almost all the achievements of technologists and weapon designers are embodied in this rifle.
The CheyTac M200 Intervention sniper complex uses .408 CheyTac and .375 CheyTac ammunition, has manual reloading and a number of additional options: a computer to which you can connect a set of various sensors (wind, temperature, humidity sensors). All this allows an experienced shooter to hit targets at distances up to 2 km. However, the CheyTac M200 Intervention costs a lot: the price can reach 50 thousand dollars. The weight of the rifle is 12 kg.
4. "Orsis" T-5000
In fourth place in the top 10 is the latest Russian sniper rifle, developed by the private company Promtekhnologii at the beginning of this decade. "Orsis" T-5000 is considered one of the most accurate sniper systems in the world, its accuracy level is 0.2 MOA. This is a very good result for serial weapons.
The rifle is manufactured in two calibers: 8.6 mm and 7.62 mm; it weighs only 6.5 kg, which distinguishes the weapon from many domestic and foreign counterparts. During the test, the rifle was exposed to low and high temperatures, moisture, polluted. However, these factors could not reduce the accuracy of the weapon.
In 2012, thanks to this rifle, the Russian team won gold at the prestigious international sniper shooting competitions.
3. Barrett M82
In third place in the top 10 is the legendary American large-caliber rifle Barrett M82. It was invented and embodied in metal by the American Ronnie Barrett (before that he served in law enforcement agencies) in 1982. For a long time, Barret could not find customers who would be interested in his weapons. Only after the start of Operation Desert Storm did the US military department pay attention to the new sniper complex. Since then, Barrett has developed several models of large-caliber rifles that are popular with both the military and law enforcement officers.
This is a self-loading rifle that uses the most powerful 12.7 × 99 mm NATO cartridge (it is used in the Browning M2 heavy machine gun). Automation works due to the short stroke of the barrel, which is equipped with a muzzle brake of the original design. The weight of the rifle (for different modifications it is somewhat different) can reach 15 kg. The accuracy of the Barrett M82 is 1.5-2 MOA, which is quite good for a self-loading rifle of this caliber.
Rifles of the Barrett family are often referred to as "anti-materiel". The fact is that they were developed not so much to defeat infantry on the battlefield, but to destroy enemy material objects. A 12-gauge bullet can hit lightly armored vehicles, destroy enemy radar, or detonate an unexploded ordnance or mine. For these purposes, the accuracy of this sniper complex is quite sufficient.
Barrett rifles are very loved by Hollywood directors and can be easily understood: this weapon is really beautiful, it literally radiates power and deadly force.
2. Accuracy International AW50
In second place in the top 10 is another large-caliber rifle - Accuracy International AW50. This weapon is made in Britain, the rifle uses 12.7x99mm NATO cartridges (like the Barrett) and is equipped with a bolt-action bolt action. Magazine capacity - five rounds.
The maximum firing range of this weapon is 2 thousand meters. Currently, the Accuracy International AW50 rifle is in service with the UK, Germany, Australia, Portugal, South Korea and several other countries.
1. Accuracy International L96A1
The first place in the top 10 is occupied by another development of the British company Accuracy International - the L96A1 rifle. It can be called a real symbol of sniper weapons. The L96A1 was developed in 1982 and has been in service with the British Army ever since. It was from this weapon that the farthest successful shot from a sniper rifle was fired - 2475 meters.
The L96A1 has a bolt action, it can change caliber and use 6.2, 7.62 and 8.6mm cartridges. The effective firing range of the L96A1 is one and a half thousand meters. The cost of the rifle is 10-12 thousand dollars, which can be called quite a reasonable price for a weapon of this class.
In addition to Great Britain, the L96A1 is in service with another two dozen armies of the world.

