How to find out who is connected to your wifi. How to see who is connected to my wifi. How to See Who's Connected Using a LAN Scan
Quickly determine who is connected to the WiFi router (two different ways), we set up rules for limited and secure access to the wireless network, and we also understand programs that facilitate the implementation of the above actions.

Signs of unauthorized connections
First sign quite often you will encounter sharp drops bandwidth connections. Most often, the problem lies in the work of providers of various levels between you and a remote server, but it is quite possible that your channel's traffic is consumed by unauthorized persons. Second sign, which makes you think about controlling access to your Wi-Fi channel - these are suddenly arising access restrictions for your ip-address for any sites. In addition, pay attention to the behavior of the wireless connection indicator on the router case - when all devices are disconnected from the network, it should not blink, much less stay on almost constantly.
How to find out how many devices are connected to my wifi?
How to know who is connected to my wifi? The simplest way do it in the control panel of your router.
To enter it, type in the address bar of your web browser the IP address of your router in local network(if no one has changed it, it will correspond to the one indicated in the instructions and on the router body; usually it is) and enter the credentials in the request window (the default in many routers is admin / admin). Further actions depend on the manufacturer of your router, but there are no fundamental differences, so let's consider the actions using the example of the shell of Asus routers.
In the control panel of your router - you will see the number of all devices connected to the router in the "Clients" section. Clicking on it opens a detailed list of devices. For example, in the screenshot below we see two connected devices: a laptop and a phone.
For detailed information, you can refer to the "System Log-Wireless" menu, it does not display the network names of devices, but only the MAC addresses of their network interfaces. Since they (MAC addresses) were also indicated in the list of clients (which we looked at earlier), it will not be difficult to figure out who is who. In our example, we see that the phone has been connected to the network for a long time, while the laptop has just been connected.
If for some reason you do not have access to the router, you can get by with third-party programs. The simplest option is a program posted by the developer for free access. After pressing the F5 button (or selecting the corresponding item in the menu), the program will scan the entire range of addresses on the local network and display a list of detected devices.
How to see who is connected to a wifi router
More precisely, this question should have been formulated not “how to see who is connected to my wifi”, but “how to see which devices are not mine”. With phones and tablets, everything is simple: temporarily disable the wireless radio on them, and they will disappear from the list of connected devices. You can find out the network name and MAC address of the computer by pressing the Win + R keys on the keyboard and in the window that appears, typing the cmd command to open the command console, in which you need to enter the following: ipconfig / all
In our example, the Notebook device found earlier turned out to be our own laptop. Simply put, all devices found in the example earlier belong to us, and there are no extraneous connections.
How to disconnect unknown users from your wifi
Through the control panel of the router, you can disable wireless data transmission for any of the devices on the network. Since they are identified by unique MAC addresses, in fact, the serial numbers of their network interfaces, turning on the “Reject” filter for the device will mean that it cannot work on your Wi-Fi network, no matter how its owner tries to connect.
How to secure your Wi-Fi? We prohibit connection to wi-fi unknown devices.
From the previous example, you can also understand how to protect yourself from connecting unknown devices: turn on the “Accept” MAC address filter and add to the list all gadgets and computers that will be allowed to access the network. Also, don't forget about security settings: use password protection of the network of sufficient length with the WPA2 authentication method (unlike the outdated WEP, which is quite easily broken by a wifi sniffer, this will make an intruder spend quite a lot of time to break into your network).
Programs to control everyone who is connected to wi-fi
As you have already seen, it is most convenient to monitor the status of your network through the control panel of the router - this way you can quickly identify an intruder and close his access to the network. However, the router cannot alert the host when new devices appear on the network. For this purpose, you can use third-party programs, for example, the one already described above: set the frequency of network scanning in its settings and the appropriate type of notification about a new device, and you can always find out about new connections in your wireless network.
Another program has similar functionality - . But, unlike the previous program, it can automatically start in the system tray along with Windows.
As I already thought new article, in which I will tell you how to see who is connected to my WiFi (well, or your network) ...
I hope since you have already reached such a topic, you know how to get to the router, and if not, you can look in my article, where I described in detail.
