How to finish the ceiling in the country
For a city dweller to feel his unity with nature is possible only outside the metropolis, in the country. The wooden building easily endures winter frosts. It remains only to understand how to finish the ceiling in the country house, so that it harmoniously fits into the wooden structure, looks great and is not at all afraid of temperature changes in an irregularly heated building?
Wood is a natural material that breathes and independently regulates the humidity and temperature in the room.
The material from which the ceiling will be made in the country should also meet these criteria as much as possible.
In this case, you will have to abandon PVC panels, expensive branded suspension systems. Artificial polyvinyl chloride in the decoration of a room made of natural material will be sharply discordant, and suspended systems of slatted, mirror and glass ceilings are, nevertheless, an urban design.

The materials from which the ceilings are made are not afraid of changes in temperature and humidity.
Wooden panel ceiling
A unique natural microclimate is formed in wooden rooms. The light smell of the forest practically does not leave them. The harmony of reunion with nature will be logically continued by the ceiling in the country house made of wooden lining.
A large number of configurations, wood species will help you choose the most successful design solution.
Wooden lining is the best answer to the question of how to finish the ceiling in the country
Wooden lining is divided into classes:
- Forest breed
- Profile
- The size
For the manufacture of lining, deciduous and coniferous species are used: abashi, linden, cedar, pine, alder, oak, birch, ash.
Depending on the presence of knots, resin pockets, cracks on the surface of the lining, it is divided into grades.
The type of wooden lining can be:
- Extra
Grade "Extra" means an ideal, without visual defects, lining lining. From grade "A" to "C", the surface quality of the panel gradually deteriorates.
By applying tinting paints and varnishes to the lining, you can successfully mask visible surface imperfections.
Profile
The modern market of building materials offers lining of domestic production and "euro lining".
The European version has a better performance, as it is made according to the strict EU standard, and has a wider range:
- Standard
- Softline
- Block house
- American
- Landhau
Types of eurolining
Finishing the ceilings in the country house is carried out in the following versions: standard, softline and block-house. Due to the peculiarities of the profile, American and Landhau are used for wall decoration.
The standard version of eurolining practically does not differ from its domestic type. Minor differences are only in width and thickness.
Wooden lining does not exceed 6 meters in length and 150 mm in width, and varies in thickness in the range of 12 - 25 mm.
Installation of the ceiling from the lining
The lining is installed on wooden rails fixed under the ceiling, with a minimum allowable size of 20 mm * 25 mm. The direction of fastening of the bars should be perpendicular to the lining strips.
Finishing the ceilings in the country begins with the processing of lining and wooden beams with solutions with fire and antifungal effects. They are applied with ordinary paint brushes over the entire surface, including the grooves of the lining.
Of the tools and auxiliary materials we need:
- wood saw with fine teeth
- screwdriver or Phillips screwdriver
- core drill
- level
- a hammer
- kapron thread
- galvanized U - shaped brackets
- kleimers
- wood screws 25 - 35 mm long
A drill is necessary for drilling technological holes in the lining for lighting elements.
Important! Prior to installation, all communications, including lighting, must be laid on the ceiling.
Now you can proceed directly to the installation of the ceiling.
Installation of the ceiling from the lining
The procedure for installing a ceiling from a wooden lining:
- We fix two beams on the ceiling along its edges, which should be strictly in the same plane. Fasteners are made using either wooden supports or U-shaped brackets made of galvanized steel with an interval of 60 cm. The fastening point should be as close as possible to the ceiling-wall corner.
- We stretch the thread between the extreme bars and, according to this landmark, every 60 cm, we mount the remaining bars on the ceiling.
- We are preparing the first lining - the spike is completely cut off and it is cut to length, which should be 2 cm shorter than the distance between the walls.
- We apply the first strip to the ceiling face down, cut off the spike to the wall. We set gaps of 1 cm between the walls and the lining, fasten the panel with screws to the bars, as close as possible to its edge from the side of the ceiling-wall corner. On the other side of the lining, we put the kleimer on the protrusion of the groove and fix them on the bars.
- The second lining is cut to length similarly to the first, and its spike is inserted into the groove of the first strip. On the other hand, kleimers are applied and pressed against the bars with screws. Further, this process is repeated with all the lining strips.
- When approaching the exit point of communications, measurements and holes in the lining are made. After installing the lining strip. lighting elements are immediately mounted.
- The gaps between the lining and the walls are closed with decorative plinths.
Important! Nails and screws can be used to fasten the kleimers, but when installing the ceiling from the lining, it is recommended to use only screws.
Fabric stretch ceilings
The wooden walls of the cottage are very successfully combined with a white fabric stretch ceiling.
The covering of fabric can be both monophonic, and with the applied individual drawing.
Fabric ceilings in the country
Advantages of fabric stretch ceiling:
- Environmental friendliness
- Durability
- Ceiling surface breathes
- Ease of installation
- The fabric can be dyed up to 10 times with acrylic water-dispersion paints
- Does not lose its properties at air temperatures from -50C to +60C
Stretch fabric ceiling with a pattern
For installation, the fabric does not need to be additionally heated, it only needs to be straightened and fixed on the walls in aluminum or plastic baguettes. Excess fabric is cut off with a knife, the bottom of the baguette is closed with a decorative corner - the ceiling is a complete structure.
The temperature regime allows you to safely use such a ceiling in irregularly heated summer cottages.
Important! Vinyl stretch ceilings, at air temperatures from -5C and below, may become unusable. Cracks may form on the coating.
Ceilings in the country from plasterboard
In the country house, with its intermittent heating throughout the year, it is recommended to use a moisture-resistant gypsum board for arranging the ceiling. The use of drywall as a decor for the ceiling allows the design of the dacha to sparkle with new, sometimes unexpected colors.
Finishing the ceiling in the country with gypsum boards
The natural material from which the plate is made is not afraid of humid air and low temperatures, but it should not have direct contact with water. In this case, the gypsum board will be saturated with water and fail.
Therefore, it is necessary to make sure that the entire cottage is well waterproofed in order to choose such a ceiling option.
In a country cottage, installation of drywall can be carried out on wooden beams or beams, on galvanized metal profiles.

Plasterboard ceiling installation operations:
- The plates are fixed on the supporting structures with self-tapping screws or wood screws.
- The entire surface is covered first with a starting and then finishing gypsum putty
- The joints of the plates are puttied with a strip of a special mesh applied to them
- Carefully sanded to a perfectly smooth finish
- The resulting ceiling is primed
- The surface of the plasterboard ceiling can be painted in any color with acrylic water-dispersion paints. At least two layers are applied. The white color looks most natural in contrast with natural wood.
The dacha guarantees quality rest for the whole family, based on being in natural conditions both inside and outside.