In the early 90s, the command of the Swiss armed forces announced a competition for the creation of a new 5.56 mm sniper rifle intended for use by the troops special purpose. The requirements for the new weapon were quite stringent.
Large-caliber sniper rifle PGM Ultima Ratio Hecate II is a member of a whole family of rifles Ultima Ratio (Last Argument) and unlike small-caliber weapons, this SWR can rightfully bear such a name. The purpose of the PGM Ultima Ratio Hecate II is the same as that of other large-caliber sniper weapons: firing at enemy manpower protected by personal armor; fighting enemy snipers at distances inaccessible to their weapons; damage to light armored vehicles and so on.
This family of large-caliber sniper rifles is represented by models designed for a wide variety of calibers, but naturally large-caliber options are of greatest interest. Despite the fact that these rifles cannot boast of either the smallest mass or the smallest length, they have one feature that sets them apart from other weapons of a similar class.
This model of a sniper rifle is a kind of attempt to fix the not-so-successful rifle of the Truvelo SR family, also chambered for .50 BMG, and I must say the result came out quite decent, at least quite competitive with large-caliber sniper rifles from the USA and Europe.
These models of sniper rifles can be safely called the same, since the differences between them are only in their tactical purpose and different stocks, the rest is completely identical. These models of rifles are developed and produced by the Swiss company SIG Arms and are intended primarily for the army. Both sniper rifles do not stand out from other models of weapons with anything remarkable and have more than average characteristics.
This model of a sniper rifle is another product of the tandem of the Swiss arms company SIG Arms and the German JP Sauer und Sohn. This rifle was based on the Sauer 200 STR sporting rifle, however, it is not true to say that the difference between them is great, since it consists in a slight modernization of the firing mechanism and other minor changes.
This model of a sniper rifle, released in 1989, is one of the first fruits of a collaboration between the Swiss company SIG Arms (a few years later SAN Swiss Arms) and the German arms company J.P.Sauer und Sohn. It is impossible to call the SIG-Sauer SSG 2000 a weapon that is out of the ordinary in its parameters, it is a completely ordinary rifle that does not stand out in the general plan among many other sniper rifles, however, the quality of the weapon is quite decent, which is not surprising considering that the manufacturers are quite famous.
The RT-20 large-caliber sniper rifle is probably one of the most interesting examples of sniper weapons. Let's start with the fact that this rifle is one of the most powerful mass-produced, the rest of the 20 mm caliber weapons were created on the basis of a weaker cartridge, and those rifles whose caliber exceeds 2 centimeters are literally created piece by piece.
The sniper rifle is called the "queen of small arms". Appearing in the middle of the 19th century, this weapon instantly found its fans and, of course, became a reliable cover for the advanced detachments. Today, given all the latest developments, this weapon remains the most accurate. Sniper rifles are used in the army, and in the police, and in hunting, and, of course, in sports. Rifles are classified according to their scope. But still the most important requirement was and remains accuracy over a long distance. We have compiled a rating of the 10 best sniper rifles!
1 "Orsis" T-5000 (Russia)
This latest development of Russian gunsmiths is defined by most experts as a favorite of modern high-precision weapons. Developed in 2011, and in such a short period of time it managed to pass the most stringent tests, proving the uniqueness of the design, reliability, power, ease of use and, most importantly, accuracy. Orsis is produced in two calibers - 7.62 and 8.6 mm and has a weight of only 6.5 kg, significantly lower than Western weapons of this class. The initial speed of the bullet is 925 m / s. The rifle with honor passed all the tests at the Research Institute "Promtekhnologii", where it was frozen to -70, polluted, moistened, degreased parts and then fired. What can you say? "Orsis" not only did not lose the ability to shoot, but did not lose accuracy either (it remained at the level of 0.2 MOA). In 2012, at the international competitions of army snipers, the team from Russia took the "gold" - largely thanks to this rifle. Today, most experts put Orsis in first place among sniper weapons.

This sniper rifle, developed in 1982, has been tested directly on the battlefield. Developed by former policeman Ronnie Barrett, since 1989, these weapons have gone to the troops: first to the Swedish army (which is noteworthy), and then specialists from the United States itself became interested. Today, this rifle in various modifications is armed with snipers in 36 countries of the world, which makes it famous as an excellent weapon. Barrett's most popular caliber is the large 12.7mm. At the same time, the weight of the rifle is already 14 kg, and the accuracy is 1.5-2 MOA (for this caliber, this is a very good indicator). But here, as they say, there is no reception against scrap ... For example, in 2004 in Iraq, an American sniper killed three terrorists who were behind a stone wall, and even at a distance of 1600 meters, with one bullet. This sniper rifle has many more such records ahead of it. The US has many "hot spots" on the map.