Models and firms of routers may differ in this, turn on the logic)))
How to find out how many devices are connected to my WiFi
When you go to the router, you need to select your home network. Let's look here first. I have this device tab, in most cases the naming is connected clients.
Here I have clients connected to my network displayed. To speed up the connection of the device to your network, and the connection becomes 2 times faster, you need to click on the required device, check the box remember the IP address and click register the device.
You can also add a description. Now your device has its own address and when connecting, the router will always give out the same IP address, which will significantly speed up the connection and make it clear who is connected to you.
Now go to the Wi-Fi tab.
Here I have an access list tab. You may have connected clients. We look at which devices are connected and see, for example, that some kind of bastard has connected to you, put a tick in front of an unknown device, select block and apply. All! Traffic and speed are intact!
And also, by registering devices, connecting to the router is much faster! This is how we found out who is connected to your router.
Who is connected to my wifi router - program
There is another way to find out who is connected to our Wi-Fi using the program. True, it will show who is connected at all to our network. But there is no other way.
When launched, the program will start scanning the network.
Devices will appear on the network. These are all devices that are connected both by wire and via Wi-Fi, but there is no other way to see through the program. Therefore, here you need to analyze which device is from your apartment and which is not)))
This is how you can find out on TP-link'e
Like this on D-link
Almost every apartment has computers, laptops, tablets, Cell phones and other devices. To provide access to the Internet for all these devices, owners create home wireless networks and install Wi-Fi routers. To date, the issue of protecting these networks from illegal exploitation by other users remains relevant. In this article, I will tell you how to find out who has connected to your network.
Reasons for concern
- You should be alerted by the regular decrease in data transfer speed on the Internet. Another user joining a wireless connection is not the only reason for slow speeds. But it doesn't hurt to take control of the situation.
- If you are sure that all devices in the apartment are disconnected from the wireless network, and the indicator on the router continues to flicker intensively. This is another reason to find out if one of the neighbors is connected to my Wi-Fi.
How to check how many devices are connected to the router
1st way
To find out who connected to Wi-Fi, you need to go to the router settings. To do this, open a browser and enter the IP address of your router in the address bar. If you enter the settings for the first time, then you will need to enter your username and password. IP address, username and password, you can find out yourself. To do this, you need to look at the sticker with reverse side devices.
You can also find this information in search engine by entering your router model. Provided, of course, that you have not changed them before. On the start page, select advanced settings, and then the "DHCP" tab. This tab displays all devices that are currently powered by your router. By MAC address, you can find out if someone else is connected to the wireless network.
The possibility of network administration is provided. By removing the MAC address, I will block the access of someone else's device to my Wi-Fi. Watch a detailed video on how to determine who is connected to a Wi-Fi router, for example, a router from D-Link:
2nd way
With the help of the program Wireless Network Watcher. Download on the Internet free utility WNetWatcher. Run her. The program will scan the network and show who is connected to your Wi-Fi router. First on the list are my computer and router, below are the devices that are connected to my Wi-Fi.
For each device, the name, MAC address, manufacturer are indicated. You can find out who is using your network by the device name. Another option is to look at the MAC addresses of your devices and compare them with the addresses given by the program. The advantage of this utility is not only that you can see who is connected to your network at the moment. This program runs in the background. If someone tries to use your Wi-Fi, you will hear a beep.
Disadvantages of wireless network watch:
There is no option to block an unknown user. Even if you find that an intruder is connected to your router, you won't be able to stop it. For the program to work, at least one device must be connected by cable to the router. Watch a detailed video on how to use the program:
How to increase the security of your wireless network
- Always change your username and password to log into your router. Those passwords given by manufacturers can be easily cracked by hackers. To change the password, go to the advanced settings, on the "System Tools" tab, select the "Password" item. In the tab that opens, you can edit the current password.
2. In the "Wi-Fi / Wireless" menu, select the "MAC Filter / MAC Address Filtering" tab. On the Filter Mode tab, select Allow.
In the memory of the Wi-Fi router, enter the MAC addresses for which you leave access to the wireless network. After that, no device will be able to connect to your network, even if the person knows your password. Using the tips from this article, you can conveniently see who is connected to a wireless network without your knowledge and block access to free Internet.