The Lobaev sniper rifle is a unique weapon for Russia. It is produced by a private enterprise and under the personal control of the designer himself (formerly the shooter-athlete Vladislav Lobaev), and the rifles are created both for the army and for special squads. It is worth mentioning right away that several SVL are in service with the security service of the President of Russia. SVL 408 Chey-tac rifles have an effective range of 2200 meters, and the manufacturer guarantees an accuracy of 0.2-0.3 MOA, with properly selected cartridges. SVL are produced in any caliber and design features depending on the wishes of the customer (a true market approach!). But this makes these rifles unique and, if you like, one of a kind.
4
One of the most accurate, many experts call the "German" DSR-50. In fairness, it must be said that this is a kind of weapon intended mainly for the police and counter-terrorism units. Its accuracy is 0.2 MOA, but - subject to several conditions (weather, shooter qualifications, correctly selected cartridges, etc.). The military rifle was not rated as highly as the manufacturer expected, but nevertheless this sniper rifle fulfills its purpose successfully, being in service with some special squads of the German police.
Since 2010, after a deep modernization of the old M24, these rifles went into service with the US Army. In this weapon, the Americans widely used aluminum alloys and high-quality polymers, which make the rifle lighter and stronger. The Leupold Mark sight is also interesting, allowing you to change the brightness of the reticle. At international arms exhibitions, this "gadget" was highly appreciated by sniper specialists. The rifle is chambered for the powerful Winchester Magnum 300 cartridge. Accuracy at a distance of 1200-1300 meters is 1 MOA or less (not bad, but we could try). This rifle is in our 5th place.
6
Presented at the exhibition in 2005, this rifle almost immediately entered service with the special forces of the FSB of Russia. Flameless and silent, with a 12.7 mm cartridge and weighing only 5 kg, the Exhaust is truly an amazing weapon and the pride of the developers. The main disadvantage is the range: only 600 meters. But at this distance, her special cartridge SC-130 is able to pierce almost to take off, and, we recall, absolutely silently. The accuracy is 1 MOA or less, but the STs-130VPS cartridge pierces a 16 mm steel plate at a distance of 200 meters, and these are already serious indicators.

The peculiarity of this rifle is its modular design. It allows you to change barrels and, accordingly, calibers in the field. With specially selected cartridges, the rifle gives a very good accuracy of 0.5-0.7 MOA. Its weight is 4.5 kg (without a sight and cartridges), the caliber is only 5.56 mm. In fact, this is a very good and accurate weapon, but for unhurried shooting, with the ability to study the properties of one or another installed barrel. The TPG-1 has more than flattering references from various shooters around the world, we can only take their word for it.

This rifle, like the Remington on our list, is an advanced weapon. In this case, it is an outdated M200 model. Since 2012, THOR has entered service with the US Army and Police. In the basic version, at a distance of 1500 meters, the rifle gives an accuracy of 1 MOA. Its weight is 14.5 kg. In traveling condition. And caliber 408 Chey-tac. The magazine holds 7 rounds. Everything in it is not bad, and even good, but this weapon passed some tests for "survivability" with some difficulties. When water gets into the bore and on the trigger, there were failures in the reloading. So this rifle is still waiting for improvement.

The large-caliber "Kord" was developed in 2004 and entered service with the army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A 12.7 mm bullet at a distance of 1500 meters is capable of accurately hitting both enemy manpower and lightly armored targets. Accuracy of fire at such a distance is 1.5 MOA. Everyone who has fired from this rifle notes its extraordinary power. But even despite the muzzle brake, the Kord's recoil is so strong that it can knock out the shooter's shoulder. This rifle, frankly, is not for beginners. Nevertheless, both at international exhibitions and at competitions, Kord stands head and shoulders above its “classmates”.

It is simply impossible not to mention this weapon in our top. Vintorez has been in service since 1987 and is irreplaceable to this day. Silent, lightweight (only 1.8 kg), reliable in operation and with a 20-round magazine, it is designed for urban combat, where stealth is as important as efficiency. On the basis of this rifle, "VAL" and the "Exhaust" we mentioned were created. The 9*39 mm cartridge is capable of penetrating a bulletproof vest of the 5th class at a distance of 200 m, the effective firing range with an accuracy of 1 MOA is 400 m. Vintorez has already become a “classic” of sniper weapons today. What to add here? Honor and praise to the developers!
Many worthy samples of sniper weapons remained, so to speak, “behind the scenes” of our list (for example, the legendary SVD is the most “belligerent” rifle in the world). But there are a huge number of types of weapons for snipers, as well as countries that produce these weapons. So, having chosen the main leading brands now, we will continue to introduce you to the best of the best in this area of weapons.