On our website, there are already similar instructions for routers from ZyXEL, Asus, and D-Link. But how to see who is connected to Wi-Fi, if the router is from TP-LINK, I have not written yet. There are some nuances, therefore, now we will consider everything in more detail.
I don’t know why, but many people are interested in the question of who else is connected to my Wi-Fi, who “steals” the Internet and how to block it. I can say right away that if you have a good password set for a Wi-Fi network, then you are unlikely to see third-party devices in the list of connected clients. A good password must be set, of course. There is even a .
So, if you have doubts, and it seems to you that someone else has “hooked up” to your Wi-Fi, then this can be checked without any problems. And if you have a TP-LINK router, then this instruction is for you.
TP-LINK: How to find out who is connected to my Wi-Fi and block the device?
In the settings, go to the "Wireless" tab (wireless mode). If you have a dual-band router, then open the tab with the desired network (2.4 GHz, or 5 GHz). And immediately go to "Wireless Statistics" (wireless statistics).
There, the table will display all the devices that are connected to your Wi-Fi. You can click on the "Refresh" button to refresh the list.
To be honest, the information there is not very informative, therefore, I advise you to go to the tab "DHCP" - "DHCP Client List" (list of DHCP clients). There at least the name of the device will be indicated.
If you find there some device that is not yours, then you can block it. Blocking is best done by MAC address. But, there is another way: just change the password for Wi-Fi. And all the devices that were connected to your Wi-Fi will "fall off" themselves. And you will connect with a new password.
Blocking Wi-Fi clients by MAC address on a TP-LINK router
From the tables above that I showed, copy the MAC address of the device you want to block. Go to the "Wireless" tab (wireless mode)– "Wireless MAC Filtering" (MAC address filtering).
Filtering must be enabled (in the Enabled status). And the lock settings are in the "Deny" status. Click on the "Add New" button to add a new device.
Specify the MAC address of the desired device, enter an arbitrary description, and save the rule.
We reboot the router. The blocked device will be disconnected and will not be able to connect again. But I would change my password WiFi networks.
How to view the list of Wi-Fi clients if the router is TP-LINK with a new settings page
Some top models of routers from TP-LINK have already got a new web interface. Basically, these are devices from the Archer line. (But not all) . In the settings, in the new control panel, go to the top section "Basic" (basic setting). You will see a network map. There will be wireless clients. Click on them, and a list of devices that are connected to your Wi-Fi will appear on the side or bottom.
It is a pity that they did not make it possible to block devices immediately from this table.
To block devices on routers with new firmware, you need to go to the "Advanced" section (additional settings). Then open the tab "Wireless" (wireless mode)- "Wireless MAC Filtering", and create a rule as I showed above.
That's actually all. Now you know how you can view a list of all devices that are connected to the wireless network. And if necessary, block individual devices.
The WPA and WPA2 encryption protocols used to secure wireless networks are considered extremely secure. More recently, such protection gave 100% confidence in the security of your Wi-Fi, provided that you use sufficiently strong passwords. But new equipment and modern technologies gradually make a hack of this protection.
For example, the use of powerful graphics adapters for password brute force allows you to pick up even complex keys in real time. For those who can't afford a $500 GPU, there are special hacking services where you can crack any password for a very modest amount. So, if it is no longer possible to vouch for the integrity of your network, then how do you know that it has been hacked and the villains are already inside? Two small utilities will help you with this.
This is a small utility from Nirsoft that scans wireless networks and displays a list of all computers and devices that are currently connected to the network. For each computer or device connected to the network, the IP address, MAC address, name, and possibly the name of the computer are displayed.
You can also export the list of connected devices in HTML/XML/CSV format or copy the list to the clipboard.
Wireless Network Watcher may periodically scan the network in the background. If new devices are detected, the program will signal the user with a sound signal.
SoftPerfect WiFi Guard
This is another free app that scans your Wi-Fi network for new connected devices.
If an unfamiliar device is found, the program warns the user that an intruder has been detected. If you know the device, then you can add it to the white list. The program will no longer pay attention to it.
